《His Hybrid Mate | COMPLETED》5.

"What can I get for you guys today?" A girl in her early twenties asked.
Her short brown hair was in a tiny ponytail, and her green eyes were looking around at the group.
They started to order, and I looked at the menu. A chocolate milkshake sounds great to me.
"And you?" She asked me.
"A large vanilla shake with a side of french fries," I told her with a smile.
"Alright. What can I get for you?" She asked, looking at Grayson.
She gave him a flirtatious smile, making me get this angry feeling burst through my whole body.
Grayson didn't seem to notice this as he said,"A cheeseburger and a chocolate milkshake. Extra fries."
"It will be out in a few," the waiter said before leaving the table.
As everybody got into their own conversations, I looked over at Grayson.
"Chocolate? Really?" I asked him, referring to his choice of milkshake.
"What? It's the best flavor out there," he said.
I shook my head,"Chocolate is overrated."
"You don't get to say that. You got a vanilla milkshake," he argued.
"So? What's wrong with vanilla?" I asked him.
"It's boring."
I scoffed,"Vanilla is not boring. Vanilla is creamy and simple."
"Mmph. Sure," he said , pursing his lips.
Before I could say anything else, the girl came back with our food and drinks. She placed my vanilla shake before me and my plate filled with french fries.
My mouth watered at the sight. Everybody else got their food, and I started to eat my food.
"So, Brooklyn, why did you move to Florida?" Caleb asked me, catching everybody's attention.
I cleared my throat before saying,"Um. Personal reasons."
They were silent for a moment before Zoey asked,"Do you have any siblings?"

"No. It's just me."
"Anything else?" The waitress asked, coming back to our table.
"No, we're good. Thank you though," Grayson said with a tight smile.
"Randy's party is going to be lit Friday night," Caleb said.
"You coming Grayson?" Julian asked Grayson.
"Maybe," he said before looking at me,"Will you be there?"
"Um, well, sure," I stuttered out.
"I'll will be there," Grayson told Julian.
My phone started to ring, and I looked at the Caller I.D. It was Uncle Brody. I looked back at the group to see them watching me curiously.
"I have to take this, excuse me," I said, pressing the green button.
Grayson let me slid out of the booth, and I walked to the bathroom. When I got into the bathroom, I locked the door and I turned the faucet on so they couldn't use their super hearing to listen on my conversations.
"Brookie, you there?" Uncle Brody asked.
I cleared my throat, putting the phone up to my ear. "I'm here. What's up?"
"Nothing. Just wondering how your first day went?" He asked.
"It went good. I met some....people, and they're nice," I said, walking back and forth.
"Are you okay? You sound nervous," Uncle Brody asked, making me widen my eyes.
"I'm fine. I just have something to tell you."
"Okay. You're scaring me," Uncle Brody said with a hesitant laugh.
"I found my...mate," I said, quietly.
Then I heard a high pitch squeal. I heard Uncle Brody muttered,"Jesus, woman."
"Who is he? Is he hot?" Aunt Riley asked, excitedly.
"Well, he is past hot. His name is Grayson....King."
Everything went silent on the other end. I knew they were still there because I can hear their breathing.

"King? As in Alec Kong's son? Next in line to be Alpha?" Uncle Brody asked.
"Yep, that's him."
"Does he suspect anything about you?" Aunt Riley asked.
"No. He thinks I'm human," I said, taking a deep breath.
"Brooklyn, if those people found out you had a mate, who is going to be the Alpha of the biggest packs of America, could you imagine the danger?" Uncle Brody asked.
"I know. I'm still going to lay low. I just need for him to think I'm human so he won't get hurt. I have this all planned out," I lied, rubbing my hand through my hair.
"Alright, well, we have to go. Pack meeting. Bye Brooklyn, and call us if you need anything," Aunt Riley said.
"Bye guys," I said before hanging up. I walked back over to the sink, and I turned the water off.
I unlocked the door, and I walked back to the booth. The group was in hushed tones, but they stopped talking when I sat down.
"You okay?" Grayson asked as his eyes looked over me like somebody hurt me.
"Yeah," I replied, eating one of my fries.
"Well, I should probably get you home. We have an..errand to run," Grayson said, turning back to the group who nodded with him.
He's lying. His heart is beating faster than regularly. It's probably something to do with the pack.
But wait a minute....he can't drive me home. What if he smells Melissa? He'll know that she's a witch. Which would blow my cover.
"You don't have to. I remembered I had to get something for my aunt. My house isn't far from here anyways," I said with a tight smile.
"I really don't mind," Grayson replied.
"Thank you for the offer, but this is probably a good time for me to explore the town," I said, trying to get out of this.
"Okay," he said, but I saw the anger in his eyes.
"Well, it was nice to meet you, Brooklyn. See you at school tomorrow?" Allison asked, making me look at her.
"Definitely. See you guys at school," I said, grabbing my bag.
"Bye," Zoey said with a smile.
"Bye," I replied before walking out of the diner.
I walked on the sidewalk, looking at the different shops. Each were unique in their own way. I sighed, knowing that I would have to wait for tomorrow to see Grayson again.
Stupid mate bond.
Fifteen minutes of walking, I was at Melissa's house. I saw her car parked in the driveway, and she was sitting on the grass. She was reading a book while drinking some water.
"There you are. Did you enjoy the town?" She asked as I walked up to her.
I nodded,"It's nice."
"Good. Now come tell me about this Grayson boy," she said with a smirk.
"Witch powers?" I asked her, sitting down next to her.
"More like a phone call. You're uncle is very protective of you," she replied, making us smile.
"What do you want to know?" I asked her.
"Let's start with his looks," Melissa said, closing her book.
Oh boy...

Riposte
Noël is known across the city of Portland—and not by choice. Under the care of the richest man in the city and just transferred to a new high school, she's already making close friends... and bitter enemies. A chance encounter on her first day plunges her headfirst into a secret underground tournament. Between suspicious classmates and utter strangers, Noël soon gets a taste for the addictive rush of the duel, but questions of love and trust complicate every move she makes. Cutthroat games with grim consequences await her in a shadowy world of competitors all dueling for the greatest prize imaginable. A new story from Etzoli, that one butterfly who writes things. This is a side-adventure I've written during the pandemic, as I've been having a lot of trouble getting into the correct head-space for writing my main series (The Last Science). Expect some rougher bits. Schedule is sporadic, but this will be a shorter one (closer to Snipe or Epilogue in length). I hope you enjoy it! Starting from today (June 14, 2021), I will try to update every week with a new chapter (as I have finished the site). The cover is from: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fire_in_darkness_-_LOHDI.JPG No copyright infringement was intended from the use of this cover. Notice 2: This is my first novel, it would be great if you guys can give me feedback (in the form of comments) as it progresses, especially in the first few chapters.
