《The Boy with the Beautiful Name》Riled Up

Bentley gave her a lopsided grin. He took a swig from the bottle in his hand. "Like I said. I'm a terrible spy."

Sara raised her eyebrows. "You're spying on me?"

Bentley wiped his hand across his lips. "I was...I was just passing through." He took another swig from the bottle. "A-and I saw. That guy. Kurt with you. So where'd he take you? A strip club in fantasy land?"

Bentley stepped up the stairs to the porch. He now stood directly in front of her. He wore a plain black shirt and black pants. And now that he was so close to her, his eyes looked black now, too.

"You're drunk," Sara said. She pushed him, albeit softly, away from her.

"Come on. I want to know where he took you," Bentley said. He stepped closer to her. His musky cinnamon and clove scent engulfed her. It sent her heart into a frenzy. "Where?" he whispered, pressing himself firmly against her.

Sara's back hit the door. She gazed up at him for several seconds. But then, finding the courage she didn't know she had, she gently pushed him away again. "It doesn't matter. What Kurt and I do is my business. You're a player. Go play with your other girls." She'd managed to finally get her key into the front door. The lock turned and the door opened.

"Of course it matters," Bentley spat. "Kurt's a douche. You should ditch the guy. He's no good for you."

Sara hurried into her house, trying to ignore him. She attempted to shut the door in his face. But Bentley blocked the door easily with his arm.

"Fine. Come on in then," Sara said, glaring.

Bentley stepped through the front door.

She tossed her clutch and house keys onto the stairs. She made her way into the kitchen.

Bentley followed her. He placed his bottle on the kitchen table.

Trash, who'd no doubt been asleep, came trotting into the room. Bentley stroked the dog's ears. But Bentley's lips remained curled in a snarl. His brown eyes watched Sara from across the room.

"Why are you going out with that jerk, anyway?" Bentley growled.

Trash yawned and trotted back out of the room to find his doggy bed.

Sara watched the dog go. She didn't want to look at Bentley. "I like him," she said simply. It was sort of true. She didn't know Kurt well enough yet, but he was somewhat interesting to be around and he was definitely a looker.

Bentley snorted. "Yeah right. I don't buy it." He started to pace back and forth around her kitchen. "Okay. What do you like about him? Tell me. I sincerely want to know."

Sara groaned. What nerve did he have being here like this? He'd had a perfectly disgusting afternoon with his wonder twins. If he wasn't a giant who could crush her with his bare hands, she'd have thrown him out by now.

"Too bad. You don't GET to know!" Sara said, almost yelling.

Bentley whirled around. "Well I WANT TO! TELL ME!" he snarled. His face was getting red. And she could see his jaw and fists were more clenched now than ever.
