《First one》Ninety-Six: Am I worth it?
Due to our little car adventure and the storm that wasn't just passing over the city I was late to my first class of the afternoon. Well, a lot late actually, late enough to make me miss it, just the class, I didn't miss economics at all.
After foreign politics, for which I was unfortunately on time, I was on my way home, ready for my girl's night with Mia. Lukas had a late shift at the tattoo shop which made tonight the perfect opportunity to pick up on my friendship with Mia.
Walking home was one thing, walking home in the rain, entirely different. If it wasn't for the cold air, and thunder scaring the crap out of me, it would have been soothing. One thing that was still the best about rain. The smell of it. I wouldn't be able to describe it because to everyone it smells different, to me it smells like a forest even when there isn't one nearby.
I opened the door while my clothes clung to me and my wet hair made me look like something from a horror movie. Please Mia don't make me watch a horror movie. I hung my jacket on the coat rack next to the door and already heard Mia's voice welcoming me. "Jesus Bella, you look like you drowned somewhere along the way." Her kind of welcome.
I took my shoes off and even my socks were drenched. "Gee thanks, you look like you haven't left the house all day." I pulled up my brows when I turned around, Mia standing near the couch in a comfy sweater and leggings, topped off with some fluffy socks.
The look on her face turned mischievous the second I assumed she didn't go out. "Oh, I did go out." She wiggled her eyebrows and it only took two looks at the smile on her face to know what was going on.
I walked over to her as a wet trail of rain seeping from my clothes followed me. "Mhhh Ben?" I felt my face turn into all smiles when I saw the satisfied look on hers.
"You're reading me like a book." She said, flopping down on the couch into the mess of colorful pillows.
I looked down at myself, reminding me I was turning the living room into a swamp with these clothes. "Okay, I want details. But first let me take a shower." I smiled at her, her face immediately on the brink of laughter.
"Oh god I thought you were going to say but first let me take a selfie." She laughed, settling herself between the pillows.
"Yeah. Nope, that's more something you would do." I laughed while walking towards the bathroom.
"Hey!" Mia whined trough the living room, seconds later a pillow flew right next to my face on the wall. Oh, now it's war.
"Mia." I turned around with a surprised look on my face. "Does that pillow mean you want a hug?" I pulled up my eyebrows.
"No, no! Stay there with your wet clothes. You look like the monster of Loch Ness. I just came out of the shower; I don't need the stank of rain all over me again." Her face scrunched in all sorts of grimaces. The stank of rain, I didn't expect anything else. I giggled to myself.
"Fine but throw another pillow at me and I'm coming for you." I said turning my back to her but not without checking my back on last time. Mia already sat up on the couch with a pillow between her hands and now a busted look on her face. "Oh, I dare you. I do really stink of rain. Just saying." I squeezed my eyes at her.

"Fine, fine." She let the pillow fall out of her hands as she quickly held them up in front of her. "Grab your shower stinky, I'll find us a movie and order some food. Pizza?" Of course, she picks pizza, she's addicted.
"Whatever you like. I'm hungry so anything that's edible will do." I laughed before disappearing into the bathroom.
When I had a nice and warm shower I put on some comfy leggings and Lukas's custom-made hoodie, which was now obviously mine. I let my hair airdry, praying it wouldn't turn out worse than what the rain had done to it and flopped down on the other couch, letting myself fall back into the soft pillows. Yup Mia's right, this is the best feeling ever. "The delivery guy is on it's way." Mia said, obviously too excited about her pizza cravings.
"That's great!" I lifted my head up to divert my gaze from the ceiling to her. "So, you and Ben. What did I miss?" I wobbled my eyebrows at her.
She couldn't contain the cutest chuckle at the thought of him. She's falling hard. "Mmhh, Bella I'm telling you, I'm actually alright with Jason cheating on me. I don't think Ben and I would have ever happened if I stayed with Jason."
Ooh so they're really happening. I squealed on the inside, utterly happy for her happiness. "Mia trust me, we saw it coming even when you were with Jason, that day at the club, you were acting like two little love birds. So cute."
"No, we weren't." She hid her face in her hands. She's so blushing.
"Liar. Tell me what happened after though, you never told me." I winked at her and she hid her face in a pillow. I could almost see the butterflies swarming around her and it made me happy to see her like that.
"I know I was with Jason at the time and that it was wrong-"
I cut her off because she didn't need to feel bad about it in my eyes. She did what felt right, and everyone could see she was feeling much happier with just being friends with Ben than having a relationship with Jason. "You don't need to justify yourself Mia. If you felt good being with him than that meant something." I sat up right on the couch so I could have this conversation with her face to face. That, and my abs were starting to hurt from my previous position, time for a change.
"Still it was also cheating." She looked up from her pillow and I could feel she felt like she betrayed him, even if it was nothing like he was doing at the time.
"It's not like you had sex with him." I pulled up my legs to my chest and folded my arms around them. "You didn't, right?" I wiggled my eyebrows at her again and straight away the pillow she was holding came flying to my face.
"No! Of course not." I quickly ducked but I was too late as the pillow hit my face.
"Then tell me what happened." I whined, unable to hide my curiousness. I even didn't want to get back at her for throwing another pillow at me.
"Ggrrr Fine!" She rolled her eyes at me with a smile on her face. Despite the eyeroll she wasn't reluctant at all, I could tell, she is my best friend. "Alright!" She started with enthusiasm beaming from her face. "I was drunk remember?"

"Drunk and cute." I chuckled thinking back at that evening in the club.
"Well, Ben told me I begged him to go home with him and so... I could barely stand on my own legs... Bella never ever has a guy carried me for 6 blocks! He rather had his arms fall of instead of me walking, trying to walk." The amazement on her face was easy to read and clear as day. If her eyes could take the shape of hearts they would have.
"Go on, go on." I almost clapped in my hands; her enthusiasm infectious.
She nearly squealed as her continued to talk. "Once we were at his place, we spend the rest of the night talking on his bed. He wanted to let me sleep but I pulled him back because I'm a talker when I'm drunk. So, we talked until I was kind of sober. He's just so easy to talk to, he gets me in ways nobody does. It's weird like he's my better half but we're also exactly the same." She kept going while her eyes lit up by ever words that passed her tongue. All I could do was nod and swoon. "I was laying on my side and I was looking at him. Bells, his eyes, have you seen them! They just sucked me right in and while he was talking all I could do was stare at his lips."
"Look? Mia, you had a taste too, that's more than looking." I stuck my tongue out at her in a taunting way.
"Yes, yes alright, I had a taste. Do you want to hear how it happened or not?" She widened her eyes at me, and I immediately put my lips in a straight line, sealing them to have her finish the story. "I was staring at his lips while he was telling me a story, I just was pulled to him like a magnet and kissed him in the middle of his sentence. At first, I thought oh my fucking god what the hell am I doing, but then I felt something I never felt before." She was so excited that I couldn't contain myself any longer, my lips rapidly unsealing.
"Did he kiss you back?" I quickly put my hand in front of my mouth, because I wasn't supposed to be talking, but underneath it I hid a very mischievous smile. I need details.
"Yeah." She said all dreamy while letting her back fall against the couch. "He did. He started smiling against my lips and I thought oh oh I'm being ridiculous, I'm such a clown, so I pulled back but then he kissed me back and Isabella, everything on the inside exploded. I can't even describe how I felt." The smile on her face was infinite and that gave me a rush of happiness. "Jesus, we almost went past kissing, like waaaaaaaay past kissing." She covered her face in her hands again, shaking it.
"Was it good?" I laughed on a highly suggestive tone, earning a scrunched face in return.
"Kissing someone never felt so right but it was wrong." She said, the tone of her voice guilty. "If Ben hadn't stopped us we both would have regretted it. I was still drunk and for him it would have felt like he was a second choice if I went back to Jason the day after."
"Ben knew about Jason too." I carefully slipped, immediately regretting it with the fear for her reaction.
"I know, I was mad at him for a while. I was mad at everyone for a while. At you too, but you know that." She laughed. Oh thank god she's laughing about it now.
"All forgiven though, like really forgiven?" I hesitantly said, still afraid she would have changed her mind.
"All forgiven, except for that scumbag Jason. That idiot! Tell me Bella, what did I ever see in that guy!" Her overly dramatic tone made me chuckle and the look she pulled on her face as if she had eaten something bad almost made me burst out in laughter.
"I don't get it either. He's not even that cute." I scrunched my nose too at the thought of Jason. I mean on the outside he was damn good-looking but let's say the rotten inside didn't keep the packaging clean. "Ben's a lot cuter. And a good guy." I looked at her with mischief.
"I know right!" She laughed, her face changing from a frown to a light and happy expression.
"So are you two together, together?" I couldn't help it, I needed an answer to the thousand questions in my head. Enthusiasm does that to a person.
"I don't know." She growled into the pillow as if she didn't know what to do next.
"What do you mean you don't know! If that expression on your face isn't the look of cupid hitting you right between the eyes, I don't know what is!" I said surprised. These two are meant to be together how can they not know. "Do you have feelings for him?"
"Since before that night in the club..." She hesitantly confessed. "I don't know I have always pushed it away or denied it because I was with the one who's name I don't want to hear from now on. When I look back at it, yes I have been having feelings for him for a while actually."
"That's good isn't it?" I asked her, not sure why she was doubting her own feelings. I also couldn't get over the bombshell she dropped on her feeling for Ben long before the club.
"Yeah, we always have a great time. Like this afternoon, we hung out, ate some ice-cream-"
"See he already knows the way to your heart." I interrupted her as soon as she told me they went to get her favorite dessert.
"Oh, shut up." She laughed. "I just want to be sure he feels the same." She took the pillow in her arms to hug it, seeking comfort in it.
"Why don't you ask him?" I shrugged my shoulders while she let her face fall into the pillow, nodding at my question. Her hand left her side and patted the couch until it found her phone. "Not through a text Mia! What are you!" I gasped when I saw her typing something in her phone.
"A clown, I'm a clown!" She said surprised while dropping the phone in her lap and holding up her hands as if she was being arrested. "See, I don't know what to do!" She whined, falling sideways on the couch acting as if she just died. I was laughing my lungs out, especially when the doorbell rung and she suddenly resurrected. "That's our pizza!" She yelled trough the living room before sprinting towards the door, almost slipping on her fluffy socks. "Shit!" She laughed while trying to keep herself from faceplanting the hardwood floor.
Once our pizza box was securely laying in our laps the movie night could begin. We started with Bride wars and of course Mia couldn't shut up on when she was going to be my bridesmaid. She seemed so excited and of course I couldn't not joke about her not being invited to the wedding, which almost earned me a third pillow in the face. Then we started on John Tucker Must Die and started hating on the guy after ten minutes.
Halfway through our film and our first buckets of popcorn we were disturbed by a sighing Lukas shutting the door behind him, his backpack loudly thudding on the floor. But as soon as he met my questioning gaze a smile appeared on his face. "Pfff! I'm exhausted!" He smiled while letting himself fall onto the couch. He settled for lying down on his back, his head flopping down into my lap. He looked up, smiling at me. "Hi." He grinned, almost batting his eyelashes.
Damn, why does he always have to be so cute. "Hi." I said, smiling down at him, nearly chuckling at the sight of his head in my lap. I couldn't resist and brushed my fingers through his thick hair. Petting his head had a soothing effect on him as he closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment. "Are you tired?" I whispered, trying not to disturb Mia as she was sucked into the movie.
"I'm done for today!" He sighed, exhaling deeply while he kept his eyes closed as if he was already wandering off. "I had a very tiring break in the afternoon." He said while a smirk appeared on his face.
"Oh, is that so?" I played dumb while I knew exactly what he was talking about, I was there and oh god was that some break. A damn good one.
"Mhhhmmhh." He hummed loudly, and by the way his muscles moved in his face he was thinking about it now, still enjoying every second of it.
"Lukas, no offence but you're ruining movie night." Mia scoffed at him in a very sisterly manner, it even made me bite my bottom lip so I could keep my upcoming laugh to myself.
Lukas slightly shifted his head in my lap and looked back at the other couch. "Ohh, you're here too." He acted not so surprised and rolled his eyes to the back of his head.
"You saw me Lukas don't be so annoying! Now let us finish our movie please. You're a party-pooper with your sighing and whining!" Mia said dramatically, like only she could.
"Sorry but I'm not getting off this couch any time soon." He said, his voice truly sounding tired while I kept pushing my hand through his hair, massaging his scaled and he seemed to love everything about it as he hummed and closed his eyes again.
"Don't worry Mia, he'll be quiet." I laughed while grabbing I slice of leftover pizza from the box next to me on the couch, stuffing it into Lukas's mouth, his hand grabbing the slice from mine while Mia's laughter filled the room.
"Babe what the fuck!" He said full of surprise when he opened his eyes, his gaze immediately on the slice of pizza in his hand.
"Calm down, it's just pizza." I laughed.
"Oh calm down, it's just pizza." He said mimicking my voice. "You nearly chocked me! I wouldn't mind it in the bedroom but not with a fucking slice of pizza." He laughed, having a bit bite from the slice while he kept lying down as if nothing happened.
"Too. Much. Details. Lukas! That's gross, seriously." Mia raised her voice and widened her eyes at what she had heard, her hand throwing a handful of popcorn Lukas's way.
"Hey!" Lukas growled at his sister when the popcorn fell on his face. I picked the pieces away and started going trough his hair again, Lukas totally easing into it as he enjoyed being cared for. Mmm, the love I have for this guy, I can't even describe it, he's my everything. I mean look at him all cute and relaxed. Babe if it wasn't for you, I don't know what would have happened to me. I told him in my mind while I adored the way his breathing slowed down and his eyes fluttered. He was smiling while he was falling asleep, my hand softly caressing his scalp while the other went down the collar of his hoodie, tracing the tattoo in his neck. You're so perfect.
"Is he asleep?" Mia whispered, while she glanced over her brother with a smile on her face. I nodded, not wanting to wake him up already, we still had half a movie to go. "Took him long enough." She whispered while a soft chuckle fell from her lips. "Now we can watch our movie in peace." I immediately smiled when she returned her gaze to the television, focusing on her hate for John Tucker.
We tried to keep our laughter at a minimal so we wouldn't wake up the beast adorably sleeping with his head in my lap but it was impossible to keep quite all the time, luckily Lukas was so fast asleep he didn't even notice. The movie was almost done when my phone buzzed next to me on the couch. I grabbed it to see who was bothering me this late. I was curious as to who it was, Mia and Lukas were sitting right here and they we're the only ones who texted or called me.
: Hi, you're probably already asleep, but I was wondering if you were okay? I can't get seeing you so upset out of my head...
I smiled while reading Zach's text. It was nice that he was checking up on me and it really felt like he cared about me. Why else would he ask?
: I'm wide awake and I'm also okay. Thanks for asking, telling you really felt good so don't worry about it. I can trust you right?
I looked back at the tv, waiting for his response but I didn't have to wait long for my phone to buzz again.
: Your secret is safe with me Rudolph. You can trust me. I'm glad it felt right, telling me. If Anything happens... I'm here.
The smile on my face grew wider. It felt good having a friend I could trust and had my back.
: I'm glad I told you but let's assume nothing is going to happen. Otherwise I won't be able to sleep. I need all my energy tomorrow.
: You're fine, we're on the afternoon shift tomorrow. You can sleep in.
: That's what you think, I got an early class in the morning. Ps: you were right, I'm already getting sick of coffee.
Not really but it sounded like something light and fun to change the subject to instead of talking about my parents or my lack of sleep.
: Ready to join me and the energy drink club? We can hide behind the counter together...
: You wish, I was just kidding I'll be a coffee addict for life.
My smile turned into a grin while texting back and forth, one eye on my phone while the other one was on the movie, Mia of course in full focus.
: Too bad... I really thought you were going to be my partner in crime.
: I thought I already was... thanks for kicking me off the team.
