Sara managed to swallow the entire half-eaten hamburger before she got back to the bleachers. She wouldn't allow herself to care about the bet Bentley had made with her. She'd only worry about that if he actually scored a goal. And it had to be the winning goal.

She was about to take her seat in the bleachers when an idea struck her.

"Erin! Pam! Get up. We're going to sit someplace else," she said.

Her friends looked surprised.

"This isn't good enough for you?" Erin asked. "I mean, I can practically smell the team's sweat from up here."

Sara rolled her eyes. "I want a different angle, that's all."

Pam shrugged and collected her things.

"You're not leaving now, are you?" Ella called. She pulled at one of the three gold field hockey pins on her varsity letter jacket.

"Oh, you CAN'T leave! The second half is about to start," Dalia said.

Sara smiled. "We aren't leaving. We're just changing up the view."

"Sounds good," Kimber said, tossing popcorn into her mouth.

Trish gave them a curious look but didn't say anything.

Layla barely glanced in Sara's direction. She leaned over and whispered something into Ella's ear.

Ella giggled. She turned her bright eyes to Sara and her friends. "Well, if you're all moving, we'll spread out and take your original seats. More room for us!"

Ella and Layla immediately sat down where Sara and her friends had sat.

Pam tugged Sara's hand to lead her away. "Okay, uh, where to then?"

The stands were completely packed.

Luckily, the top left corner had three open seats.

"Wow, it's actually way better up here," Erin said, sitting down.

Pam took a bite of her ice cream. "Yeah, I can see the entire field now," she said.

Sara got comfortable between them. Folding her hands, she anxiously waited for what she was expecting.

The guys' soccer team emerged from the locker room. They jogged in a group back onto the grass. Their red shirts were vibrant under the field lights.

As the players took their places, Sara chewed the inside of her cheek, fighting a smile.

She watched as Bentley chatted happily with his teammate, Dan.

As the referees headed back onto the field, Bentley turned to look up at the stands.

Even from a distance, the sudden shift in his attitude was obvious.

He expected Sara to still be sitting in the same place she'd sat in the first half.

WELL, SHE SURE SHOWED HIM!

When he didn't see her, Bentley's handsome face instantly morphed into confusion. But that quickly changed to worry, and then to annoyance.

Clenching his fists, his narrowed eyes again roamed over the stands.

It seemed he wasn't used to not getting what he wanted. After all, he pretty much had EVERYTHING.

Sara put her hands over her mouth to keep from bursting into hysterical laughter. She really couldn't help it. Seeing his gorgeous face looking SO MISERABLE was about the cutest thing ever.

Good. Let him think I left. Will put him in his place, Sara thought. She knew it was a mean trick. He obviously cared that she wasn't there.

Bentley's eyes were only halfway up the stands when one of his team members slapped him hard on the back. Losing his focus, he gave his teammate an encouraging fist pump.

Again, he made one final sweep of the stands with his eyes, his face contorting into what actually looked like slight anger.

But he ran out of time.
