《Primrose》Chapter 1

"Prim would you mind helping me arrange these tulips please?" May asks me. May is basically like a mother to me. She took me in after I was sent to foster care after my parents died in a car crash. She's basically the mother I never had. She takes care of me and makes sure that I have a roof over my head at all times. Sure I was never really close with my actual parents, but having both your parents makes you feel whole.
Never take a moment for granted, it may be the last.
I went to a public school my whole life and I dream of going to college. I know some people would be like 'ew college' 'why would you go there?' Well, I want a good education. So after I finished high school I agreed to help May with her flower shop. It's been 3 years since I last went to school but I'm still determined to go to college, even if I may be 40 years old. Okay maybe not, but still.
"Of course," I reply back to May and make my way over to her. We have a big wedding coming up for one of May's clients. She getting married next week and wants us to make a wedding bouquet for her. She has requested a bunch of tulips and roses. Even some lilies. I think this bouquet will turn out quite nice.
"And finished," May says turning the bouquet around for a little show. "Thanks for your help, Prim."
"No problem," I reply with a smile. "Do you need me to close up the shop?" I question. I hate May staying so late just to lock down the store, so everyday I request to do it for her.
"No need honey, it's pretty scary out in the dark. Especially for a young girl like you to be walking around." May responds with worried eyes. And everyday she declines.
Of course she never lets me close down. "May, I promise I'll be fine. I can even call Jed to come over and help me. He's a big guy." I try to reason with her. "Please?" I beg.
With a defeated sigh she nods her head and turns to face me. This time with a serious expression on her face. "Okay, but once you close down you come home right after. Got that?" She says while pointing a finger at me. I break out into a huge grin and tackle her with a huge hug.

"Thank you!" I say hugging her tightly.
"Okay, I can't breathe." She gasps out. I quickly release her and go back to transferring the growing sunflowers into bigger pots for their roots to spread out and grow.
I starts humming a song to which May chuckles softly at. "Silly girl." She says as she helps out a customer.

It's now closing time and May begins to pack her items. "And don't forget to call me once you lock the doors. And call me again once you're on your way home. And again when you reach--"
"Okay I get it May." I say smiling softly cutting her off. "You have absolutely nothing to worry about." I say grabbing her soft hand in mine. "I'll call you every minute." I say and her worried lines on her forehead start to relax.
"Okay, just be safe. I'll wait until Jed arrives. In the meantime I'll help you." Just then the bell to the door rings, signalling someone has entered the shop. We both turn our heads to see.
"Jed." I say breaking out into a smile and running up to hug him. Jed has been my best friend for the longest time. We even went to the same schools together and he has never left my side since.
"Hey gummy bear." He says pinching my cheeks. I swat his hands away.
"I hate it when you call me that." I say rubbing my cheeks.
"I know." He says and pats my head. "We got it from here Mrs. Ford. Oh! And one more thing. I'm taking your daughter out with me tonight to see one of my friends perform."
"Where?" May asks raising an eyebrow.
"Just down the street." Jed says pointing outside.
"Hmm, I don't know about this. It's pretty late." May says.
"Please? I promise we'll be back before midnight." I chime in pleading her to let me go. May is really laid back, she let's me do things I want but it has limits to it. Like right now, she hates me staying out past 8.
She sighs once again and throws her hands into the air. "Fine, I suppose you can go to this show. Just close up and call me once you get there." She says.
I run up to hug her once again, squeezing the life out of her. "Thank you May!" I say and release her. "You should get some rest. I think Clyde is waiting for you to get back home." I say. Clyde is May's husband. They've been trying years for a child but I guess it never worked. That's why they wanted to foster care children who don't have a home to go to.

"Okay I'll go." She says and waves to us one last time before exiting the shop and heading towards her mini car.

Jed and I close up the shop and head outside to where his car is parked. "You ready for an awesome night Primmie?" He asks me.
"Don't call me that." I say as I nudge his shoulder. "And I thought you said this thing was right down the street?" I ask.
"It is." He says opening the passenger door for me.
"Then why are we taking the car?" I ask as I slide in. I never knew how chilly it was outside until I slump back in Jed's warm leather seat car.
"Because it may or may not be underground." He says with a sly smirk as he closes this side of the door and makes his way to the driver's side.
"Wait, underground? What kind of show performs underground in the night?" I ask getting a bit curious and worried. I know Jed would never put me in a situation where I would get hurt. That's one thing I love about him. He cares for people.
"You'll see." He says and reverses the car out onto the road. I watch as we drive by a tall building. Before I know it, it looks like we're sinking down the road. A gate opens and Jed drives through it into an underground parking space. He stops the engine and turns to look at me. "Surprise." He says and hops out of the car. I do the same as more cars start to pile in.
I make my way over to Jed and grab his bicep tightly. "Jed, what is this place?" I ask getting worried. Why did I agree to let him bring me here?
"Relax. Just stay by me the whole time and you'll be fine." He says.
"Jed I promises May that I'll be back before midnight. This place looks like somewhere people can kidnap us and the witnesses won't even say a word!" I whisper yell to him which he chuckles in response. "Don't laugh. Why are you laughing? I'm in distressed here." I say punching him in the arm.
"Trust me, there'll be no kidnapping here. Come." He says and leads us to double doors with a security guard on each side. We walk up to them and Jed reaches his hand out to shake one of their hands.
"Jed, good to see you." One of the them says. "Go on in, the shows about to starts." The same one's eyes drift to me and he sends a wink my way. I feel an uneasiness aura form.
"Come on." Jed urges me and we both make our way inside.
"What was that?" I turn to face him once we come to a stop. People come walking inside. This place is getting way too crowded for my liking. Jed opens his mouth to respond but is cut off by a voice from behind him.
"Yo Jed!" Two guys walk up to us. I take in their features. Damn do they work out. Their muscles literally bulge out of their shirts, which look like they might rip in a couple of seconds. "He's about to go on."
"Hi." The other one says as he turns to face me. "What's a pretty thing like you doing down here?" He questions crossing his arms, his muscles becoming bigger as he does so.
I am about to answer when Jed cuts me off. "Kade and Nash, this is Prim. Prim, these are my buddies. This is Kade." He points to the guy who asked me why I was here. "And this is Nash." He points to the other guy who interrupted Jed's and I's conversation on what the heck is going on.
"Hi." I say.
"Prim, is that short for something?" Nash asks me.
"It's short for Primrose." I reply nodding my head awkwardly. Then the lights dim and music starts to play.
"Quiet, The Assassin's about to go on." Kade says as everyone quiets down. A boy with blue boxing gloves come up on the stage, bouncing on his feet. He seems a bit small, but pretty quick on his feet.
Then the referee announces the other opponent. He hops into the ring, this one wearing red boxing gloves. He's wearing a hood over his head. Taking it off, the big tattooed guy reveals dark hazel green eyes. The bell rings and the two throw punches. Then it hits me. Jed brought me to a underground boxing match.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
