《Ravenwolf's Rose》Courage To Love

I didn't hesitate to go and see if Luca was alright.
I called 911 immediately on my phone while I tried opening the doors but they were locked... the windows were also so darkly tinted so I couldn't see inside.
An ambulance arrived with a firefighting crew so eventually I was pushed aside. I watched in horror as the door was opened by force.
I put my phone away in my bag as soon as I saw a hand drop out from the car. I shivered in place and then I closed my eyes briefly before I saw them put a neck brace on Luca. He had been sitting in the front seat next to his driver and was now unconscious.
I tried stepping forward but a police officer stopped me.
"I... I know him..." she looked at me and then the scene a few times. She let me go to Luca's side when he was in the ambulance. When I went inside I dropped my bag. I tried to reach back down for it but it was too late because the doors had closed. Luca had a few bruises appearing on his chest. Luckily they were only from his seat belt...
"Is he going to be alright?" they all got to work accessing his condition and I sat back. When I tried to grab my bag for my phone I realized it was gone... I would just call the company when I got to the hospital...
While I waited for any news about Luca, I tried calling Ravenwolf Co. at the front desk a few times but I couldn't get through. When I did the secretary told me that Kai and Nathan had left and I wondered where they went... I told her to let them know I had to take a small detour and that I lost my bag. She agreed to pass on the message.
One of the Doctor's came to greet me and told me that Luca and the driver would be fine. He was given a room to recover in. They would do some x-ray's and an MRI as precautions. But he separated his shoulder, had some superficial bruising, and a gash on his jawline... I cringed... I could only imagine how much he was going to freak out when he woke up and saw that his face was hurt.

"Can I see him?" The Doctor nodded.
"But we need you to complete some paperwork first."
"Oh, but I'm not next of kin..."
"Well, someone needs to fill it out..."
I nodded while looking over my shoulder a little...
*
When Nathan told me he was speaking to a police officer at the scene of an accident my entire mind went blank.
"Whose phone are they calling from..." I asked and Nathan told me it was Hazel's. I gripped the edge of my desk anxiously and then started running forward.
"Hold on, Kai! I haven't heard anything other than-- wait! Which hospital is she at?" Nathan then followed after me since I was racing towards the elevator. I kept pressing the buttons but of course I knew it wouldn't make the elevator come any sooner.
"It's alright..." Nathan touched the top of my shoulder and I closed my eyes...
Not again...
Not another accident...
Hazel...
Are you hurt?
What was I going to do without you?
I kicked the elevator door and it opened. I pressed the ground floor button and we were only about half way down when it stopped and a few people came on. The elevator kept halting to a stop so the next chance I got I flew out of the elevator so that I could use the stairs instead. Nathan followed after me...
My head was in the clouds so I could barely focus on anything else other than getting to Hazel's side as soon as possible.
Don't leave me...
When we got to the parking garage Nathan drove out of the building as fast as he could. I couldn't help but feel a heat rise up into my chest.
I balled my fists in and out several times... I should have been there with her...
When we arrived I left Nathan and raced inside.
I asked for her name but they didn't have a patient under that name. I slammed my hands on the table and regretted frightening most of the nurses. I stepped back and Nathan was close behind me.

"It's going to be alright..." Nathan patted my back gently and then walked over to the station to apologize and inquire some more... I started pacing.
Eventually Nathan told me to follow him and we were both running towards a room in the hospital. I could hear some groans and shouts in the distance and I started to panic.
I picked up my speed again and then opened the door.
I saw Luca being treated on the hospital bed. He had a sling around one of arms and was wincing at some iodine touching a cut on his face.
"Be careful. My face is worth millions..."
Suddenly a rage unleashed inside of me. It was like seeing red.
"What did you do?!" Luca looked up. He seemed confused by my accusation. I walked over to him but Nathan held me back from behind. Luca moved a little and made a discomforted expression.
"Where is she?! Where is she?!" Luca raised his eyebrows at once and thought for a moment.
"Hazel?"
"You son of a--why you again--"
"What's wrong?" I turned around and I saw Hazel in-between the door. She appeared completely unharmed... she had a few documents in her hands. "I wasn't sure of your date of birth... actually, it's better you fill this out. And Nathan... what are you two doing here?"
Nathan's arms dropped and I turned around to face her...
My heart started to ache...
I promised myself I would bury the feelings I was having for her back in The Bahamas because I didn't want our relationship to change. I was happier having her in my life like this... not knowing about whether or not I would be able to see her again if it all fell apart.
But this time... I didn't hesitate to walk over to her.
Even if she didn't feel the same way about me...
Even if I didn't know what would happen in the future...
I could no longer deny.
I was in love with her.
I love Hazel Rose...
I walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders... she stiffened a little at first and then dropped her shoulders a little... accepting my embrace. She pat my back slightly and I let out a few sighs of relief. I couldn't find a reason to let go of her anymore...
"Kai..." she said... and when I realized what I had done and where we were I slowly stepped away from her. She looked up at me with a pained expression. Like she understood how I must have felt hearing about the accident... and she just touched the side of my face briefly... it was shocking, but incredibly warm...
When Nathan cleared his throat I stepped away from her. Luca, Nathan and the Nurse were looking over a little stunned. I then walked back towards Luca.
"Idiot..." I whispered to Luca and he scoffed.
"I'm the one who got hurt here so why do I have to take this nonsense from you?" I wanted to lean in and grab him but Nathan pushed me back.
"I'll contact Natalie..." Nathan said. "Hazel... we should go. You can explain everything to us."
"Yes... please rest well, Luca..." I walked towards Hazel and then passed her. She followed us shortly after and explained the situation... I couldn't believe it.
Having misunderstood it so quickly... I was embarrassed by my impetuousness...
When I looked over at her during our car ride back to the company... I realized that this was more than just a mistake.
Whenever it concerned Hazel I let everything go to my head.
If her safety wasn't guaranteed or if something happened to her... it wasn't a 'normal' worry anyone would have...
It was because I treasured her... because I wanted to stay by her side...
I realized that these were feelings I couldn't continue pushing aside for much longer...

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
