《First one》Eighty-Two: I'm not picking sides

I heard Mia huff on the other side of the phone, knowing something was up with her. "I need you to come and get me." She almost whispered into her phone. "Please." She added as her voice turned into a sob.

Immediate panic rushed to my nerves as she sounded desperate. I was pissed at her for how she was treating Bells, but she'll always be my little sister, and I would never let anything bad happen to her. "Whoa, what's wrong. Why are you crying?" I changed my tone as I turned around, my gaze on Bella waiting for me at the table.

"I'm at Jason's. It's pouring outside and it's freaking cold. I can't walk home in this weather." She sounded lost, crying into her phone.

"What? Why are you there? Mia I swear-"

"Lukas now is not the time to lecture me, please..." She sighed. "I'll explain later." I shook my head, feeling bad for her, and bad for Bella as she made dinner and I now can't stay. I seriously debated what to do, whether or not to go get Mia, at the snap of her fingers, when she has almost cost me my relationship with the girl I loved most on this world. She's crying Lukas. She is your sister Lukas. This isn't negotiable Lukas.

I sighed into my phone. "Fine, stay put. I'll be there in ten minutes." At my words she let out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks, really." She muffled away her last sob at the thought I was going to be there soon.

"It's okay." I said before hanging up the phone, my feet dragging myself to the kitchen. Bella's gaze followed me as I approach her, her expression just as worried as I was.

"Is everything okay?" She pulled up her eyebrows. The plate of deliciously looking pasta in front of her.

"No, I'm so sorry." I shook my head, my phone still in my hand. "It's Mia, I need to go get her. She's at that loser's house."

"She's at Jason's? What would she be doing there?" She frowned her brows at the thought.

"I guess, I'm about to find out." I shook my head again. I felt like I was choosing Mia over her and especially ruining dinner like that was paining me. "Babe, I'm really sorry. You know I don't want to leave, but she's still my sist-"

"Lukas, what are you waiting for, if she needs you, she needs you. You'll be missing out on some amazing pasta, but that means there's more for me." She laughed and the love I felt for her at the sight of that smile, was indescribable. No matter how badly Mia threated her these past days, she was still acting like her friend. I stood there watching her, an apologetic look on my face. "Gooooo Lukas." She dragged out, chuckling as her fork hit the plate with pasta in front of her.

"Come with me." I blurted out the idea without thinking it trough and by the way she paused her fork before putting it in her mouth she didn't think it was smart either. I just didn't want to leave her here by herself.

"I don't think she wants to see me right now." She let her head hang low, avoiding making eye contact. "I'll see you after." She said before eventually having a taste of dinner. "It's okay, really. I am keeping the t-shirt though." She suddenly laughed as she eyed over herself, my T-shirt loosely hanging over her body.

I raised my voice while getting my shoes in the living room, still talking to her as I put them on. "At this rate I'm going to have to go shopping for new clothes. You little thief."

"Just an insurance policy that you'll come back." She yelled from the kitchen all the way to my ears.

At the sound of that I popped my head back into the kitchen, still pulling one shoe over my foot. "Bells, you don't need that. You know, that right?" I said, I little bit confused why she thought she would need something to for sure make me come back. "Baby?" I almost felt my lip pout, still unsettled about just leaving like that.

"No, I know. Just you never know what the universe has planned next." She said before shoving another fork into her mouth, her eyes playful.

I grinned as I walked over to her. "Oh, I don't know, sex, marriage, babies maybe." I smiled at her, almost making her choke on her pasta.

"Whoaaa Cowboy, hold your horse. Let me see if I can survive college first." She choked, the look on her face beyond amused.

I chuckled at her response. I didn't even know where that came from myself, I guess she made me feel so happy I actually saw her in my life way past college. A future with her sounded like a dream, a fucking amazing one too. "Relax." I said, putting my arms around her shoulders from the back as she kept put in her chair. "I'm not kidding." I teased her as I tickled her sides, her laughter filling the kitchen. "No but seriously, whatever the universe throws at us I'm pretty sure we can handle it." I kissed her cheek, the scent of her vanilla shampoo lingering around her and suddenly I was craving pancakes and other sweet stuff.

"It's now throwing Mia at you, so you should go handle that first." She laughed before she turned her face to the side, her lips colliding with mine. "Go or I'll kick you out." She laughed pecking my lips again, a little quicker this time, too quick even. "Your sister needs you." She smiled, her eyes caring, while preparing another fork of pasta.

"You're incredible." I pushed my lips to her temple before sneakily but fast leaning in over her plate and snapping away what was on her fork.

"And you're a hungry thief! Lukas!" She exclaimed as she looked at her empty fork while I made my way out of the kitchen. My mouth was filled with pasta and my lips formed into smirk. This shit's good, I'm really regretting not being an only child now.

Due to my little banter with Bells I arrive a little later than what I told Mia, the look on her face as I saw her waiting on the porch of that frat house fuming. The closer she got to me the more beaten she looked, her head hanging low.

"You're late..." She muttered as she looked the other way, her makeup stained face half covered with her long hair.

"Don't be annoying. I shouldn't even be here. Hell, you shouldn't be here." I shook my head. "Get in the car, Mia." I huffed, urging her to open the door and sit the fuck down. "Why were you here Mia?" I asked as she let herself fall into the passenger seat, her hair falling away from her face, the bruises to her cheek obvious. "What the fuck is this?" I frowned, leaning into her as I put my hand on her jaw, tilting her face to the see a scratch on her cheekbone, which was going to be a nice bruise tomorrow. "Mia!" I raised my voice at her. It was exactly the way Bella's cheek looked when drew hit her. Why is everyone always fucking hitting the woman in my family.

"It's nothing. Just take me home." She shrugged her shoulders at me before pulling her jaw away from my hand.

"Mia, that's not nothing!" I looked at her, her eyes instantly tearing up, the tone of my voice not helping. "Did Jason do this to you?" I sternly looked at her, as my hand clenched around the wheel. There are two people on this planet nobody will lay his hands on. My girl and my sister. The lack of an answer confirmed what I what thinking. Furiously I swung my door open before stomping towards the front door. Fucking asshole.

"Lukas, wait!" I heard Mia, run after me, her voice just faintly hovering over the sound of my fist banging against the door. "Wait! It wasn't him." I looked behind me to see a distraught yet shameful look plastered on Mia's face.

"What?" My anger still rushing through me from head to toe. I was confused and as soon as the door opened, the inside of the house added to my confusion even more.

"You need to get her out of here." The guy opening the door, widened his eyes at the sight of my sister. "She's a crazy bitch!" He huffed at her and I was not having it. Disrespectful pig.

"What did you call her?" I grabbed the guy by his collar without thinking. He may not have hit her but he shouldn't have said that either. The look on this pisspot's face was beyond fearful as I am pushing him into the hallway. "Where is Jason?" And without hesitating he nodded towards the kitchen.

"Lukas don't." Mia grabbed my arm as I stormed towards the kitchen, her hands abandoning me as we both saw a girl sitting on the kitchen counter, a bag of frozen peas pressed against half of her face. She looks like she was mauled by an animal. And at that moment I connected the dots, looking down at Mia who looked at me with an apologetic expression on her face. I'm pretty sure the girl on the counter was Margo or Marjorie, the girl Jason was screwing and that she just had an encounter with my sister's fists. Shit.

"Let's go Lukas, I don't want to be here." Mia pulled at my sleeve, her eyes begging me to leave her mistakes behind and go home. I guess both my girls had a lash out today and if they were still friends, they would have high fived each other for it.

"You did that?" I had to put my lips in a straight line not to let out an awkward yet enjoyable laugh. She had it coming.

"Yes, and now is a good time to go home don't you think." She whispered, pulling me out of the kitchen by my sleeve. "Please." She begged to the point my feet decided to move towards the door.

"What are you doing here!" I heard the most annoying voice in the history of voices from behind me. Scumbag fucking Jason.

"Picking up my sister, what do you think I'm doing." I huffed, looking at him with disgust as he threw his arm around that girl to prove a point. His point being he can't be faithful but also not alone, so he goes back to the slut he cheated with after begging my sister to take him back. Pathetic.

"She shouldn't even be in here, I kicked her out." He huffed, squeezing his eyes at me.

"Yeah after she pretty much kicked her ass." I laughed, looking at the annoyed face of the girl next to him, Margo, Margorie who fucking cares. "Come on Mia, we're going before I feel like kicking his teeth out." I laughed as I put my arm over my sister's shoulders, pulling her to my side.

"Bite me, why don't you come and try!" He tried to be a big guy but it only made him look more pathetic.

"And see you fail miserably, no thanks Jason, you are perfectly capable of doing that on your own." I huffed as I walked my sister out of the kitchen. "You deserve so much better that that low-life." I smiled at her as she leaned her head into me, the smile on her face worth coming in here after all.

"You're are one fucked up family!!" I heard Jason growling after us, but it only made me chuckle more. Yeah, we are some crazy family, thank god we are.

As soon as we got in the car I turned to Mia who was putting her seatbelt on. Even though I felt like putting up one front inside the frat house to defend her, I was still angry that she went back to see Jason. What was she thinking? "Why the hell would you come here!" I growled at her, the satisfied smile on her face evaporating as I made the car roar. As the frat house disappeared in my rear view, she still didn't give me an explanation as she just stared ahead of her. "Mia?"

"I saw Olivia today, she told me all about that whore Marjorie Jason slept with, I just lost it when I found out who it was. I'm sorry!" She shrugged her shoulders; her eyes yet again apologetic but I wasn't just going to let this and everything else slide. She's smarter than this.

"Yeah I know you saw that bitch today..." I rolled my eyes at the air. "You should be sorry for a lot of things Mia!" I turned to her, reminding Bella also got a visit my Olivia and Jess, resulting in her losing her job and breaking down completely.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She furrowed her brows at me, angrily crossing her arms in front of her chest.

"Never mind Mia, you just need to keep your mouth shut about your problems to Olivia." I shook my head. "So, what happened then?" I huffed, trying not to lash out to her about blabbering about her fight with Bella to Olivia. I'll give her my opinion on that later!

She shook her head and I knew what that look of disgust on her face meant, she found them together. "You know me, I wanted to confront Jason with it. I mean come on, Marjorie? Really? What does she have I don't?" She scoffed at the idea. "And then when I walked into that fucking house I saw them together and I fucking lost it. I'm sorry okay. I didn't think it would affect me that much, but I completely lost it and went for her. I'm sorry!" She cried, wiping away the tears of shame on her cheeks. "She deserved it though! She knew we were together; everybody knew!" Her cries turned into sobs. She clearly wasn't over that scumbag's betrayal and it broke my brotherly heart.

I reached out, my hand squeezing her shoulder. "Mia, you know you deserve much better than him."

As soon as I touched her, she shrugged her shoulders, shrugging my hand away with it. "Easy for you to say. I still haven't forgotten you lied to me about it, so maybe I deserve a better brother too." She bit, looking out of the window.

Is she fucking serious? "Auwtch!" I scoffed, her comment hurting me more than I expected it would. "Thanks a lot Lukas for dropping everything to get my pathetic ass out of there." I shook my head, pretending to speak in her place. "Ungrateful little bitch." I muttered underneath my breath.

"What did you just say!" She yelled trough the car as she turned to me, obviously referring to the part I muttered to myself.

"Nothing Mia." This is so fucking annoying! She acted as if the world revolved around her while there were people who have it a lot harder, who don't have people that care about them, hell who don't even have parents that love them deadly. "What the fuck is your problem Mia! This isn't you! Why tell Olivia about your fight with Bella?" I just couldn't not mention it any longer cause it annoyed me ever since I heard it from Bells.

"Oh, so this is about Bella again!" Mia rolled her eyes and shook her head, her face beyond annoyed. "Of course it's about her, everything is always about her. Jesus Lukas!" She yelled, and things escalated fast.

"Of course it's about her Mia. You should have kept you're feelings about her for yourself but instead you bitch about it to Olivia. Olivia of all people." I yelled back, clenching my hands around the wheel, my frustration reaching another level. "Jesus Mia!" I imitated her annoying voice.

"Oh, so the bitch can lie to me about everything, but I can't even talk about it to my friends?" She huffed loudly, throwing her hands through the air in front of her.

"Olivia isn't a friend, you hate her!" I growl, trying my best to keep an eye on the road as we drove through an empty street with little houses.

"Just like I hate Isabella!" She screamed, desperately kicking her foot against the side of my door. She's fucking lucky this thing doesn't have airbags.

"Don't fucking mutilate my car Mia! And no, you don't hate her! What's wrong with you! You're acting unreasonable! This has to stop! I wonder what mom and dad would think about this version of you! They would be fucking ashamed!"

"Like they are ashamed of you ever since you killed Logan!" Oh, she didn't just bring this up. I pulled over, stopping the car without thinking, my anger more than fuming now! That was low, especially for her.

"Get out!" I clenched my jaw, trying to push away the anger

"Why?" She widened her eyes as if she didn't know.

"Get out." I sniffed, feeling my heartbeat in my head, that was how angry I was at this point.

"No! We're in the middle of nowhere! It's still raining too!" She said, being a stubborn bitch.

"I don't care, get out. Before I accidently drive us into a ditch, and I kill you too." I tried my best to push my tears back. She hurt me where she knew it would, she knew I haven't dealt with the guilt, she knew it would hurt me and she did it anyways.

She didn't say anything. She just sat there and looked at me with big eyes, biting her lip, unmoved, not getting out of the car. The silence that fell over the interior was chilling, the atmosphere deadly. "I didn't mean to s-"

"No you don't mean a lot of things, but you do or say them anyway, don't you? Cause Mia does whatever Mia wants! Have you ever thought about the way you make people feel or consider what they have been through before you open your big mouth!" I snarled at her; her expression completely taken aback by my words.

"Luke I'm sorry." She whispered realizing what her hurtful words did to me, her eyes stinging with tears as I turned my head to her, starting the car once more. "I shouldn't have said that..." She tried to reach for me, the guilt all over her as her hand slightly tremored.

"Don't!" I sneered before she could reach me. I wiped away the emotion from my eyes before hitting the road again.

For a couple of minutes, she didn't say a word until she awkwardly shifted in her seat with her eyes pinned on me. "Why do you care I talked to Olivia about Isabella. How do you even know about that?" She carefully asked, trying not to push any more buttons.

"Because you have no idea what happened after! Seriously, have you met Olivia?" I turned to her again, the moment our eyes met she swallowed. "She thought it was funny to go to Bella's work and rub it in her face!"

"So what? It's not that I didn't say something that wasn't true?" She shook her head, already annoyed I was taking about Bells again. And I was annoyed that she went over it so lightly.

"You need to listen to me for once Mia." I said through my teeth. "She brought Jess with her. They made up some story about me cheating on Bella and you probably put the idea in their stupid heads. Bella was already upset by the way you act towards her. You have no idea how much she's hurting, no fucking clue! And with Jess and Olivia coming after her too, telling her lies about me she lost it. You're not the only one who got herself into a fight today." I looked at her, her mouth in awe as for once she did listen. "She freaking pulled the extensions off Jess's head, you should have seen her." A laugh escaped us both at the thought of it.

"That sucks." Mia quietly laughed, but I didn't mean it to be funny, I was serious.

"Mia, it's not fucking funny. Bella got fired. She pays for everything herself, college, housing..."

"What about her parents?" She frowned her brows at the situation. Of course she didn't understand, I promised Bella not to say a word to Mia about her parents, so I wasn't going to.

"They're not really in the picture. So, long story short, she's in trouble now. And on top of that she almost broke up with me." I was still not over the fact that that almost happened, still a bit panicked at the thought.

I looked at my sister and I could see she felt sorry for Bella, she was hiding it well but I saw it. "And what has your little sad story to do with me!" She huffed, trying to hide it even better.
