《Greed and Despond (Ban x Sin!Reader)》64

A large gust of wind rushed over the entirety of the group, us Sins and the Holy Knights. Everyone seemed to be unbothered by it, but most, besides our immediate group, still seemed rather apprehensive about our- or should I say Meli's- plan. It wasn't an unwarranted reaction, I'll admit, but you would think that they would come to terms with it rather quickly, considering they played a minimal part. Anyway, the gust of wind, blah, blah. The plan was beginning, long story short. Meli had cancelled his powers out, and we were about to the begin our attack. Mwah ha ha ha!
"You cancelled out your abilities," Captain Demon-Obvious said, cocking his head to the side as he stared at Meli, who was still as determined as ever to beat the ever-loving shit out of him. "What are you planning to do?"
Without answering or even acknowledging the fact that Hendrickson had spoke, Meli darted forward- slower than normal, but that was to be expected. He extended the hand in which he held his sword, attempting (kinda) to pierce the enemy directly in his unattractive schnoz. However, the demon quickly moved out of the way, grabbing captain by the collar and beginning to throw him forward, to which Meli counterattacked by flipping and grabbing him by the horns. He threw the demon down, sending him crashing into the already destroyed concrete floor. He charged down without even a second thought, kneeing Hendrickson directly in the chest.
"Time to start?" I asked, looking up at King. He nodded.
"I guess."
Gilthunder, from behind us, raised his sword up, apparently having heard both my question and King's reply. His voice echoed out, the attack following through and striking both Meli and Hendrickson head-on, "Iron Hammer of the Thunder Emperor!"
Man, he has really long attack names compared to literally everyone else.
A Holy Knight- one I actually recognized. He was the roly-poly guy from the fighting festival. I didn't get to see him fight, or anything, I just recognized him. He shook his little maraca things, pointing at both Hendrickson and Meli once again, dragging them both down so harshly with his attack that neither could move for a good few seconds. "Hyper Gravity: X30!"
After a few moments of the attack, Hendrickson outstretched his arm toward the Holy Knight, clicking his tongue.

"Mist Of Dull Agony!" The shout came from another Holy Knight, followed by the attacks of several others. They all continued to attack like their life depended on it, while us Sins waited for our turn. Any time that Hendrickson attempted to attack a Holy Knight or leave the area of attack, Meli dove in, taking the brunt of the damage, and keeping the demon in place.
Sadly, once the Holy Knights ran out of immediate power, Meli was left with the demon, both set to handle each other on their own (for the most part). I watched, flinching slightly, as the captain's body was sent flying upward by an outrageous attack from Hendrickson.
The two of them went back and forth, attacking one another to the best of their ability. Hendrickson seemed to be entirely unconcerned, as it seemed certain that he was going to win this fight. Although, he seemed to be catching on. He started questioning why the rest of us Sins weren't joining in the fight- why we weren't helping our captain. He resolved that we were too cocky, believing Meli could defeat him on his own. Definitely. Somehow, in that delirious wacko mind of his, he also decided the reason why Meli wasn't using Full Counter. Because he lost the ability to- as Ellie had only healed his physical attributes.
Pffft, yeah right! We're not idiots, contrary to what you may believe, asshat.
We now found ourselves standing outside of the ring where the two demons had been battling it out, staring down at the captain, who was beaten and battered from all the attacks of the Holy Knights. He lay on the floor, seeming unable to move as Hendrickson- who was beginning an attack- stared down at him in pity. However, before the demon could begin his assault, Meli darted up, holding him in a headlock.
Diane, from the back of the group, hiccuped as she slammed Gideon down, several large rocks and boulders rising up from the destruction around us. She whimpered as tears fell down her cheeks, "Captain... I'm sorry..! Rush Rock!"
"Stop, please!" Elizabeth demanded, stumbling forward and trying to help Meli. I caught her, helping her stand up straight and looking her in the eye. "(Y/N), you must stop them..!"
"Ellie." I said sternly, "Do you trust me?"

"But Sir Melio-"
"Do you trust me?" I asked sharply once again, staring down at her as King prepared to attack. She glanced at Meli, but looked back at me, slowly nodding her head. I smiled softly. "Look, I don't wanna do this either, but this is Meli's plan. He wants us to do this. Don't worry, we won't let him die."
"(Y/N)..." she whimpered, watching as a large sunflower erupted from the disheveled floor, opening up and shooting a beam. It charged down, hitting Meli and Hendrickson directly.
"Look, I'm sorry..." I sighed, letting go of her and walking forward. I looked back at her, flashing a shaky smile. "But this is our job!"
I turned around, running toward Meli's battered form. He was covered in dirt and blood from head-to-toe- I could hardly tell the difference between the two substances. He seemed hardly able to stand, panting as he held his sword with vigorously shaking hands.
God, Captain... This is a really stupid plan...
I jumped up, Asshole appearing by my side. I hate how he made us do the combined attack.
"Combined Attack!" We both enunciated as fire ejected from my hands, collecting in an orb in front of Ba- Asshole. Ass. Hole. The fire collected in an orb in front of Asshole, where it turned into a light purple color. Between the two of us, we both swung our legs in a roundhouse kick, sending it launching forward. "Hellfire Banishment!"
It went surging downward, and Hendrickson's eyes widened, his arms forming an 'X' in front of his face as he prepared to block the attack. However, it flew over him, crashing down just behind him, colliding with Meli.
Asshole and I fell downward, landing on either side of Hendrickson, who was looking at us, bewildered. "What are you attempting to-"
"Shut the fuck up," I said, rolling my eyes, exasperated. I turned my attention back to the captain. "Yo Meli!"
"Think that'll be enough?" Asshole asked, finishing my sentence for me. I glanced in his direction, eyebrow raised slightly. He was looking at me, but quickly averted his gaze back to Meli once we made eye contact. I grit my teeth, turning back toward the captain as well.
What a dickwad!
"Yeah..." Meli breathed, his voice nearly silent. "I'll take it from here."
"Dude!" I laughed, grinning at Hendrickson, "You're fucked!"
He whirled around, turning to face Meli. An explosion of magical energy had erupted around him, so great that a large tornado had formed around his body, swirling angrily just to keep the immense magic at bay. Hendrickson's eyes widened from in between Asshole and I, and like a sensible person, he attempted to move out of the way of the attack.
"Oh, no you don't," I said to myself, flames appearing around his ankles and latching themselves onto him, holding him in place.
"It can't be..." I heard him mutter, eyes wide as he did the only thing he could, stare at Meli and the immense magic that was coming his way. Meli grinned dangerously, looking at Hendrickson.
"Revenge Counter."
"This is the captain's ultimate move!" Gowther hummed from behind us, causing Asshole, Hendrickson, and I to all turn toward him curiously. I raised an eyebrow as he continued to explain, slightly irritated that he decided to interrupt such an epic moment. "He renders himself defenseless and absorbs the power of all attacks that hit him, so it's extremely powerful. However, it is somewhat of a double-edged sword, as one mistake in his damage-taking would be inevitably fatal." He then turned to Hendrickson. "Considering the amount of power the captain has stored, your chances of survival are 0.2%. Good luck."
Hendrickson growled, glaring up at Meli. The flames around his feet had extinguished, due to the magical power radiating from Meli, as well as my lack of attention toward them. He jumped upward, rearing his fist back as he reached the captain. His body was stopped right outside of the tornado of power, making his eyes widen.
Meli raised his gaze to look at the demon, "Hendrickson, you idiot. You threw away everything you cared about just for power."
The man's eyes widened, realizing his mistake, but it was too late, as Meli had already swiped his sword. Hendrickson went flying backward, and the tornado of power extinguished, centering itself on his body. Meli was midair, panting as he stared down at the man. His eyes were angry, and the words he said were so unbelievably cool.
"That... is your sin."
