《His Hybrid Mate | COMPLETED》4.

Life really hated me. I have been avoiding his stare all day, and it doesn't help that he is in all of my classes. And there is at least two of his friends in each class too.
Thank god that it is the last period of the day. And I had P.E. which I don't mind. I liked to exercise. It takes my mind off a lot of things.
I put my books in my locker before walking to the gym. The gym had black bleachers, and the walls were white with gray stripes. I walked into the locker room, and I knocked on the coach's door.
She was a small woman with platinum blonde hair and brown eyes. She looked like she was in her thirties. She was a werewolf. I could smell it when I walked into the room.
"What can I do for you?" She asked, not looking up from her paperwork.
"I'm the new student. Brooklyn Jones," I said, clearing my throat.
"Ah, yes. Here is your outfit for gym, and here is your locker number," she said, standing up from her chair. She handed me black shorts with a white shirt that said North Bay.
"Thank you, I guess," I said, and she gave me a tight smile.
I walked back into the locker room, and I looked for my locker. When I found it, I opened it so I could put my clothes in it.
I changed clothes, and the gym clothes were not comfortable at all. The shorts were tight and silky, and the shirt was scratchy. I put my other clothes in my locker, and I pulled my hair into a ponytail to keep it out of my face.
Shutting my locker, I saw one of the girls from this morning, getting changed. Her bright orange hair was in a braid, and she was putting her shirt on when she turned around to meet my eyes.
I quickly looked away, and I walked out of the locker room to the gym. I could hear her footsteps following me, and I knew there was no way out of this.
"You're Brooklyn, right?" She asked when she caught up to me.
I nodded,"Yeah."
"Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm Isabelle," she introduced herself.

"Nice to meet you, too," I replied.
Before she could say anything else, the coach blew her whistle.
"Alright, girls, today we will be sharing the gym with the boys because they are redoing the gym floors in there," she said, and some of the girls smiled. "But we are still running."
They groaned while I tried not to laugh at their reactions. Coach blew her whistle again, and we started to jog around the gym.
Isabelle stayed beside me like she was glued to me. Ten minutes later, the boys walked in, and some of the girls fixed their hair and gave them flirty smiles.
I rolled my eyes, but then a familiar scent hit me. He was in here. And he knew that I was in here because his eyes were looking around the room. Then they landed on me, and he had a small smile playing at his lips.
"That's Grayson," Isabelle said, looking at me then Grayson.
Grayson. That's a sexy name.
He started to jog with the rest of the boys, but his blue eyes were trained on me. He was in gray basketball shorts and a dark green Nike tank top, showing off his biceps.
They were huge, and I could see girls looking at them, and whispered about them. Jealousy stirred in me, and I clenched my teeth.
"You must be in good shape or something," Isabelle said, after fifty minutes of running laps.
"Yeah. I work out a lot," I lied, drinking my water.
"My friends and I are going to the diner later. Would you like to join?" She asked, wiping the sweat off of her forehead.
"Um, I don't know. My aunt is-" I started to come up with a lie, but my phone buzzed.
I opened it to see a message from Melissa on the screen.
I won't be home until around 6 or 7. Got caught up in work. You can explore the town if you would like, just apply some more of that perfume. See you later.
"Sure. Why not?" I said, putting my phone in my pocket.
"Yay! They are so going to love you," she replied, brushing through her hair.
Since I was already changed back into my regular clothes, I put my gym clothes in my locker before shutting it.

"I forgot something in my locker, but I'll meet you outside, okay?," I asked her.
"Yeah. That's fine," she replied.
I walked out of the locker room, and majority of people have left already since it was 3:10. Those still here were busy with their clubs or sports. I walked upstairs to my locker, and nobody was up there.
The locker popped open when I put the combination in. I grabbed my bag which held my perfume, and I put two textbooks in it because I have homework.
"Dude, it reeks of vampire in here," I heard a guy said.
They were downstairs, it sounded like.
"Let's go check it out," another guy said.
I heard their footsteps walking up the stairs, and I quickly grabbed the perfume bottle from my bag.
The perfume must have sweated off when I was running. I sprayed the perfume all over me, and I put it back in my bag.
Two boys walked up the stairs, and they looked both ways before they saw me. They sniffed the air, and one of them shrugged.
"Maybe it was something else."
They walked back downstairs, and I let out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding.
I shut my locker, and I hurried out of the building.
I walked down the stairs in a rush, and I walked out of the double doors, not watching where I'm going. Then I ran into a hard tree. I rubbed my temple when I smelled my mate's scent.
I slowly looked up to see him, standing there with his eyes filled with worried. He was probably worried that I hurt myself since I'm 'human.'
"I'm so sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going," I said, stepping back from him.
"It's fine. Are you okay?" He asked, referring to my head.
I waved it off,"Yeah. I'm fine."
"You sure?" He asked, protectively.
I nodded,"Yep. I'm all in one piece, aren't I?"
He laughed at my little joke, and I smiled.
"Isabelle told me that you were coming with us to the diner," he said while we walked slowly to the parking lot.
I nodded,"I am."
"Would you like to ride with me?" He asked, hesitantly.
I licked my lips,"I was going to ride with Isabelle, so I have to check with her."
He nodded, but I could see the hurt in his eyes. We continued to walk over to his group of his friends.
"Guys, this is Brooklyn," Grayson introduced me to the group.
They all waved, and Grayson said,"That's Julian with the curly hair. Then Caleb is the guy next to him, and Tyler is the blondes headed one. Then there is Zoey with the black hair, and my twin sister, Allison."
That's why they look so much alike.
"It's nice to meet you," Zoey said with a smile.
"You too," I replied.
"Can we please go get some food now? My stomach is dying over here!" Caleb exclaimed, and his stomach growled.
"See!" He said, gesturing to his stomach.
We all laughed, nodding in agreement. They all started to load into their cars, and I started to get nervous.
"Brooklyn, will you be okay riding with Grayson?" Isabelle asked me, standing at her car.
I slowly nodded, thinking it over,"It's perfectly fine."
She smiled,"Okay. I'll see you at the diner."
She climbed into her car, and I walked over to Grayson's car. He was standing by it, waiting for me.
"I guess I'm riding with you," I said, biting my lip. A very bad habit I do when I'm nervous.
"Come on, or else the diner won't have their finest milkshakes," he replied, opening the passenger door for me.
"Thank you," I told him, climbing into his car.
"Anytime, Brooks," he said, using a nickname.
Brooks?
My heart fluttered at that name since it came from him.
"Brooks?" I asked him.
He nodded,"Yep. Your new nickname."
"I hate nicknames," I said, shaking my head.
"Well, you better get use to it because I'm going to be saying it a lot," he said before shutting my door.
He climbed into his seat, and he started the engine. Then we were off to the diner.
Here goes not laying low.

Bloodlines
Bloodlines is the first major story set in the far larger and immensely connected universe known as Infinitum. A group of renegades and misfits take into the sky in their fancy skyship to fulfill the prophecy they don't care about and defeat the Empire they care even less about. In the process, they learn things (they would rather not) of the fucked up Universe, dead gods, and the future that holds no mercy. Bloodlines draws inspiration from One Piece. But in the bigger picture, Bloodlines is one of many stories set in Cosmere-like universe where plots stretch beyond planets and star systems and stakes are higher than godhood (like in Malazan chronicles). Currently, I am planning to finish the first arc [Bandit Arc], add 10k words interlude with some revelations, then publish a story happening elsewhere. Then I will be back to write the second arc. For now, the Fifth Region has 8 arcs planned. Officially, there are 5 regions. The Fifth Region is not the shortest but is far from the longest regions. - PS. Pay attention to flavor text. Chapters published weekly.
