The elderly butler brought Chi Ying to Lu JingYan’s room.

Chi Ying remained silent for a little bit outside of the door before she knocked on it gently. Her palms were a little bit sweaty. This was the first time she had approached Lu JingYan voluntarily without being invited. She felt unconfident.

“C’mon in.” She was a little bit distracted until a low, rich, and melodious voice came from the inside. The voice was vital, not betraying a lot of tiredness.

The butler twisted the door handle and pulled open the thick and heavy door for Chi Ying. Then, standing by the door, he bowed and said respectfully, “Young Master.”

The decors in the room was as meticulous as Lu JingYan himself. That being said, comparing to the dark décor in his office at Oushi, his room did have a warmer hue to it.

Chi Ying looked at the bed. The dark grey sheets were neat and the needle was dangling next to the bed.

The man’s chin was pointy and some glow had returned to his cheeks. His clothes were more disheveled than usual. The collar was opened up a little. His collarbones could somewhat be seen and they were very delicate.

Lu JingYan looked at her, his look fierce and dim. He said in a deep voice. “You… came?”

“I am…” Chi Ying mimicked his pause; her tone was soft and light. “Here to visit.”

He could see it that the girl’s black hair cascaded down her shoulder, her face was white with a pink glow. She had on today a beige dress that covered up her knees. Under the hem of dress was her beautifully shapely calves. The tender color made her appear even more serene and nice.

Lu JingYan slowly broke into a smile. “Thank you.”

Chi Ying asked softly, “Are you still running a fever?”

“I am fine now.”

Chi Ying noticed that Lu JingYan wasn’t resting in bed.

His left hand was holding open a document and there was an exquisite black fountain pen in his right. The IV bottle hung up next to him was all empty and the transparent tube drooping listlessly next to him.

“Are you very busy right now? If you are busy, I can…”

Lu JingYan frowned. Then she could what? Was she going to take off?

He immediately put aside his documents. “No, I am not busy.”

He hadn’t even finished saying that before his throat felt itchy and, with his palm over it slightly, he let out a low cough before he added in a deep voice, “Don’t go.”

The butler came running over quickly. “Young Master, let me get Xiao Jiang to come and change out the IV fluid for you.”

Xiao Jiang was Chen Jin’s assistant. He was resting in the guest room while Lu JingYan was resting and had inadvertently fallen asleep.

Lu JingYan looked at her hand wordlessly. It was white, delicate, and soft like it was boneless. It made one wanted to hold it in one’s hand and dote on.

Under Chi Ying’s command, Xiao Jiang quickly sanitized Lu JingYan and put on a new bottle of IV.

The small needle only felt like a bite from a mosquito as it plunged into his skin. Lu JingYan didn’t even notice it but only looked at Chi Ying quietly. The fierce aura coming from him had all been neutralized by her tenderness.
