"Whenever you're ready," I say, sitting down on the couch I was laying on before.

They looked at each other, not sure where to begin I assumed.

"Her name was Maria, as you know," starts Luna. "She was just like you. Had all your abilities, all your powers. The only difference is she fought off demons, that's what made her so interesting to Romano. A witch with werewolf genes fighting off all these demons that had crossed her path, no one knew what to do."

"He set out to kill her," Venus continued. "I don't think it was even in his interest to try and have her alive. He wanted to be the most powerful, the most feared. He saw that with Maria alive, that he didn't have that sort of power."

"He was jealous," I input.

"Very," Luna answered. "He was, he is, one of the most powerful demons to ever walk on this earth. He had been around for centuries."

"Bernie said it was in the prophecy for her to die," I say, remembering.

"It was. She was powerful but not against him."

"Did she know she was going to die?"

They shook their heads. "We didn't know either," Venus explained. "We didn't have any control over anything back then."

"You do now?" I question.

"To an extent," Luna answered. "When she died and said it was within her prophecy to die, that's when we took matters into our own hands. We had it so that your mother would be born, for her to meet your father, for you to be born. We knew that the prophecy would end with you."

"To what extent?"

"Once you were born, we really didn't have a say in anything," Venus said.

"So... you didn't know Romano would kill my parents that night?"

Venus shook her head. "I had a premonition that he had heard of your birth, I didn't know what he'd do or how he'd do it. Your mother also had that same premonition, and prepared for it."

"Prepared for what?"

"Her death."

"Wait... you're telling me... she knew she was going to die?"

"She sacrificed herself so that you could live," Luna said.

I suddenly became overwhelmed. This was all too much. So many people had died at the hands of this man, people had sacrificed themselves to him for me to live. My own mother knew it and she didn't think twice about it.

Tears rolled down my face. "She put a spell on me... that night."

Venus smiled sadly. "She prayed for me to protect you that night. To intervene with whatever Romano was going to do to kill you."

I didn't remember anything after he arrived in the room. I just remember a light.

"So it was you who saved my brothers and me."

She shook her head. "I saved you," she reworded. "You saved your brothers."

I racked my brain to remember it. "I... I don't remember."

"In due time," Luna says. "Don't force it."

"When will he be here? He knows where I am."

"He hasn't pinpointed where you are you yet," Luna explained. "With your brothers keeping you locked up for nine years with no one else knows, he didn't think to look there. He figured they sent you somewhere else. And with you moving around so much for your training, that made it even harder. It was when you settled down with Garret that he was able to see you that you were back in the United States. He was only able to project to you through your dreams and cause you harm the way he did but he still doesn't know your exact location."

"How will I know when he does?"

"We will let you know," Venus says, making it sound like I had her word. "But you need to prepare now."

"How? How can I defeat something that has already kilt so many people? He's too powerful."

"You need to practice your powers, make allies."

"Allies? With who?" They didn't respond, they began to fade away. "Wait! I still have questions."

"We'll be watching," Luna says.

"Wait!"

Everything turned black.

"Baby please, please," I heard someone murmuring, crying. "I forgive you, alright? Just come back to me. I don't hate you, I love you. Please come back."

I felt myself slowly begin to wake up and realize where I was. I felt myself in Garret's lap, as he sat on the floor. He rocked me and him back and forth, his head in my chest. I felt his tears. Tiredly, I move my right hand, extending it to his head. Running it over his low cut, I let out a deep sigh.

"Garret," I say softly, my voice cracking. "I'm okay."

He quickly brought his head up, his bloodshot eyes meeting mine. "Emerald?" he questions, as if I wasn't real. I nodded my head. "Oh mon chéri!" he exclaims, kissing me all over my face. I giggle at the contact as he quickly moved around every inch of my face. "Don't ever do that again! I was so worried!"

"I'm sorry," I say seriously, looking up at him. "I'm so sorry I didn't tell you anything. I couldn't bring myself to, I didn't want to worry you. I didn't even know how to understand any of it myself. I wanted to be able to answer the questions you would most likely have without being vague... but vagueness is all I got at first."

"At first?"

I nodded my head. "I got some answers. Not all but enough to understand better."

"Just now? Is that why you were yelling and fainted?"

I nodded my head again. "That's how I meet with Luna and Venus," I explained. "Sometimes in my dreams, sometimes I faint... I'm sorry that I scared you."

"Just that you're okay now, that's all that matters."

"Would you like me to explain it to you now?" I question softly.

"No," he said, kissing my forehead. A look of confusion easily went across my face. "Right now, I want to hold you until we fall asleep. An explanation can wait till the morning."

"What time is it?" I ask, looking at the windows and seeing it was dark.

"Eleven at night."

Not fighting him, I begin to try and get out of his arms but he tightened his grip. Giving him a look, he quickly stands, carrying me bridal style out of the room and down the stairs to our room.

Walking inside, he closes the door with his foot and settles me on the edge of the bed. Having me sit up, he takes off my oversized shirt, leaving me in nothing but my underwear, and he undresses to his cyclist shorts. Not minding the brief nudity on my part, he pulls the covers back and settles into the sheets with me next to him.

Pulling me undeniably closer to him, he settles on my chest, resting his ear over my heart, on my breast. I didn't mind the contact, I rub his head lovingly.

"I love you, Garret," I say, already feeling the tiredness set in my body. "With my whole heart."

"I love you too Emerald," he says. "With my whole heart."
