Kai stared at me blankly before looking over my shoulder.

At that point I was sure he saw a half-naked Luca trying to put his shirt on.

I didn't know how why... but my senses were on fire... I didn't have a reason to be embarrassed, but it felt a little weird having him see me in this kind of situation.

We weren't dating... but it still felt a little odd.

When Kai stepped in and walked past me I panicked a little. I didn't want them to fight again so I turned around and grabbed Kai's wrist. He turned around and stopped moving towards Luca instantly.

"I was just helping him today. I volunteered to come over. He's still not well..." I looked over at Luca who was shocked that Kai had arrived.

"I'll be back!" I shouted towards Luca and then pulled Kai back. He didn't seem willing at first, but relented a little when we got outside and I shut the door.

"Why are you here?" he asked while crossing his arms. I could tell he was upset.

"I already explained it to you... I just came over to help Luca with a few things."

"Why was he was half naked in there? What could you have possibly helped him out with that no one else could have? Are you his assistant?"

"He's been by himself for the last few days. I just wanted to--" I watched Kai scoff a little and look off to the side in agitation and that threw me off.

Why was he making a big deal like this?

"I can make my own choices, Kai."

"I'm not... that's not what I'm trying to say."

"It's unfair of you to come at me like that when I haven't or Luca hasn't done anything wrong," that seemed to set him off.

"Why are you still talking about him? He's trouble. I told you he's someone you can't trust and you came all the way over here not knowing what he could have done."

"Why are you being like this?! I can't change the fact that you hate Luca, but you don't have to hold onto this resentment like this!" I immediately regretted what I said. I turned away, biting my lower lip. I held onto my head and exhaled.

Why was this happening between us? I didn't want this.

"Fine... go and spend time with him."

When he left I placed my hands on my hips and kicked Luca's door...

He didn't even tell me what he came here for.

Why did he get upset like that? I sighed again... thinking about how tense things would be for a while...

When I walked back inside I saw Luca who had put his shirt on halfway. I walked over to finish helping him.

"Sorry... I probably made things worse."

"It's not your fault... I'll come again if you need any help, alright?" he nodded towards my way.

"Hazel..." I looked up at him again and this time his expression had changed.

"Yes...?"

"What if I told you I liked you?" I looked up at him a little stunned. I didn't know if I could take him seriously after all this time, but instead on evading him I decided to face it head on.

"Do you?" I said and he smiled.

"I do, I like you... but it seems like... you already have your heart set on someone else..." I watched the grin I was used to seeing on his face slowly fade away.

"Just forget what I said..." he spoke solemnly while looking away.

"I'm sorry... it's like you said. I do like someone else..." I then gently stepped back and he looked up at me again. "But that guy... probably won't ever know..." I sighed and then smiled at him again. "Take care..." I didn't know what else I could say without being insensitive to Luca's feelings... but it was just that.

I wasn't in love with Luca...

The person I was in love with... didn't have the slightest idea and just moments ago he stormed out of here...

When I finally reached the elevator I fought a few tears from falling...

Despite everything I still loved him...

But as of right now I was really at a loss.

What was I going to do?

The longer he didn't know about my feelings the more it hurt to be around him...

Later that day I went to the art studio briefly to pick up a few things. Shortly after, I headed back to Ravenwolf. In the morning, I woke up to discover that my Boss had cancelled classes for the day because of the weather. I thought it would be a good time to finish some of the commissioned pieces I had. But just when I thought I could get to work, I heard a knock on my door.

When I opened my door, Nathan was there.

"Good morning..."

"Morning..." I wondered why he was here. Couldn't he have messaged me like he usually did? "Are you here to pick up Kai?" I asked.

"Oh, yes... but I wanted to check in on you too..." his tone seemed a little suspicious... what was he doing here?

"Uh huh..." I said while looking over his shoulder at Kai's room. Nathan cleared his throat.

"How is Luca doing?" I was surprised he asked me.

"His arm is better."

"That's good..." I watched Nathan stare at his phone for a moment. "Did your class get cancelled today by chance?"

"Yes, why?"

"Do you think you could make it to the office?"

"Oh... sure?" when I realized Kai would be there I wanted to take back my response, but I knew that would only stir Nathan's suspicions.

"I'll accompany you in the next few hours. Kai will go ahead of us so I'll work in Henry's study until then..."

So he was home...

I sighed and then shut my door... obviously he wants to talk to me about what happened considering how we left things off... but I didn't dare know where to start.

I decided to forget about it until we talked about it... and spent some time painting before Nathan and I left for the office.

When we got there Kai was working at his desk. Nathan quickly excused himself. I had turned around with my arms in the air hoping to hold onto him but he left so suddenly...

I slowly slid over to one of the seats and brought out my sketch book.

After some time we both looked up here and there from our spots... neither of us speaking.

After an hour had passed I had grown impatient so I decided to speak up first.

"Why did you act that way when you saw me at Luca's apartment?" he stopped writing and slowly put his pen down. It seemed like I stepped on a landmine.

Being this blunt sometimes was a serious fault of mine...

"I don't like seeing you with him."

If a simple statement like that could throw anyone's world into chaos it would be mine... I wanted to pretend for a moment that he said that because he liked me... even if it was wishful thinking.

Before he elaborated the phone rang and he answered it.

After a short conversation he stood up and started buttoning up his jacket.

"Kai..." I said and he looked back at me sincerely.

"I have come to trust you a lot, Hazel. I know that it was unfair of me to... you didn't deserve it. I just... can't stand seeing Luca. He's someone I never wanted to see again in this lifetime..." I nodded and then stood up.

"So... seeing me with him felt like I was betraying your trust?"

"I'm sorry. I also can't forgive him for how he's been treating you so flippantly. He's just..." I bit my lip again and then sighed.

"Kai, can you promise me something?" he looked at me...

"I know I'm not perfect. But if you just needed to talk to me about him I would understand better. I know how much you don't like him, but what I did... it was because I wanted to help. Nothing more."

There was some silence between us and he nodded gently.

"I'm sorry again for the way I acted... are you alright?" Kai asked.

"Yes..." Kai cleared his throat and then walked past me.

"I have to meet with the marketing team."

"Alright..."

"Nathan has a ride prepared for you."

"Huh?" that's all I was here for? I looked at him opening the door. He stopped briefly and then said...

"I'll see you later..."

I sighed to myself again... at least now we had talked about it...

After Nathan greeted me he told me the car was waiting downstairs. When I got inside I asked Walt if we could take a detour to a cafe. While I was there I ordered myself a latte and got Walt a hot coffee...

When I was exiting the shop, I saw Luca again...
