《Enemy's Woman》Chapter 57 - Brewing trouble

Poonam blushed under Devburman's gaze. After Chitra had left her with him. He walked around with her buying whatever took his fancy. She was still intimidated by him.
"Why are you so quiet Poonam?" He asked.
"Nothing" she replied.
"You can say it, I won't bite you." He smirked.
"Your highness it's just that I was missing my parents." She said.
"You want to meet them?"
She nodded.
"l also have a request. If you don't mind I want to get married to Navsarika. My parent's home. I know the princess wants to have a grand wedding here, but I had always dreamed of a small wedding and getting farewell from my home."
"Is that all?"
She nodded.
"Consider it granted. Our wedding date has been fixed for next month. You can stay in Navsarika until then. I will arrange for your travel."
Her face cheered up.
"Thank you, your highness."
"There is just one problem."
She looked concerned.
"I'll miss you." He said simply.
She looked down " I will miss you too your highness."

Vikram returned the next day. The negotiations had gone well. Kamakshi and Vikram's wedding date was to be announced once the chief priest analyzed the stars and their birth charts.
So it was fixed that Chitrangada and Poonam would visit Navsarika and stay there until the wedding of Devburman and Poonam. As it was Chitra's first visit after her wedding an escort party which was technically a mini-army arrived from Navsarika.
"I wish I could go with you." Shiv sulked as Chitra looked through an array of items that had to be packed.
"You are most welcome to come along dear husband." She grinned.
"I want to but the northern provinces are in a mess!"
"Why? It was all resolved isn't it?"
"Yes but there are local political issues, we need to appoint new governors. Cleaning up the mess."
"So you would be travelling again?"
"Most probably yes, this time along with Dev bhaiya."
She played with her rings then said.
"You know the northern provinces are very near to Navsarika."
His eyes got a naughty glint and his lips curled into a smile.
"What are you trying to imply wife?"
"You can visit." She winked at him.
He grabbed her waist bringing her close. Their bodies touching.
"Or maybe kidnap you and carry you off to that hunting lodge."
"Why would you need to abduct me? I am your wife."
"Just for the fun." He laughed.
"I wanted to do so many things, which I couldn't."
She was blushing crimson now but there was also a tinge of sadness. She would not be seeing him for more than a month.
"Shiv I will miss you."
"I will miss you too dear. Please take very good care of yourself." He replied hugging her.

The journey from Badami to Navsarika was of 2 days. With a battalion of guards and servants from both places accompanying them, Chitra and Poonam, both had a comfortable journey.
There was unusual satisfaction of homecoming when Chitra saw the city gates of Navsarika. It had been ages! Though her palace and kingdom were much smaller than Shivaditaya's. It was her home.
Raja Kiritveer looked eagerly for the arrival of his daughter. He had to make sure that she was happy. He tapped his finger impatiently on the armrest of his throne.
"Your Majesty! Maharaj Vikram has increased the taxes again." His advisor Maansing said.
"What? It's barely a month since the last increment. How can he do that?"

Maansing's brows furrowed in worry.
"Your Majesty ever since Maharaj Vallabhdev has died Maharaj Vikram has reduced the enforcement for the border which makes us vulnerable to attacks from the warrior tribes furthermore he seems a bit hostile."
"What do you mean Mansingh?"
"As a Vassal state we pledge diligence to the empires in return they provide us protection, army, and trade support. Earlier our requests used to get granted fast but now I barely get any response from Patan."
"Perhaps it's because he is still learning and new to all this. We should be patient Mansingh."
Kirtiveer said.
"As you command your majesty," Maansing replied.
"Let's get ready to welcome Chitrangada." Kirtiveer smiled.
Mansingh has another thought which he has not yet proposed to Kirtiveer. Change allegiance to Chalukyas instead of Gurjar- Pratihar but he needed time for that.
Kalavati hugged Chitra. She was so overwhelmed that she burst into tears.
After the traditional welcome Chitra was ushered into her room by her mother.
Kalavati asked "How are you dear? Damadji keeps you happy? I have been so much worried about you? His family accepted you?"
Chitra said "mother! one thing at a time. Look at me dont I look happy?"
She beamed at Kalavati.
Kalavati said "You are glowing. Are you? Is there good news? Oh no! why did you travel in such condition..."
Chitra blushed and looked horrified. Don't know why everyone was obsessed with her pregnancy.
"No! I am not expecting! At least not yet."
"How do you know? You dont know anything. I will call the midwife today. She can check and confirm..."
"Mother stop! I am not pregnant, and please cool down. I have come all the way to meet you and all you care about is my pregnancy."
Kalavati calmed down and said, " Ok so tell me how are things?"
"I am very happy with his highness. His family is also very nice. Our marriage happened in unusual situations but Shiv loves me a lot and he takes care of my every need." She smiled after saying this.
Kalavati sighed with relief "But why did you refuse getting married to him? I thought I had to compromise my daughter's happiness for our honour."
Chitra looked guilty her parents were still unaware of feelings for Shiv since before their wedding.
She explained everything to her mother in brief leaving aside certain details.
"All this while I thought you loved Vikram and were unhappily married in the Chalukya Empire."
"Didnt you get my letters? I never said that I was unhappy."
"Yeah but now that I heard it from you I am relieved."
Chitra was relieved, at least her mother had stopped hammering her regarding her pregnancy!
Poonam had gone to stay with her parents at her home. Now all Chitra had to do was wait for the wedding.

Patan -
"Princess Chitra has arrived in Navsarika, Your Majesty." The spy informed his master.
"Good " replied Vikram while twirling the wine glass in his hand.
"Prince Shivaditya has left Badami as well. He is moving towards the northern provinces." The second spy informed.
"This is unexpected. It may complicate things." Vikram said.
"Yes, but we have the advantage of timing. By the time they realize our plans. Navsarika would have already been captured." His general informed.
"It will lead to war, your majesty."Spy 2 said.
" War is inevitable. The question is how much humiliation can I cause to Shivaditya." Vikram smirked and emptied his wine glass in one go.

Lethal Combo (Weapon-Based Martial Arts Adventure)
Quang is a slacker that doesn't have much going for him except for his skills in Chinese kickboxing and his proficiency with a pair of nunchucks. Selene is broke but still manages to overestimate herself. The fact that she's knows Hapkido and how to handle a set of tonfas doesn't help either. Together, they're going to get into a lot of trouble. Just like everyone else in the sweltering West Coast city of Isla Lucrecia, Quang Nghiem is struggling to get by. His family’s business can’t make ends meet, his childhood friend has vanished without a trace and the self-imposed local “Union” threatens to tear down the family restaurant if they can’t pay their dues. Fortunately for him, part-time lifeguard and fellow out-of-practice martial artist Selene Olwagen has nothing better to do and is more than willing to help Quang track down his missing friend. However, there’s more lurking in the shadows of Isla Lucrecia than typical street gangs and criminals. Almost every chapter will have illustrations to accompany it. Heavily inspired by fighting games and classic martial arts films. Expect that kind of tone of going in. Updates twice a week, (mostly) on Wednesday and Saturday. Illustrations and covers were done by Ati: www.instagram.com/serious_ati/ Check out more art of Lethal Combo and my other projects here: www.instagram.com/fgc_checkmate/

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)

[OLD] The Magus of Imminent Oblivion
AN: This is a pretty shitty novel, in case you haven't already guessed that by the rating. Check out the newer version that I'm writing, since it has more content written and higher quality (I hope). He was a nameless child born at the end of a great war. He gave himself a name, then worked his way to prosperity. He had a job, a wife, a daughter, and his future looked bright. But, then, things changed. His wife and daughter were dead, and a hundred bodies laid strewn across the floor. He couldn't continue to live; he pierced his body with his own sword. Awakening in a new world, his new body burned with an old fury. Where magic was common and power was cheap, he vowed to never let anything get the better of him.
