《First one》Eighty-Six: Your grumpy ass

I woke up to a hand going through my hair in the softest way possible as Lukas's fingers gently caressing my scalp while the back of his other hand went up and down my cheek. I found myself resting on top of his body, my face buried in the crook of his neck. My environment was still a bit blurry, but his soft breaths were so sweet I wanted to stay in our little bubble for the rest of the day, week year, forever. Everything went so well between us the last two weeks. Mia still hadn't talked to me and I had been avoiding her, giving her space. I hadn't found a new job and was a little short on money, but that was fine. Lukas's presence made up for all of it. And as for my tattoo, I hadn't stopped staring at it ever since he gave it to me, loving every inch of it.

"Hi." He whispered huskily as my eyes fluttered open, his scent filling my head and making me feel like I was in paradise.

"Mmhh good morning." I whispered, my voice still a bit raspy as we stayed up all night, talking and joking around while watching a movie in bed. We just couldn't stop talking and I couldn't remember laughing so hard for such a long period of time and I didn't want to stop. But when his eyes slowly started to become heavy while I was talking about classes and annoying professors, I knew it was time to pull the comforter over us and call it a night.

To everyone else Lukas was tough, arrogant, moody and by far not the most pleasant company to be with but when he was with me, he was a completely different person. He was just as vulnerable as me, he needed to be loved love just as much as me, he needed me just as much as I needed him. To me he was more than the handsome and mysterious heartthrob every girl on campus swooned for on a physical level. To me he was Lukas Kane Davis and I fell in love with him all the way, inside and out.

"You talked my ears of last night." He laughed reminiscing how we fell asleep.

"Oh, you liked it." I snuggled my face further into his neck, feeling his hot skin radiate onto my nose and lips.

"Do you really think so? It was dreadful, hearing you talk and talk and talk. You were so annoying I just pretended to fall asleep so you would finally shut up." He said and I knew he was probably smirking at his insincere words. His actions stating the opposite as he kept caressing my face. His finger trailed lines from my ear to my jaw, all the way over my lips to the tip of my nose. I hummed, lightly shaking my head to keep his finger away. Mmmmhh I want to sleep.

"You're a liar Lukas." I rolled my eyes while tiredly kissing the crook of his neck, his skin hot as ever. I reached up sliding my hand up along his face, all the way into his hair. "A L-I-A-R." I spelled; my voice still as exhausted as I was. I really need to sleep some more hours if I want to make it through the day.

Lukas huffed playfully, his hands wrapping around my waist tightly, pulling me into his arms more while my fingers were faintly going through his messy locks. "Oh, you know how to spell? Good for you." He laughed, the sound of his voice filling my everything.

"Who's annoying now?" I huffed slowly falling back asleep, completely exhausted by tonight's banter.

He pulled his face away from my proximity, feeling his eyes burn holes into mine. "Baby, you really have a hard time waking up today huh?" He whispered softly, his finger tucking my messy hair behind my ear.

"I'm exhausted, I'm tired. I need to sleep." I pouted, my eyes fluttering shut just before feeling a set of soft lips getting a taste of mine. "Mmhh, I'm tired." I tried to protest, completely in vain of course because his lips tasted so sweet in the morning and my body reacting to him as always, attracted like a freaking magnet.

"Oh, you're tired." He pressed his lips against mine again, holding on to my bottom lip as his tongue gently caressed me. "I might know a way to wake you up." He whispered, the husky tone in his voice highly suggestive as his finger slowly went up and down my arm, the sensation as exhilarating as always.

"Don't even think about it, I'm still recovering from yesterday." I smirked greatly against his skin as I thought about what happened before we decided to watch a movie in bed, the sheets already messed up from something else.

He was clearly thinking about it too as his hand disappeared under the sheets to slide his index finger from my neck all the way down my bare spine until his hand grabs a hold of my backside. We both fell asleep naked, which was incredibly cozy at the time but also highly dangerous in the morning. "You weren't complaining yesterday Baby. How I remembered it was you saying, Yes Lukas, more. Oh, Fuck me harder." He laughed mocking me by imitating my voice, not even using my words by the way, I didn't say that. Well, not like that exactly, I might have meant the same.

Falling back asleep at this point was useless as the thoughts of yesterday awakened me and my desire in and instant, his hand caressing me close to the building puddle between my legs. Not helping. "Well, as usual you couldn't keep your hands to yourself." I scoffed into his neck, my hand going through his hair more aimed.

"Snowflake, you decided it was a good idea to walk around your apartment in nothing but these black lacy panties and a T-shirt when we agreed on a simple movie night... What did you expect to happen? You're just evil. I bet you even did in on purpose. Let's drive Lukas insane and shit like that." He let out a laugh and he wasn't wrong. I might have done that on purpose to tease him, but then again how easy is it to trigger this guy, he adores me all day every day.

"Only shows you can't resist as soon as you see some ass." I giggled in the crook of his neck before pressing my lips against his hot skin, his fingers dangerously teasing my close to my spot.

"As long as it's your ass." He laughed, the sound of his husky voice only turning me on even more. At his words I sat up, straddling his lap, a fake surprised expression across my face.

"Aaww, only my ass?" I said with a devilish grin draped across my lips before tauntingly grinding my hips on him, making sure to let him know I was ready to repeat yesterday's dance. His mouth parted as he watched me sit on top of him, his heartbeat racing against the palm of my hands resting on his chest.

His fingers trailed their way from my back to the side of my waist, holding me in place as he pushed his hips up to readjust himself on the mattress. He suddenly sat up, wrapping his arms around my body entirely. "Only yours, but your ass is going to be late for class if you don't get out of bed now." His whispered before smashing his lips into mine playfully.

"But I don't have class until ten." I pouted, really not looking forward to wasting my time in the most dreadful class of the year, foreign politics. I rather say here with you all day. I threw my arms around his neck, one of my hands finding a way back to its favorite place, going through his messy locks.

"I do too but have you seen your kitchen?" He laughed while pulling up his brows, the fall breeze blowing through the room now cold as the sheets weren't covering us anymore.

"What's wrong with my kitchen." I scrunched my nose at him, just before his lips quickly tried to kiss the wrinkles away.

"Nothing apart from the fact it's completely empty, even the mice in your cupboards are starving." He said cocking a brow at me, his eyes looking extra light due to the black underneath his eyes, a result of tonight's sleep deprivation, caused be me and me only.

"Hey!" I playfully swatted at his chest. "I know this apartment isn't a castle, but it doesn't have mice!" I pulled a disgusted face, instantly making him burst out in laughter.

"Yeah, they're all dead now, for sure." He was mocking me, but he wasn't wrong I seriously needed to go to the store for some groceries. Only problem was I had nothing left to pay them with if I wanted to pay this month's rent. I was too stubborn to ask anyone for help, so I really needed a job, the sooner the better. I'm sorry for being broke.

"Very funny. Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha. Do you hear that? At least the mice are laughing at your silly morning jokes." I rolled my eyes at him, a smirk lingering on my face.

"Are you sure you're okay? Money wise?" He whispered as if he read my mind. His grey eyes looked at me filled with worry. I just needed time to find a job, and a job opening for that matter. He knew I was broke even though I wasn't going to admit it. He sensed it at the beginning of the week, coming to my apartment with take-out every time he came over, which was almost every night.

"Yeah, I'm working it out. I'll hopefully find a job soon." I lightly smiled, diverting my gaze. As much as I loved Lukas, I didn't want him to worry about me. He's worried enough with everything going on between Mia and I, and don't forget about Drew who still hadn't showed his face around college. Lukas was scared to leave me alone just in case Drew was planning something and I was more scared Drew would try to hurt Lukas to get to me. I tried not to think about it and being with Lukas was pushing me to be braver, for him, so he didn't need to worry and for myself, to be better, to leave my troubled past behind.

Lukas's grey eyes read me like a book, nothing new but I still wasn't used to it. He understood me without saying anything, without me needing to explain, he cared enough to see it when I wasn't willingly showing it. "You don't need to work it out alone Snowflake." He whispered tucking a strand of hair behind my ear before flicking his finger on the tip of my nose.

I shrugged my shoulders while smiling face wide at his sweet words "I know." I leaned in, pecking his lips, still tasting the divine and salty taste of yesterday's exercise.

"Which is why, I'm driving us to campus to the café for coffee and breakfast." He whispered against my lips, his growing smirk added to the mix.

"Lukas you don't have t-

"Then let me buy you groceries." He interrupted me, knowing I wouldn't accept. I shook my head no, but he already anticipated that. "Thought so, coffee and breakfast, it is." He smiled against my lips. "Now get that beautiful ass into the bathroom and get ready. You look like a mess." He chuckled, his hands playfully throwing me of his lap, much to the regret of his morning hardness, wanting me to stay in bed.

"Oh, well thanks Lukas." I rolled my eyes, trying not to get a morning mood while I stepped of the bed. But before I could leave the proximity of my bed and Lukas grabbed my hand, pulling me back to face him.

"Bells, even a mess you're the most beautiful girl I have ever met." He smiled at me wholeheartedly, meaning every word as the huskiness in his voice was replaced by sincerity and sweetness, his touch around my wrist soft and meaningful. Even when acting like an asshole you're the sweetest guy I have ever met.

After leaving Lukas, I went to the bathroom to get ready. I wore my favorite blue jeans and a forest green sweater, cozy and warm as fall was starting to get really cold and rainy, the leaves already starting to fall from the trees. They were forecasting some heavy rain, so I decided to wear my laced-up boots because no way on earth was I going to stain my new favorite pair of lilac high tops. My black leather jacket wasn't going to protect me from the rain, but it was all I got that was between being either too cold or too hot.

We drove to campus and stopped at the café, Lukas's hand in the hollow of my back guiding me inside, thunderclouds painting the sky rather dark. "Just go ahead and find us a table." He whispered near my ear as we were waiting in line, his hand squeezing my side.

When I turned to him, he was smiling, and I joined him, grinning ear to ear as I admired him in his light grey sweater and his Vans, something I never thought I would find attractive, but on him pretty much everything was. I had been smiling a lot lately, maybe more than my entire lifetime of smiles summed up and he was the reason. "Okay, for me a cap-"

"Cappuccino and a blueberry muffin. I know Bells." He interrupted me with a smirk on his face, reciting my favorite thing to get at this café, any café actually. The bastard remembered. With the corners of my mouth pulled up, half biting on my lip as I searched for a place to sit, I looked back, his eyes still pasted on me. Mmmh I'm a lucky girl. I almost, no completely, giggled to myself.

I found us a place to sit next to the window, the rain already falling from the sky and tapping against the window. God I love that sound. They had turned on the heating in the café, making it too warm to keep my jacket on. While I slipped my arms out of the sleeves, I found myself staring outside, my eye catching a glimpse of two people running through the rain like crazy people, heading towards the café. I didn't need to look longer than a second to see who they were, both of them smiling as they fled from the rain. Mia had found good company in Ben as he grabbed her hand to quicken their pace before storming into the café, they're laughter making heads turn.

I couldn't help the smile that was suddenly brightening up my face at the sight of them together, most of all having fun. Even though we still weren't talking, and I had been avoiding confrontation, she deserved it. Her happiness made me happy, and that was all that mattered. She hurt my feelings by acting the way she did, but I understand why she did it. She was hurt the most... Finding out your boyfriend has been cheating and everybody knows but you, it would have made me feel like a clown and deeply betrayed, not only by him but by everyone around me. She worked it out on me, and yes that sure does hurt, more than I thought it would, but she's still Mia and before our fight she was still the best friend I ever had.

Ben lied to her too, he knew about Jason and she seems to have forgiven him, so deep down I hope there's a chance we can salvage this friendship, because I really want my friend back. Now, stop staring at them Isabella, it would be awkward if you get caught. My eyes wandered off to Lukas talking to the guy behind the register. Wait, I know him. I wondered and as soon as the green of his eyes stood out from the rest of his face while looking up at Lukas, I knew. Zach? Zach from Drew's frat house? Does he work here? It's impossible to forget a face like that, and besides that he was nice to me that night, making sure I was okay after Drew flat handed my face.

The moment Lukas turned away from the register with two cups of coffee and a paper bag with more than enough muffins to feed an army Mia's eyes caught Lukas, her gaze following him towards me. As soon as I caught her stare, I felt very unsure of what to expect, making me squirm on my chair. Whereas I expect her to roll her eyes or throw lighting at me she surprised me by faintly smiling, and I returned the favor, an awkward smile coating my lips. That was awkward and definitely not what I expected. Even though it was a faint and polite smile, instead of the whole I'm Mia look at my teeth, it was still a smile and that made me feel hopeful.

"What are you grinning at." Lukas's soft voice broke through my thoughts and memories of my friendship with his sister.

"Mia just smiled at me, I still can't believe it." I said while he took a seat in front of me, his curious nature getting the better of him as he wanted to turn around. "Don't turn around, it'll look like I'm talking about her." I warned him, grabbing his hand to keep him from turning her way.

"You are talking about her?" He grinned, frowning his brows at me, clearly not getting my girl logic.

"Yeah, but just don't okay? Don't mess it up when I'm finally hopeful again. And she's here with Ben so it'll look like I'm gossiping about that and I'm not." I tried my best to be calm but the fact I earned a smile from her just gave me a boost of energy I couldn't explain nor contain.

"Bells, I'm not sure if you should still drink this coffee. You're already hyper." Lukas mocked me as he took the white cup away from under my nose to bring it to his lips, claiming my coffee as his own.

"Nah ah, Lukas. Give me my coffee or I'll get really grumpy." I laughed, trying to take the coffee from his hands.

"Try me. I can deal with your grumpy ass any time of the day." He said taking a sip while his smirk mimicked how delicious the coffee was. I know the coffee in here tastes like freaking heaven, you don't have to rub it in as I'm now coffeeless.

I decided that the best strategy was to sit back, put my elbows on the table and rest my chin on my folded hands and flutter my eyelashes like I was crazy. "Pleaseeeee give me back my coffee. Pleaseeeee." I pouted earning a headshake and a laugh from him.

"Fine, only because you're so cute." He scrunched his nose while putting the cup back in front of me without much of a battle. If I would have known this strategy works so well, I would have used it a lot sooner. I nearly wanted to facepalm myself for only now trying it. "Don't forget your muffin." He charmingly winked at me as he handed me the paper bag.

"You didn't have to buy so many." I shook my head at him for spending so much money on me. I looked inside the bag to find four deliciously looking blueberry muffins.

"Speak for yourself, I'm hungry like a horse." He laughed. "You're going to share." He said, sliding down his chair a little bit to get comfortable.

"No, I'm not." I bluntly teased him, pulling the bag to my chest so the muffins were out of his reach.

"Fine, if you don't share, you're walking to campus and guess what you don't have?" I furrowed my brows at his words.

"I surely have two feet, so I don't see the issue." I mockingly smiled at him.

"An umbrella Bells. Have fun walking through the rain." He squeezed his eyes at me, only teasing me even more.

"You wouldn't!" I gasped, dropping my mouth open to show him my surprise.

"Muffins are life, so I would." His answer totally surprised me and made me laugh more than I intended to give in.

"Alright now we're speaking the same language." I laughed loudly. "You deserve them now." I said, putting the bag back on the table, the look on his face beyond amused as he pushed the sleeves of his sweater to elbow height, revealing the ink on his arms. After months now, I still didn't get used to what that did to me.

Someone appearing next to our table interrupted us from diving elbow deep into the paper bag and having a tease of heaven. I didn't know how to feel as all sorts of feelings rushed through my stomach and memories clouded my mind. As soon as we made eye contact that same awkward smile from earlier found its way back to my lips. What do I say now?

"Hi." I sheepishly pushed passed my lips and into the world while the rain continued to tap on the window.
