《Mafia's Love》Chapter 17

Ellie POV
In the morning I woke up and got ready to work as per normal. I was supposed to have lunch with Ryan but he pushed it to dinner instead. I don't know how he is going to manage to get us a reservation in that restaurant.
While I was locking the door to my apartment when I saw Aiden. "Hey," I said, walking past him toward the elevator. "Hey" he replied curtly and started typing away on his phone. We both went to the back of the elevator and leaned our backs to it. It was awkward silence all the way.
Suddenly my phone rang
Ryan: Hey gorgeous, see you tonight ;)
Me: Heyy! See ya :)
I realize that Aiden was leaning closer to me. "Can I help you?" I asked, looking at him leaning over me. "Who were you texting?" Aiden asked while texting on his phone.
"I don't think that's any of your business" I replied while getting ready to alight the elevator when Aiden stood close behind me.
Ryan: You heading to work now?
Me: Yup! How about you?
"Who is Ryan?" Aiden asked from behind me, scaring the crap out of me that I slightly jumped.
" I don't think it's any of your business, Mr. Aiden" I looked at him while he was just staring at my eyes. "Anything about you is my business, love" he came closer to me, and out of reflex, I moved backward.
He took a huge sniff, said "You smell good" and wink then left me in the elevator dumbfounded. I wanted to say he smelled good too but it would imply I was smelling him too. I shook my head and saw that Aiden was walking to his car.
While I was walking to my car suddenly I heard Aiden shout "Want me to give you a ride?". I look at him befuddled. "Nope, I'm fine. I have plans tonight. Thanks though" entering my car when he continued "Where are you going?"
"Dinner with a friend," I replied, starting my engine. "Which friend? And where?" he replied. "You know for a neighbor you are very nosy" I smiled and drove off to my office.
I did all my work and left to get ready for my dinner date. Truth be told I am very excited about the date because I haven't been on a date for a while ever since what happened to James. I got ready wearing the dress I bought for the date with light make-up, heels, and clutch.
I got in my car and went to the restaurant that we agreed to meet. When I arrived, the valet took my car and saw Ryan standing outside waiting for me.
"Hey!" I said approaching him while he was looking at me in awe. "Hey! You look beautiful, Ellie" Ryan took my hand and kissed it. Wow, he is sweet. "You look dashing too, Ryan" I smiled brightly at him.

"So shall we get in?" Ryan asked and I just nod in response. We didn't even have to queue and the server said: "Mr. Ryan, let me show you your table". We went up the elevator and got to the top of the building where the restaurant is at. When we reached the top it was the overview of the city. It was beautiful and I have always loved the view of the city.
There weren't many tables and I assume this is for VIPs only as it was quiet and all the people here were practically filthy rich. I'm not quite sure if I can pay for the meal here, well, thank god for credit cards right.
"Here is your seat Mr. Ryan," the waiter said, pulling my chair to allow me to sit. "Thank you" I smiled and saw that Ryan was looking at me. "What? Something wrong?" I checked myself worriedly, afraid I might be underdressed. "Nothing, you just look gorgeous," Ryan said and smiled and took the menu to order.
When I looked at the menu, my jaw dropped at how expensive this restaurant is. I won't be able to come back here so I might as well get something great then regret it later. I should embrace life with delicious food. I ordered for lobster while Ryan ordered for steak and red wine for the both of us.
"So Ellie, I would love to get to know you better. Like, what's your full name and age?" Ryan asked while intertwining his fingers together and leaning forward. He can be very charming.
"My last name is Summer and I am 24 years old. How about you?" I replied leaning forward as well. Two can play at this flirting game. "Ryan Davis, 26, what do you do for a living?" he continued. "I'm currently working as an accountant for my company, what do you work as?" I asked Ryan who is still currently just staring at me.
"I'm helping my father run his company and once I am ready he will pass me his company" Ryan replied and I saw a little bit of sadness in his voice. "Oh. What degree did you take during your college years?" I asked curious about what is getting him upset. "I studied medicine. That's my passion. I wanted to be in the medical line but I want to make my parents happy" he replied with a half-smile.
I reached out and took his hands in mine "Your parents are very lucky to have you. You are such a great son to them" I smiled and when I looked up I saw our server coming with our drinks. When I looked behind our server I saw the last person I wanted to see, Aiden. Shit. He hasn't spotted me yet and I hope he doesn't, please God don't let him see me. When I look closely he had a beautiful girl in his arms.

She is a brunette and has a body as a model. Wearing something I'm sure I won't be able to afford. Of course, stupid of me thinking that Aiden might even have the slightest interest in me. I looked away not wanting him to see that I was staring.
They were seated further down so he might not be able to see me. I was wondering how he got us the reservation. "Ryan, can I ask you something?" I asked while fiddling with my fingers. "Sure, what is it?" Ryan replied.
"For what I know, it is impossible to get reservations in this restaurant, how did you manage to get one?" I was kind of nervous. "If I tell you, can you not make it a big deal?" Ryan said fidgeting a little bit. "Sure" I replied.
"This is one of the buildings my father owns. He has hotel chains and restaurants as well" Ryan said rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh my god," I replied, still gaping like a fish. The server came with our food "This looks delicious! Can I tell you something silly?" I said shyly. "Of course you can" Ryan looked at me with a sweet smile.
"This is my first time eating lobster" I spoke to him softly. Ryan made a huge gasp that attracted some attention and I started laughing. "Stop exaggerating! I just didn't want to spend so much on food." I laughed while telling him. Ryan started laughing and said, "I'm sorry, I was just surprised".
"Having fun there, Ellie?" I heard Aiden's voice from Ryan's side of the table, I looked up, there was Aiden in all his glory. It makes me want to punch his stupid face. "Aiden, good to see you, this is Ryan. Ryan this is Aiden my.. neighbor" I said.
Both of them shook each other's hands and Aiden said "Aiden Black" while Ryan said "Ryan Davis". Aiden continued saying "Ah, you are Matthew Davis son I assume?" raising his eyebrows. "Yes, Yes I am. You know my father?" Ryan asked. "We had a business deal a few times. Great guy." Aiden was saying all this with no emotion on his face.
"Thank you. So, good to meet you, Aiden. I would like to get back to my date" Ryan smiles while Aiden just slightly nods. I looked at Aiden and he stared at me for a few seconds and went back to his table. While I was having a conversation with Ryan I could feel Aiden staring at me.
I wanted to look at Aiden so bad but I knew to look at him with the other girl would just hurt me so I decided not to. Besides, Ryan is a great guy, he makes me laugh with his jokes and dorkiness. I decided to look at Aiden and saw that their hands were interlocked.
See Ellie, if you would have just not looked up, you wouldn't have gotten hurt. Ryan was telling me a joke and I started laughing and touched his hand. We decided that we wanted to order dessert and we were going to share.
When the dessert came he took the spoon and tried to feed me. It was so funny and sweet that I decided to let him. We finished our dessert and decided to have a stroll beside the river. When I requested the bill to pay, Ryan just took my hand and said "Ellie, I'm not going to let you pay for our dinner. I was asking you to pay for dinner because I wanted to go out with you".
I shook my head as I know I won't be able to win in this conversation. "Next time I will pay for the coffee". Ryan laughed and as we left the restaurant we walked to the river and slowly strolled just feeling comfortable with each other's presence when Ryan spoke. "Do you and Aiden have something on?"
I was confused and asked, "Why are you suddenly thinking about that?" Ryan shrugged "I saw the way he is looking or staring at you. I feel like that dude wants to rip out my throat"
I laughed and looked at him "He took care of me while I was unwell the other day, I guess maybe he is just concerned" I brushed off the thought of Aiden caring about me. "If you say so, but I think there is more to it" Ryan continued.
We decided to go back home as it was already late. When we arrived at the building Ryan wanted to send me up when the security stopped him. He said something about the unauthorized visitor. Weird. Am I supposed to register him as a guest for him to enter?
"We should do this again. Next time, I'm paying. Deal?" extending my hand for him to shake. Ryan laughed and took my hand in his and pulled me to kiss my cheeks "Deal" I giggled and left.
While I was in the lift I still feel the tingles from Ryan's kiss. I was touching my cheeks when the elevator arrived at my floor. When the door opened I was met by a furious looking Aiden. Oh great.
