《The Boy with the Beautiful Name》Moods

When Sara turned back around, Bentley was dry and clothed. She had to admit, he looked much better in his sweatshirt and sweatpants than she ever did.

He walked up to her, shoving his hands into the sweatpants pockets. "Wait a second." He stared down at his clothes. "These are the ones I gave you."

She detected a slight hint of hurt in his eyes. The look made her feel terrible. "Well, you see--I couldn't keep them. They weren't mine--"

He was about to interrupt her, but she hurried on. "--besides, they look so much better on you anyway. They were way too big for me." She blinked rapidly, hoping her cheeks weren't as red as they felt.

He lifted the sweatshirt and smelled it.

She noticed he was sort of flashing her his incredibly chiseled abs.

"It smells clean. You mean, you washed it first?"

Sara flinched. "Well, of course I'd wash it. Well, my mother's housekeeper washed it. I don't know what she uses, but it's good stuff." Oh no. Did she sound spoiled saying that??? Well, it's not like HE'S not more spoiled!!!! Look at this house!!! Look at that helicopter!!!

Sara craned her neck to stare above her. She could just make out the helicopter speeding off into the sky. A thought occurred to her. She grinned at him. "So, were you, like, naked on that thing?" She pointed to the quickly retreating helicopter. She decided she couldn't help herself. Bentley was so handsome. Flirting just sort of spilled out of her naturally.

Bentley followed her gaze to the helicopter. His face spread into a sexy grin. "For the last few seconds I was, yes. But it's not like there was anyone around to care." He shrugged as if that comment didn't sound weird.

Sara gave him a funny look. "Who was flying it then?"

Bentley stared at her, as if confused. "No one. It's self-flying."

Sara closed her eyes. She put her hand to her head. "Good grief. Sorry. I'm so not used to robots. And talking androids. Helicopters that fly by themselves. And cars that know where to go."

Bentley tipped back his head and laughed.

Please laugh forever. And ever. And everrrrr, Sara thought. She could feel her heart slowly choking up with fuzzy feelings at the sound of his bell-like voice.

"It's fine," he said, once he'd stopped laughing. "I've had robots around my entire life. I forget that most people aren't used to them."

Sara bit the inside of her cheek. She hated feeling like less of a person.

He touched her softly on the shoulder. "Come on, let's head inside. Have you eaten?"

She nodded. "Erna got me lunch. She's so kind."

The androids walked quickly ahead of them.

Jay started to place cups of vegetable juice and various breads, meats, and cheeses onto a plate.

Bentley dropped into a chair by the ocean-view windows.

Jay placed the plate of food in front of Bentley.

Sara hesitantly plopped down beside him. She grew shy again. It was as if the sun had given her courage. But now, the air conditioning seemed to bring her back to reality.

She saw he had snapped his blinking watch back onto his arm. He took a huge bite of his meat and cheese sandwich.

"That's a cool watch," she said.

Bentley stopped chewing. He glanced down at his arm to the watch. "Oh, uh, it's nothing." Swallowing, he set his sandwich down on his plate. He hit a button on the watch. The blinking lights disappeared. The watch now looked normal. And somewhat dull.

Sara bit her lip. Okay, that was weird. Definitely weird.
