《My Best Friend's Brother》Hurry Up

"Do you need help with those boxes?"
I shake my head, "No, I'm fine."
He grabs three of the boxes, "I can help you, and I wanted to say I'm sorry about what I did."
I roll my eyes and walk towards the door knowing that Liam would come to my rescue at the first sight of AJ.
He stops right in front of the doors, "Emilie, I am sorry for what happened that night."
We pause in eye contact, and I can see the genuine apology written on his face, but it didn't change anything, "Thank you, but we aren't going to hug and be friends and sing campfire songs."
He laughed and pushed the door open with his leg, "I didn't expect any of that, I just had to say I'm sorry."
A few steps into the parking lot and I was watching Liam jump out of the Jeep. He took the boxes from AJ, "I can take it from here."
"I have no doubt," AJ awkwardly waved, "I will see y'all around."
Liam slowly put the pizza boxes in the back seat with Charlotte, "Are you okay?"
I nod, "I'm fine, he was actually pretty nice and apologetic about everything... but it doesn't change anything."
He opened my door and helped me into my seat, "I should have went in with you."
Liam's phone sounded with a ding. He pulled it out of his pocket, "It's my mom. Sarah is home."
Charlotte clapped her hands, "Then let's go!"
We pull into the driveway and Charlotte skips to the front door. Liam grabs my hand, "You ready?"
I take a deep breath and nod, "Actually, I am."
Sarah was leaned back on the couch when we walked in. She smiled and held her arms out to hug me. Liam sat the boxes of pizza on the table, then joined us in the living room.
"Thank god you brought real food, I was tired of the hospital mush."
Charlotte jumped up, "I will get you a slice!"

The doorbell rang and Liam cut his eyes to us. Within a minute or so, the door was open and a handful of people walked into the house following Grant.
"So I may have brought a few friends." Grant starts introducing everyone to us.
I shake my head, "I said no to a party."
He grinned, "Not a party, just a small gathering."
Sarah called me over, "I didn't know a lot of people were coming," she leaned closer, "Could you help me to the bathroom? I want to try to fix my hair."
I smile, "Of course."
I cautiously helped Sarah up each individual step until we reached the top. I let her take a rest since the bathroom was all the way at the end of the hallway.
I hand Sarah the brush as she runs it through her hair, "Could you look in that drawer and grab some makeup?"
I open her drawer and start digging, my hand lands on a small bag.
"Sarah?"
Sarah snatched the bag from my hand, "I will handle it."
She tore it open with her teeth and dumped the contents into the toilet, and flushed.
"Sarah.."
She tossed the empty bag onto the floor, "I told Liam, it was a one time thing. I'm done."
I rubbed my hand on her shoulder, "I'm proud of you and I'm here for you."
She looked at my eyes in the mirror, "Do you love him?"
I turned my head to the side, "Who?"
"Liam, do you love him?"
My face naturally moved into a smile, "I do."
Sarah lifted her arm enough to slide it around me, "Then welcome to the family, but don't think I won't kick both of your asses if you cut me out."
I dramatically put my hand across my forehead, "I am so scared!"
A knock on the bathroom door made us both jump.
"Sarah?"
I leaned over and opened the door, Liam was standing in the hall with his arms crossed.
Sarah took one last look in the mirror to her brushed hair and bare face, "I guess I will just have to look like this."

The drawer was still open and some powder sat on top, "Here," I take the brush and swipe some powder on her face, and pin back the top half of her hair, "Perfect."
She smiled into the mirror then told Liam she was ready. I was thankful he had come upstairs because I wasn't sure I could help her down the stairs. He lifted her up onto his back and quickly shuffled down to the rest of our friends.
Charlotte seemed to be hitting it off with one of Grants's buddies from West Heights. She was sitting close to him and giggling at all of his jokes. The evening went on as we all ate pizza, played cards, joked around, and watched a movie. The time finally came for everyone to head home, including me.
Charlotte said she would catch a ride back to her car with Grant's friend.
"I can take you to your car." Liam grabbed my hand.
I hugged Sarah goodbye and told her to take care of herself and call me if she needs me. She grabbed my arm as I went to walk away, "Would you stay with me?"
I turn to look at Liam who shrugged, "We can go get your car in the morning."
I half smiled, "I don't have any clothes."
"Oh please, we are the same size and I have a closet full."
Liam had made his way behind me, "You could always wear my clothes."
Sarah tossed a pillow out direction, "She is here to stay with me, not you."
Liam winked at me out of view from Sarah.
"Are we sleeping on the couch?" I look at the small space left beside Sarah.
She shrugged, Liam cut in, "How about like old times? We can put the air mattress down and watch some movies?"
Sarah's eyes lit up, "I really like that idea."
I went up to Sarah's room to find a change of clothes, and found Liam waiting at the door.
"Can I help you?"
He shook his head, "Please, continue."
I cross my arms, "Nice try. Not happening."
He strides across the room to face me, "It isn't anything I haven't seen before," he tugs at the bottom of my shirt, "Let me help."
My eyes rolled out of habit, "I am here to keep Sarah company..."
He pulled me close, "She won't miss you for five minutes."
"That quick?"
He laughed and pulled my shirt over my head. Our noses were only inches apart and I could feel his breath on my ear. The vibes in the air changed immediately and he grabbed the back of my neck with both hands to pull me into his kiss. Within moments, I had pulled his shirt over his head as well. He pulled away to meet my eyes with his.
"You are so beautiful."
My cheeks burned, and I tried to cover my face. He held my hands down and planted kisses all over my face.
My phone started ringing and I saw that it was Sarah. I pushed Liam away and grabbed the phone,
"Hurry up."
I let a laugh escape, "I am trying."
"Well try harder," the phone fell silent for a few moments, "And do not do anything on my bed."
I gasped right before she hung up the phone.
Liam grinned, "Sounds like she knows what we are doing."
I waved my finger back and forth, "No. No. No."
He tackled me onto the bed and began to tickle me until I had to pee.
He followed me as I ran to the bathroom and slid the stand table under the knob, since they had still not fixed the bathroom lock. I think back to the day he bombarded into the bathroom while I was in the shower. It feels so long ago, but in reality it wasn't.
He knocks on the door, "Hurry up."
