Chapter 52 - Graduation Play (6)

Xiao Hang has shooting the next day so he had to leave with the production crew to the airport and didn’t go to the gathering. 

Everybody else other than Xiao Hang and Tan Ke was there. They had a crazy time. They sang almost every song that they could find online. In addition to singing, they also played out many classic scenes, old or new. Chi Ying had only planned to sit quietly in a corner but she the laughter was so infectious that she never stopped laughing. 

Then everybody started asking for Chi Ying to sing. Chi Ying was not one to fight for the spotlight. Quite the contrary, she released her own tender glow quietly on her own. 

Zhao Wan knew that Chi Ying was someone very easy to get along with but the impression that she gave the other boys in the performing classes was high and mighty. She was too overly pretty and her acting very skillful. Even her grades were impeccable. She seemed to be a all-round flawless person. Except when they were on stage together, others were intimidated by her. 

Everybody was very excited when Chi Ying agreed that she’d sing. 

Truth was, Chi Ying was never going to turn them down. She quickly stood up and picked a pop song. 

Her rhythm was very good when it came to singing and was always on key. Her voice was sweet and melodious.

A boy wanted to sing with her but, as soon as he picked up the other microphone and was about to start, he was chased off by the other boys. 

Even though everybody knew all the lyrics for the song like the back of their hands, but nobody sang with her. 

All they wanted to do with to appreciate the department flower’s singing quietly. 

Up to this moment, It had been very lively inside the private room. Chi Ying felt a bit uneasy with the sudden quietness. 

She picked the #1 song on the top song list precisely because she figured others could sing with her so as to keep the lively mood going. She smiled and said, “You guys can sing with me.”

Now that Chi Ying had said it herself, the boy that was chased off was encouraged immediately and, risking being chased off again, he picked up the other microphone and started singing. 

The third microphone was also taken up in no time. Those who didn’t have a microphone joined in as well. After three years of training at the film academy and days upon days of morning practice, everybody there was very skillful in their singing. When they all sung together, it sounded like music from heaven. 

The song that they were singing was romantic in nature. Qu YiZhe suddenly got an idea, he leaned toward Zhao Wan and whispered into her ear when nobody was looking. “I like you.”

Zhao Wan blushed immediately. She gave him a stare and smacked him, “Stop messing around.”

Qu YiZhe smiled. “I am not messing around. I mean it.” That was the very first time that he had put aside his usual joking manner and said it in all seriousness. 

“Oh. Alright then.”

“Alright what?”

“What do you think?”

Naturally, Chi Ying hadn’t expected that in the span of one song, Zhao Wan was stolen by Qu YiZhe. But she had always known that the two of them would become a couple sooner or later. Watching the two of them sitting together giggling, she couldn't help but feel a little bit envious. 

Chi Ying went back to her corner. 

During their performance tonight, Cheng Huan’s spot remained vacant. Now, at this mid-level KTV, there was no rich boys and no Tan Ke who was out to get her. Just all her classmates. Chi Ying felt very relaxed. 

In fact, she hasn’t felt so relaxed for a long time. 

Now that their graduation play was over, everybody would start getting busy with graduation and planning for their future. There wouldn’t be many more opportunities to get together like this. After Chi Ying had finished singing, even the classmates that she wasn’t very familiar with came over to toast with her and exchanged their Wechat information. Being classmates this entire time, Chi Ying did not turn them down. She didn’t think that cocktails could be so strong. After a few drinks, she started feeling dazed from the alcohol. 

There was a hint of pink on Chi Ying’s pale cheeks. She said softly to Zhao Wan, “I am going to run to the restroom.”

The music was deafening inside the private room. Zhao Wan, busy flirting with Qu YiZhe, did not hear what Chi Ying had said to her. 

Seeing that Zhao Wan was happy, Chi Ying was happy for her. She didn’t care if Zhao Wan heard her. She smiled and walked out of the room. 

The heater wasn’t on in the hallway and the temperament dropped all of a sudden. 

Chi Ying forgot her jacket and only had on a beige sweater. She felt cold. She smacked herself on her cheeks a few times trying to wake herself up but was still dazed.

She really was drunk. 

After she came out of the bathroom, she ran right into a sturdy chest. 

A cool scent entered her nose. She felt a bit dizzy and leaned up against him a little. 

Lu JingYan frowned a little, steadied her, and called out, “Chi Ying?”

Chi Ying struggled to open up her misty eyes. “Lu JingYan?”

Her voice was nasally and soft. Lu JingYan felt a shudder inside of him and his look deepened. “Yes, it’s me.”
