Sheila

We stepped up the polished marble steps. I had to walk up multiple at a time, trying to keep myself moving without slipping back down. I looked at the large golden gate that arched into the palace. I wondered how I was going to fit inside. I turned my head towards my mate, he didn't seem worried at all, he just kept looking straight.
"Don't bow. Greet when greeted that is your role, to express your dominance. Feel free to input your opinion on any matter, I will back you." Dominance? Really? I would assume he would be doing the same thing.
I nodded my head, my eyes making its was back to focus on the golden gate which was sprung wide in waiting for us.
When we reached the beautiful gate, I could peer into the castle. Everything seemed opened, the hall was just in front of us, men, elves, dwarves, other creatures entirely were all seated at the oval quartz table only a few yards away from us.
"Xion, we have arrived." My mate stepped through the gates and I followed after him, glued to his side. I assumed Xion was someone of importance.
"We?" A man with shimmering long blonde hair stood from his spot at the head of the table. He had bright green eyes, which were able to be seen miles away. A beautiful crown made with antlers spiraled to the sky, symboling grace and power.
"Meet my Mate, Sheila." I starred down the elf, I could only assume that he was the king. I couldn't bow, which I really want to do just on instincts.
"Sheila," Xion tried my name on his tongue. A joyful smile spread wide across his face, "What a beautiful name. I'm Xion Berklearf the king of Leaflumber, it's great to make your acquaintance, for all my years of life I've known Zaivinth, I'm glad to see you walk into his life now." He rested a hand on his left peck and bowed deeply towards me.
Every elf at that table stood, pushing back their chairs and bowed deeply, following after their king.
"It is very nice to meet you too, Xion." I said with surprising calmness even though stress was eating a hole into me. I gave him a quite smile, then I looked to my mate who was looking down at me with something like awe in his eyes.

My shadow flames swirled around me, dancing in the air. "It's good to see you here, I didn't think you would make it." Xion shifted on his feet and tilted his head up to talk to the white overgrown lizard to my side.
"I wasn't too interested in things like this..." he looked over to me. "Until now." I rolled my eyes, he was just too sappy.
"Now that everyone is here." He clapped his hands, turning his back to us, walking back to his golden chair which was at the head on the other side of the table.
I felt Vince nudge me with his nose, then walked to the side of the room. It was his gesture for me to follow him. I did without question. He was helping me out, this was my first time in contact with so many people! I was super nervous, to the point I was glad that shadow 'flames' covered my body so they didn't see me shake in fear.
Zaivinth starred at the table intensely paying attention to every word that came out of the elf kings mouth while I zoned out.
Zaivinth And Xion have known each other for so long it seems. I heard elves live for a very long time, I wonder how long that time really is. Xion looked like he was mid thirty's at most, does that mean he is 30,000 years old? No, that couldn't be, he wouldn't be a one year old child for 1,000 years.
I'll just ask Vince later. I started to put my mind into the conversation being said, "—our land. We need to gather our armies together if we will have even the slightest chance of survival."
Oh my, what in the world did I miss? I straighten up my spine, I looked over to Vince who was still too focus on the conversation at hand. If he was going to fight in this war, I would go with him.
"Like we would willingly side with elves," scoffed a dwarf with huge iron shoulder plates that had a red symbol painted on it, a golden sliver lined the outside of the armor. Strapped to the dwarfs back was a grey shield that I couldn't get a real good look at, though what I did see was a sword poking out just enough for him to grab the handle and unsheathe the blade.

Dwarves were the gods of iron works, or so stories have said. By looking at all the armor that decorated the dwarf body, I could assume those stories were true.
"We don't have time for this Dweren," a centaur spoke up. I almost gasped out loud when I saw the centaur speek. I didn't think those creatures existed! He wasn't sitting in the chairs that was supplied, he stood where I chair should be. His body was grey, his beard matching his body hairs. He had two horn on the side of his head, just above his ears, that stuck straight out past his eyes. He had a golden crown of twigs that were mended together perched atop his head.
The horns had a slab of metal at the edge of it, no doubt making it a lot more dangerous than before. One ram with from that centaur in the wrong place you would end up being a kebab.
"That's King Dwaren to you, Calf." Wait, isn't a calf a cow?
"What did you just call me?" The centaur kicked his hooves up onto the table making it shake.
"A calf, you bloody tree hugger." The Dwarven king drew his sword and the stories were correct on the dwarves iron work. The beautiful blade snaked away from the hilt, carvings of what seemed like stories were engraved into the blade.
I heard my mate growl with distaste, his grey smoke covering the floor. "Calm down." He growled again taking a menacing step forward. On instinct, I lowered my head slightly, letting out a reinforcing growl, my shadows shot to the sky as I locked my knees, ready for an attack.
I swear I saw fear flash in the Dwarven king eyes. Probably because we were much bigger, and deadlier than him. "I'm not going to sit here at take this," King Dweren kicked back his chair and stormed out of the meeting hall.
Silence filled the halls for a few moments after the little dwarf was long gone.
"We will continues this when he has calmed down." Xion waved his hands. Everyone rose, the elves bowed with respect, and the other just left. My mate made no movement to leave so I didn't either.
Soon the only people left were Xion, Zaivinth, and myself. "Well that went—" Xion was cut off.
"Horrible." Vince grumbled.
"—As expected." Xion chuckled, "I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner." His eyes skipped between Vince and my own.
"Is this a normal occurrence?" I asked, my voice filled interest.
Vince nodded his head. "Yes," Xion conferred, "I'm glad that Zaivinth decided to show up this meeting. The timing couldn't have been better. Anyways, Dweren seems to have a soft spot for him." He waved a hand to Vince.
"More like deathly fear of me." Vince sighed as he shifted into his human form. Trust. He trusts this man. Following suit, I shifted as well.
I watched as Xion held out a hand for my mate to shake. Instantly Vince grabbed his hand pulling on it slightly falling into a hug. "Congratulations Brother." My werewolf hearing picked up what Xion had said. I could feel myself sit up straighter, I tried to see the similarities between the two, but I just couldn't seem to see the resemblance.
"So you two are siblings?" And in the way they whipped their heads in my direction with that look of confusion painted on their face.
I knew I was way off target.

Shadow in the North
What if a work of fiction wasn't fiction at all? What if we only thought it was fiction because it was written down, and we were separated from it by the page? Isabel Darrow, troubled by her past and feeling disconnected from the world, likes her doctor's suggestion that the world of fiction might become reality. She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago.But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?
