"How could you-"

"I didn't use any witchcraft," I interrupt. "It was just common knowledge by how you talked about her."

He sighed, closing his eyes. "So I basically was a puppet for you."

"I didn't bring her up, you did. And for good reason, I'm guessing. Why would you tell me?"

"You remind me a lot of her," he says, his eyes opening and showing golden brown, much unlike deep brown ones. "Not just because of the fact that you two are the only ones of your kind but you look a lot like her."

"But I'm not her," I say slowly. He nodded his head slowly, coming to reality as his eyes went back to normal. "How'd she die?" He sighs again, the look of anger and loss crossing his face. "You don't have to tell me," I say quickly. "It's none of my business."

I could see the look of relief cross his face. "Thank you," he said softly.

Nodding my head, a sudden feeling came over me. "Oh shit," I say mostly to myself.

"What is it?" he says confused.

"Garret's brother is here."

I had instantly left Berny in the library as I made my way straight to my room. Opening the door, I was met with a topless Garret, typing something on his phone. Hearing me enter, he looks over at me stepping inside. Opening his mouth to say something, I beat him to the punch-

"You're brother's here," I say.

He closed his mouth in shock and confusion. "How- nevermind. Where were you?"

Chuckling at the fact that he didn't question how I knew anymore, I head to the closet to change into something to meet his brother in. "I went to the library," I answer, in search for something to wear.

"See anything good?" he asks, rounding the corner while buttoning up a white top. As I undressed, I began to pull some clothes from off the racks.

"I found your family lineage," I say as I pull on a pair of striped black and white high-waisted pants. Tying the waistband around my waist, it made the gathers on top of it bunch up and pucker, accentuating my waist as I stared in the mirror on top of my dresser.

He chuckled. "Seems pretty boring," he says as he rolls up the sleeves to his elbow. Turning away as thoughts of him ran through my mind, I softly bite my bottom lip.

"I liked it," I say, pulling a top of its hanger. "It's your family, shows where you come from." Pulling on a ribbed black tank top that was fitted to my torso and breasts, it fell just above my bellybutton. It didn't expose a lot of skin between the top of the pant and the bottom of the top. Pulling my hair down from its bun, I play with it a little as I ponder on telling him the next bit of information. "I found something in the book though."

"Your dashingly handsome mate?" he questions cockily.

"Other than that," I say, rolling my eyes.

Chuckling, he steps behind me, placing his hands on the dresser on either side of me. "What is it?" he whispered.

"It was a wedding invitation," I start. "Addressed to your mom and dad."

"Who's?"

"My parents," I say softly as I look down, playing with some jewelry in the jewelry box. He remained silent, urging me to go on. "I didn't take it, I figured it was your dads and he had a connection with them just like me... they looked very happy and in love."

"You miss them," he states knowingly. My throat began to tighten so all I did was nod my head. I was fighting the tears from streaming down my face but two escaped anyways. "Oh baby," he says as he pulls me away from the dresser and turns me into him. I rested my head on his shirt, thankful I hadn't yet put on any makeup. He placed his cheek on the top of my head, rocking us side to side.

"I really wish they were here," I say softly. "I miss them more now than I have in a long time."

"Why is that?" he questions softly.

"Because I finally have happiness in my life. I mean, yes, there are some things that are frustrating and confusing and slightly scare me. But I wouldn't trade in what we have for the world and I want to, you know, share it with them... Because I feel like I finally understand what their love felt like."

His grip around me tightened. "I know mon chéri," he says tenderly. "I'm sorry that you have to go through this. But you're not alone. I will be here for you. I know I can't compare to your parents but-"

"You come pretty damn close," I interrupt.

After composing myself and finish getting ready to meet Garret's brother, we made our way downstairs to the family living room. I let Garret lead the way because mapping out this house was a tedious process that I couldn't remember. My chunky, three-inch heels clacked against the hardwood floor as we made our way through the maze that is his house.

"Adam," Garret exclaims. "You reek of French models and cheap cologne," he says jokingly. He was clearly lying because my senses filled with overly expensive cologne. Of course with the small smell of one, maybe two females scents on him but they were faint.

"Jealousy looks terrible on you my dear brother," Adam responds in a fake posh accent.

They chuckled with one another, embracing each other like true brothers. I felt another pang that resembled very similar to the one I had earlier regarding my parents. I missed them profusely of course. But I also felt neglected of the relationship that my brothers and I could've had. If my parents hadn't been ripped out of our lives so gruesomely.

I bottled up the jealousy that I undoubtedly felt and put a pleasant face on.

"Now this beautiful woman who's behind you can't possibly be your mate," Adam exclaims, suddenly looking at me.

I knew the look was nothing but genuine but there was something off about him that I couldn't put my finger on. Not in a, I know what you did last summer, kind of way but in a way that made me feel that I had seen him before. That I knew him. I wasn't sure how, I wasn't sure why, but the feeling still remained.

But nonetheless, I smiled as he smiled at me. "This is, in fact, my beautiful mate," Garret says, opening his arm for me to stand into him. Taking the invitation, I felt his hand loosely wrap itself around my waist. "Adam, this Emerald, Emmy, this is Adam."

"It's nice to finally meet you," I say softly.

He brought his hand out and I put my hand in his. The feeling still remained. "You as well," he says softly, slightly squeezing my hand. "I apologize for not knowing much about you but I'm sure we will get well acquainted."

Before I could say anything, his lips met the back of my hand. What was it about people kissing my hand? But the moment his lips touched my skin, I inwardly gasped. My grip on his hand tightened as I suddenly was taken away from this reality and into another dimension.

I saw him, Adam, interacting with someone else. In fact, three other people. And those other people just so happened to be the devils themselves.

My brothers.
