I know Chu Wanwan won't experience torture.

Using her wits and intelligence and with the help of her allies and friends; she would eventually found not guilty. Due to 'not enough' direct evidence that might relate to the female lead as the true perpetrator, Chu Wanwan would be eventually be freed.

When I woke up, I immediately recognized my room. To my horror, I found Li Han by my bedside. I instinctively shrink my shivering self to my silk blanket. When the male lead saw my reactions, his blood-filled pupils constricted; his face was livid; the veins standing out on his neck and his pink lips pressed tightly.

I jolted and quickly lowered my eyes.

God knows since when those dark brooding eyes started studying my sickly face; as though he's thinking whether to kill me by biting my head off or by directly pulling my heart out from my chest.

'So brutal!' I was so frightened, I broke out in a cold sweat.

The male lead remains silent in front of me for god knows how long; I've waited.. and waited for him to say something. However, the suffocating silence persist. I don't dare to sneak a peek either.

I think that's much worse! Waiting for my execution or guessing how would the male lead planning to torture me in the most gruesome as possible are not funny at all.

Li Han closed his book and placed it on the end table and rose lithely from the bed. I sat up and looked at him.

"Someone, come!"

The door opened. One of the prince's guards came; eyes on the ground, he clasped his hands and knelt on one knee, paying his respect to the fourth prince.

"Bring the maid."

"Yes."

The guard left but when he returned, he was dragging one battered person in a servant clothing. I inhaled sharply.

"Jin'er!"

I wanted to move and check on Jin'er however the heated stare of Li Han reminded me not to make things worse.

I worriedly stayed still. My eyes shifted from Jin'er to him and to Jin'er again. My palms were sweaty.

"W-what did you do, Y-Your Highness?"

"All of your servants and guards already received their punishments."

"P-punishments?"

"They weren't careful and didn't protect their master from any harm. I suggested to cut their tongues."

"What did you say?!" My voice came strong. Eyes red.

"I warned you not to provoke this prince, didn't I?"

'Tongues?'

My eyes settled to the red cloth clamping at Jin'er's mouth. With my hands over my mouth, I gasped in horror. Just like in the plot. In the end, the male lead had still cut Jin'er's tongue. The idea was nauseating!

I don't want to believe what I'm seeing right now. I never wanted this to happen. This can't be.

'Jin'er! No. Please no.' I closed my eyes, tears rolled down.

'Now it's not just Jin'er.. even the others?' My scalp tingled and gradually went numb.

"Hmnn. I plan to severe their feet and have all the female servants to be send to Red District. Oh, I think the grand palace are lacking eunuchs as well, sending those male servants of yours and useless guards in there is not a bad idea at all?"
