Part 10

Angel's Pov 

Kate stopped the car in front of the largest building in New York. My heart started beating so loud that I could hear it in my eardrums. No, I don't think that I could do this. 

"Angel, Angel" my chain of thought was broken by Kate. I looked at her then saw myself in the mirror. 

Today's my interview in the biggest company of Newyork, The Inferno, For the Secretary post. 

Kate's boss said he didn't have any job for me now but he recommended me for this job and booked an appointment for me too, for which I'm really thankful. But now I'm thinking again about this decision. 

"What happened angel?" She asked. 

"Ka-kate, I don't think I should go in there, I mean look at the building, I'm looking like an Ant in front of Elephant. They may have some very high standards, and look at me. I'm looking like a nerd in college. I should have worn my own clothes not yours" I said in one breath. 

She raised an eyebrow on me. "Okay, yes I'm feeling very nervous, working with Alison was easy but here everyone will be strangers and, oh God I'm scared. I don't want to go inside." She sighed and held my hands. 

"Okay temme, are all your fingers the same size ?" She asked, making me confused. "What?" 

"You heard me angel" she said and I rolled my eyes. "Of course not .. 5 different sizes but why-" she cut me off in the middle. 

"That's what I'm saying Angel, you can't expect everyone to be the same, there are many different people in this world and I know how strong you are, I know you can do it. Just remember what I said, be confident and don't let anyone down you. They will try to bow you down but show them you are not born to bow down." She said and it boosts my confidence. 

Yes I can at least try. Thanking her, I stepped out of the car and walked to the building. The black skyscraper looked like a giant stone ready to crush me. 

After showing the appointment letter to security, I walked inside. It was like I entered Tomorrowland, If you remember that movie. Yes it was that modern, everything was designed with black, silver and golden. 

"May I help you miss?" Someone asked me. I turned around to find a receptionist. 

"Hello, actually I'm here for the secretary interview." I showed her my appointment letter. 

She smiled and showed me the lift which would take me to the 29th floor. Wow, so many floors. I entered into lift and pressed 29. 

I exited the lift at 29 floor but the scene made me realise, I'll never get this job. 

There were at least 50 Girls and 20 Boys sitting in the long and wide hall , behind it was a double door with a name Interview room. They have separate floors for interviews. Wow.

I sighed and sat beside a girl around my age, she was reading her cv. Every girl dressed in a pencil skirt with button down shirt, or dress till their thighs.

While I wore black stamp pants and peach color full sleeves top with black flats.

I made my long hair in a tight bun with few tendrils on the side. Few girls raised their eyebrows on my clothes. 

I ignored them and looked into the cv of the girl beside me. she is from Oxford, she actually looked capable for this job. I don't know why I am wasting my time here. Maybe it has to do with Kate scaring me with her shopping. 

I waited for 2 hours until my chance came. I knocked on the door thrice, and after hearing a come in, I entered. 

There were 5 chairs on the other side, and 4 turned to the window while that 5th chair was vacant, strange. 

Without knowing what to do, I sat on the single chair in front of a mahogany table made of mirrors. The offices are also decorated with the same design, and a huge floor down mirror window at the front wall. 

"Good Morning Si-" my voice was stuck in my throat when all the chairs turned to me. There they are, all four best friends of Blaize William. They all are bosses of the Inferno? 

"What? you aren't happy to see us here?" Bryan Gomez asked with a smirk. Not only Bryan but Kyle and Declan also had a sly smirk on their face except Adrian, who rolled his eyes on them. 

Why am I always stuck in such conditions, now I'm 1000% sure that I wouldn't get any job here. My thoughts were again cut off by another familiar voice entering the room. 

"Sorry guys, I'm late. I had to see father, so how's the interview going-" Blaize stopped saying when looked at me. 

He looked shocked at first but then his face turned into angered one. "What on earth is she doing here?" He asked his friends and ignored me. 

"Oh, she is one of the interviewee here, and we were just going to start the interview, so you are on time. Come let's start asking questions" Bryan said like he is going to get his favourite candy. 

It's like they had a mental conversation because then blaize silently sat on a vacant chair without looking at me. 

"So, Miss Angelina Hughes.. tell me what do you know about our company?" Kyle asked. 

"What I know is, this is a multinational company dealing in multi products and services like clothing lines, technological products, Hotels, Construction, Exporting services and etc." I said mustering enough confidence, because inside it's feeling like I have been sitting on a very hot seat. 

"Not bad, and why do you want to work in our company?" Declan asked. 

"Because I'm not very fond of the idea of starving to death on the street" I said the same line that Kate taught me in case this question arises. 

But now, I regret it by looking at their amused faces, except blaize. 

"Okay, let's move to your education. You completed your high school in the university of Paris, but then why did you take a community college degree?" This time Adrian asked. 

Beads of sweat occurred on my hands and head because of his question. "Uhm, actually, it's... I mean there were some family issues" I answered and carefully wiped the sweat off my head. 

"Interesting" Bryan commented. "And why did you move from Paris to Newyork, you could have many job opportunities there," Bryan asked in a professional voice.

Why do I feel like they are trying to dig in my past. I took a deep breath and with a shaky voice answered him. 

"It's.... Uhm. .I.. I told you that there were some family issues" I said ignoring their gaze. I really want to go out from here, I know that they wouldn't give me this job so why these questions. 

"Okay last question, do you think of yourself as a loyal or truthful person? Because we only need people here who are worthy to keep loyalty and truthfulness" Blaize asked, there was an accusing tone in his voice. I frowned at his question. 

I really wanted to say that you were the one who wasn't able to keep his promise, and called me disloyal. He didn't even return to see if I was alive or not. 

Stop it angel, you can't think like that, remember the person you loved didn't exist in this world, it was all the facade. 

But why? Why did he do that?

The voice of throat clearing took me out of my dreamland. "I..I don't know " I answered the only answer I could think of. 

"Good, now there is the door so you can leave" He said rudely. 

Gladly, I nodded and left from there as soon as possible. 

......

Kate was smiling when I told her everything. "I'm so proud on you angel, at least you didn't let them cower you" 

"Yeah but I actually paled when they asked about the past. But I don't understand that one company has 5 bosses, it must be a partnership firm." I said to which Kate looked at me like I grew two heads. 

"Are you kidding? The company name itself tells you that Angel, the Inferno...it means the 5 mega billionaires who rule the business world. It's their private organisation which they run together other than their family business. Yes I didn't know the name of all of them except Adrian, Declan because they are investors in our company and they take their privacy very seriously."

"What? Then why didn't you tell me, I mean I know that they are blaize's friends but I didn't knew that they 5 together are the Inferno, I didn't even knew about this company before." 

"In which world are you living? Planet dreamtopia? Seriously Angel you worked as a secretary in a company for 4 years and you don't even know who the ruler of the business world is?" She asked over dramatically, which made me roll my eyes. 

"Okay fine, it's not like they would appoint me anyway, tomorrow I'll go to Alison's diner then ask her for any good company who doesn't have any link with Williams or those friends." I huffed and walked to my room because I'm really tired after today's incident. 

I just hope that I won't cross my path with them, because if it happens in any way then it will be a disaster for my peaceful life.
