Xavier's pov:

Before I could look up to her, she hugged me.

That's it. Holy fucking shit.

Maya. My Maya. My wife. She is hugging me.

I didn't understand what to do, how to react or anything else. It felt like the ticking of clock had stopped.

I came to my senses when she tightened her hug. That's when I realised that I was standing still, without hugging her back.

I hesitantly put my arms around her and once I felt that she isn't uncomfortable, I tightened my hold around her. I wanted to hold her so tight to me that she could never leave me.

We stayed like that for a while before releasing the hug.

She smiled at me and said, "Good night Mr. Adams." She went towards the kitchen after that. I stood there, looking at her disappearing figure.

I don't know what was happening to me but I felt myself smiling alone and my cheeks were heating up.

That's when I realised that it was our first hug and I was blushing at the thought of it. Before anyone could see The Great Xavier Adams blushing, I hurtedly left towards my room.

I went in my room, changed into my t-shirt and trousers and laid on the bed looking at the ceiling. The thoughts of that hug and the visuals weren't disappearing from my mind and my heart. After god knows how many hours of visualising the same thing in front of my eyes, I got lost into my sleep.

Maya's pov:

He is back. Mr. Adams is finally back.

I couldn't express how much happy I was to see him there, finally infront of me. I didn't understand the meaning of this happiness. But, it feel good.

When he hugged me for the first time in the room, I was stilled. I didn't understand what to do and before I could hug him back, he backed out thinking I was uncomfortable with his touch.

But, that wasn't the case. I wanted to feel him near me but, I guess, he assumed something wrong.

Then after that, when he asked me if he could hug me near the stairs, I didn't want to wait even for a second.

I quickly threw myself over him and it took him sometime to digest the fact that I made a move.

When he hugged me back, I don't know why but I found myself losing up. If it wasn't for him holding me tight into his arms, my knees would have lost the strength to stand anymore. It felt really peace to have my head on his shoulders. That feeling is what's called heaven, I guess.

I didn't want to leave him but we broke the hug after sometime and wished each other good night.

I couldn't sleep for a few hours after coming in the room. The heat in my cheek was rising up and I could feel myself blushing. It was around midnight, when I slept.

Something poked my eyes, like it was continuously asking me to open them and witness the serenity of the morning.

New white rays that shine through window and the curtain are just the same, showing the beauty of the many tan hues that stick together. Amid the light, there are the beams as if they wave with the undulating pleats, yet in truth they are strong and true, giving structure and form. As the moments pass the intensity rises and softens, bold and gentle, telling that it's time to leave the comfy bed.

I got up from the bed and looked at the side table, towards the watch to see that it was 10:30 in the morning. Last night, I couldn't sleep till midnight and that was the reason why I got up late.

As soon as I thought of last night the hug, it came to my mind. Before I could start blushing again and get lost in the memory, I got up and went towards the washroom.

I got ready and went towards the kitchen to have my breakfast.

"Good morning Anna." I shouted excitedly and hugged her.

"Good morning darling. What's up with this tight hug and a huge smile?" She asked hugging me back.

"Nothing. I'm just happy."

"Why do I assume that this happiness has something to do with Xavier's return?" She asked me smirking.

"No. It has nothing to do with that." I told her. I felt heat crawling up my cheeks at his mention.

"You mean to say that you're not happy that he came back." She asked me widening her eyes.

"No no. That's not what I meant."

"Then, what did you mean?" Anna asked me.

"I..I..I am hungry." I said, not knowing what to answer her question.

"Relax darling. I'm just messing around with you. You don't have to justify your mood.

Come. I'll get your breakfast served." She said laughing.

I embarrassingly went and sat on the dining table. The house help served my breakfast and Anna came and sat beside me, just to give me company.

I looked here and there to see Mr. Adams but, he was nowhere to be seen.

"Looking for someone?" Anna asked me.

"No. Uh..Why do you ask?" I asked her focusing back on my plate.

"I know darling, you're searching for Xavier. He went to the office in the morning itself. Some work had to be done."

"But, it's Saturday. It's weekend." I replied.

"No rest for the wicked. He is the Boss. He has to be there whenever work demands his presence, despite it being the weekend or anything."

"Yeah... you're right. "

I ate the breakfast and went to my room after that. I took out my laptop to check my project that I need to complete.

I was looking at the requirements of the cleint when my phone rang. It was an unknown number.

I put the phone between my ear and shoulder and went back to my typing.

"Hello." Came from the other side.

"Miss Jones speaking. How may I help you?"

"You sure that it's Miss Jones speaking?" The other person asked.

"Wouldn't I know my own name? "

"I don't know. But, maybe it's not Miss Jones."

"Listen, if it's some prank call and Daisy is the incharge of this, then please we'll do this thing afterwards. I'm busy right now. " I said irritated.

"Oh God Maya. You get offended so easily." That person said laughing.

"That's all. I'm hanging up."

"Wait, don't hang up. It's me, Xavier."

I got scared or shocked, I would say, to find out Mr. Adams on the other side of the call.

"Hey! Maya. Are you there?" He asked, not hearing anything from my side.

"Yeah yeah. I'm here. Sorry that I didn't recognise you. I didn't have your number. Wait! How did you get my number?"

"What made you think that I wouldn't have my wife's number, whom I married some one and a half months back?"

"Uh...you called for something important?" I asked him, having no answer to his question.

"Why? Can't I talk to my wife without any reason?"

"No. I didn't mean that."

" Relax Maya. I was just kidding."

"Oh. Okay."

"Actually, I wanted to know, what are you doing this evening?"

"Uh.. nothing. I have a code to finish. But, that'll be done till afternoon."

"Okay. Great. I wanted to ask you something."

"Yeah, go ahead." I wondered what he wants to say.

"Uh... actually...oh God why is this so difficult?" He shouted on the other side.

"Just ask her directly Xavier. It's not like she'll kill you for that." I heard lucas' voice.

"Is Lucas there?" I asked.

" Yeah he's here." Mr. Adams replied.

"Hey Maya. It's me Lucas."

"Hey. What's up? Mr. Adams wanted to say something? " I asked him.

"Yeah. That dumb ass his having trouble just to ask a single thing."

"What's that?" I asked.

"Xavier, would you ask or should I do that for you?"

Lucas asked Mr. Adams.

"No. I will ask her. You, get out of my office before I kick you myself."

"Hey! You can't talk to my brother like this." I got defensive for Lucas.

"Here comes my sister for my rescue." Lucas said laughing.

"Lucas, we'll talk about this later. Just from here right now."Mr. Adams shouted on Lucas.

"Okay fine. I'm going. But, you better talk to her or I'll do that." Lucas said. I guess he left after that.

"Maya, are you there?" Mr. Adams asked.

"Yeah . I'm there."

"Uhh...I wanted to ask that, are you free this evening?"

"Mr. Adams, you already asked this and I answered too. You wanted to ask something else." Now, I was getting irritated.

"Actually, would come for dinner with me?"

To say that I was shocked, would be an understatement at this point.

"Uh...You want to go dinner. That too with me?"

"Why would I not want to go with you?"

"I don't know. Maybe because I may embarrass you there." I told him.

"What made you say that? You can't ever embarrass me. You know what, we'll talk about this in the evening. Will you come or not?" He asked me.

"Yeah. I'll come." I happily said yes.

"Great then. I've talked to Dan. She'll come at the mansion with your dress. Get ready by 7. I'll pick you up. Bye. I have an important meeting right now."

Without even waiting for my answer, he cut the call.

I was too overwhelmed to react on anything right now. For nearly an hour, I sat quite on the bed thinking that why would someone as sophisticated as Mr. Adams, would wanna go on a dinner with someone like me.

I was lost in my chain of thoughts when Dan entered my room.

" Where were you lost? I knocked like some 10 times. You didn't respond. So, I came inside to see if you're alright." She said.

"Sorry, I didn't hear the knock."

"What happened? You look stressed. Is it about the evening thing?" She asked.

"Yeah. Dan, I'm really nervous and anxious about this. Why would someone like Mr. Adams want to go a dinner with me? It isn't something bad, right?"

"Don't get me wrong Maya. But tell me, do you still doubt that Xavier will do something to you?" She asked me in the most polite way.

"No Dan. Not at all. I don't doubt him anymore. I just , don't know what's happening to me." I was frustrated with the non-stop flow of emotions within me.

"You know that you can talk to me. Don't consider me as his sister. Think of me as your own sister or friend."

"Yes, I know that Dan. You know, I feel really nice when he thinks of me or does something for me. But, I also know that I'm not gonna fit in his types. You guys, are all billionaires. But, I'm a normal middle class girl. I'll never fit into your society. That's the reason, I feel that I'll embarrass him and he'll be ashamed of me."

"That's the reason we all like you so much Maya. You don't fit into our society. And we don't even want you to fit here. This whole money power and the people who have that power are the most selfish ones, you'll ever see. All they love, is their money and status. But, you aren't like them. You're the most selfless and kind person I've ever seen. You love us for who we are and not for our money. That's what differentiates you from others.

So, you can never embarrass Xavier or anyone of us. You are our pride . Get that?"

I was really touched by Dan's words. I hugged her and thanked her for uplifting my confidence.

"You know what Dan, both of you siblings have a way with your words."

She laughed and said, "I know that. That's what made it easy for me to make Lucas fall for me. Having better conversation skills is important in both, personal and professional life."

"I'll take that note Mam."

We both chit chatted for a while and had lunch with Anna. It was really a fun time to spend with both of them.

It was around 5 when Dan asked me to start getting ready.

We both came upstairs and went in her room. There were some bags kept on the bed.

"This is your dress and some accessories to go with it." She said and took out the dress from the bag.

It was a beautiful copper brown, shiny dress with some sparkles and shimmer on it. It was an off shoulder, sweetheart neckline dress which I assume would end a little above my knees.

"Dan. It's really a beautiful piece. But, don't you think that it'll be too much just for a normal dinner. Plus, I've never worn such revealing clothes and you know the reason."

"Yeah I know that you were never allowed to wear such clothes. But, you're no longer with your parents. You can wear whatever you want to.

And, my darling, it isn't just a normal dinner. It's a date. That too your first date with your husband."

"What? A date?"

"Yeah. I knew that Xav won't tell you about the date thing. He was too scared to talk to you about it. But, it's okay. Everyone is nervous for their first date."

I was too shocked to say anything. I was going on a date and I didn't know that the entire time.

"Now, let's not waste the time. You've to get ready."

It was around 6.30 when Dan finished my hair and makeup. She told me that Mr. Adams asked her to not overdo anything as I won't like it. I really liked that he thought so much about me. I was nervous as well as excited to go with him today.

Xavier's pov:

It was almost 6.30 when I reached the mansion. I quickly went to my room, had a shower and took some extra efforts to get ready. I know that, till date I haven't made any efforts to impress someone. But, today I want to do that for Maya.

It was still 5 minutes left for 7. But, as impatient as I was today, I went towards Dan's room. Mimi told me that they both were there in her room.

I could hear both of theirs laughing at the door itself. It was open. I pushed it a little to see the most breathtaking sight ever.

Dan was taking Maya's pictures and she was looking at the camera. They both were talking something and Maya was laughing her heart out.

She was looking extremely beautiful in that dress. I am gonna have a real hard time controlling myself today.

"Oh Xavier. When did you come?" Dan brought me back to my senses.

"Just a minute ago." I replied, still my eyes refusing to leave Maya's sight.

"How's Maya looking Xav?" Dan asked.

"Extremely breathtaking." Words flew out of my mouth automatically.

When I realised what I said, I quickly averted my gaze from Maya and looked at Dan.

"I mean to say that it's a breathtaking dress and she's also looking nice."

"Yeah yeah yeah. I know it all, dear brother." Dan laughed.

"Anyways, I should get going now. Lucas is already home. Bye Maya. Bye Xav." She hugged us both and went towards the door.

"All the best both of you. And, don't go all dirty on the first date itself." Dan shouted from the hallway.

Before I could say anything to her, I remembered that Maya knows nothing about the date thing.

"Uh... I'm sorry about Dan. She has no filter to her words. It's a dinner."

"I know it already. She told me that you were scared to ask me out for date. That's why you said dinner."

"Uh.... I'm sorry that I lied to you. But, I thought you won't agree to come with me on a date. Wait! You mean to say that you know about the date thing and you have no problem with that."

I asked her smiling. My excitement knew no boundaries now.

"Uh..yeah. I guess." She said looking down.

" Thank you so much Maya for agreeing to come on a date with me. Let's go now."

I forwarded my hand towards her. She looked at me for a second and took my hand with a smile.

We came to the car. I went forward and opened the door for her. I could see that she was surprised to see my behaviour today.

Even I am also surprised at myself. Because, never ever in my life, I behaved with this decency.

I sat on the driving seat and took out the blindfold from my pants.

"What's this? " Maya asked me looking confused about the cloth.

"Please let me tie this around your eyes. It's a surprise for you."

"But,...."

" Trust me this time Maya. Please." I requested her.

"Okay." She agreed.

I tied the blindfold around her eyes and started the car. I was stealing glances at her all the time while driving.

I am really short of words to describe her beauty today.

She kept on asking me about the place every now and then. But, I kept quite about it. I want it to be a huge surprise for her.

Finally, we reached our destination after some 30 mins of drive.

I got out of the car, went towards her side and opened the door.

" Here, take my hand and come out of the car. Careful."

"I wouldn't have to be careful if you just open the fold over my eyes." She says with a hint of irritation in her voice.

"Don't worry. You still don't have to be careful."

"Are you opening my fold?" She asked excitedly.

"No. Instead I won't let you walk." Before she could say anything else, I picked her up .

"What are you doing? Put me down. I'm no longer a patient. I can walk." She said.

"I know that you can walk. But, being your husband, it's my duty to not let you any trouble. So I'm sparing you of walking." I laughed and walked ahead.

After we reached the point, I put her down and slowly opened the blindfold.

"Forgive me if anything is wrong here. It's my first time arranging a date. "

She kept quite for a long time . I was afraid if she won't like the set up.
