"I think it's cute when someone actually stays up late just to talk to you."
-Maddie-
"I can't believe we are back home." Leah sleepily mumbles as her head plants on the mattress. "I will forever miss you kimchi." We chuckle at her statement, folding our clothing. "Hey don't be lazy. Help us unpack." Capella says, slapping her playfully on the leg.
Leah groans and flips on her side. I watched the girl sigh in defeat as she flops on the bed too. Everyone was tired after taking the delayed flight. We ended up landing at 1 am in the morning.
"I am so exhausted." Capella mutters as she closed her eyes. Valery nods her head vigorously and rubs her eyes. "Hey if you guys want to rest, go ahead. I still have to wash up." I smile.
The girls flashed me a huge genuine smile before going back to their original positions. I smile at the sight of my friends slowly falling asleep. Leah snores lightly while the other two lay down quietly. Maybe I'd have to sleep on the couch. I thought to myself.
After gathering my skincare supplies, I tiptoed all the way to the bathroom. Setting down my things, I placed my phone near the sink as I splashed to cold water on my face. A huge wave of euphoria washes over me as I recall what happened during our date.
I giggle slightly as I pat my face dry with a towel. A weird feeling erupts through my stomach as my cheeks heat up. It felt strange, quite foreign. The last time I felt these things was during my senior high year's. The time I was supposed to tell him my true feelings.
But he left, just like the tides. Leaving but coming back once more. What pains me the most wasn't the fact that he left so suddenly, it was the promise he broke. The promise of remembering me. He lied about that.

Was I an easy person to forget? Did I mean nothing to him? Has he found someone better? These questions flooded through my head. Before I knew it, fresh warm tears began streaming down my face.
"No....I shouldn't be acting this way.." I let out a humorless laughter, wiping my cheeks as I stare at my refelection. The way I was acting wasn't unfair to me but to Tyler as well. I took a deep breath.
Maddie, take a hold of yourself. Tyler's here for you now. It's useless to cry over spilled milk. I remind myself. Squeezing my eyes shut, I exhale. Why am I acting this way again? Haven't I moved on?
Suddenly, my phone's ringtone echoes through the bathroom. My eyes immediately dart to the screen as I swipe to answer the call. Whoever is calling this late at night, must have a death wish.
"Hello?" My voice came out quite hoarse. I can hear deep chuckles from the other line. My heart flutters a bit as my shoulders relaxed. "Am I disturbing my daffodil's sleep?" He asks. My eyes widen at the new nickname. I nearly dropped my phone.
"D-Daffodils?" I stutter, clenching my phone to have a tighter grip. "Yeah, it suits you. You're pretty and petite." He answers. I can hear the smile in his voice. My hearts hammers against my chest as my legs grow weak.
"Yeah, thanks." I manage to say in a calm voice. I can hear him shuffle a bit as he yawns. A smile tugs in the corner of my lips.
"You should sleep. It's 2 am. Why would you call this early." I ask, concern lacing my voice. He only laughs lightly. "Can't I check on you? After all, we are dating." He teased, stressing the are in the sentence.

"Well, I'm good and kinda tired. I appreciate the effort but we both need rest. Let's talk again tomorrow." I mutter sleepily, stretching my arms. "Okay, let's have a date tomorrow." He adds.
We both agreed at the time and place and said our goodbyes.
I tiredly walked out of the bathroom. Seeing a huge space on the bed, I immediately lie down and snuggled against the pillow. I wrapped a blanket around my body, enjoying the warmth.
My phone goes off with a ting sound as the screen brightens almost immediately. I check it out and found out it was from the one and only Tyler.
Tyler: Goodnight!:3
Tyler: sleep tight
Tyler: sent a gif
I smile as I typed down my response and sent it. He normally would fall asleep after you talk to him though so I find him texting me quite funny. I know he prefers calling over texting so it's nice seeing him make an effort.
Maddie: I won't be able to sleep if you keep texting me
He reads it immediately and starts typing down a response. That was fast. Normally, I would be the one doing that. He deletes a message starts typing down a new one.
Tyler: okay, sleep well daffodil;D
I blush at the nickname as I turn off my phone. I snuggle on the pillow as sleep slowly takes over me. My eyes began to close and I hug my blanket tightly. For once, I felt secure and safe. Warm and fuzzy.
I felt genuinely happy.
