After a few minutes, Amy is shifted from the emergency room to the critical care unit. I caught a glimpse of her when they wheeled her in. She looked pale and almost lifeless. It wrecked me to see her like that. I want someone to punch me so I can feel the pain she felt. I pace the waiting room not knowing what to do with myself.

Soon officers come in to question us. James explains to them how he found Amy. The officers informed us that we need to go back to the island and look at the crime scene before the evidence are contaminated. James is adamant that he won't leave Amy's side. So I go with them making myself useful. When we reach the mansion we see that the party is still on but there are only a few guests in the banquet. The cops first question Mr Lockhart. Mr Lockhart tells them everything he knows. He didn't inform anyone about Amy since he didn't want to cause chaos. He also assured the officers that no one left the island other than Dr Fraser, James, Amy and me.

The officers have also brought in a forensic team who collected samples from the bathroom. Then they asked to see the CCTV footage. The cam video starts from Amy and I fighting near the entrance of the mansion. After I leave, Amy walks up to the stairs slowly looking absolutely devastated. Only then I realize that Amy didn't know the truth about her mother. She really thought that woman was her mother not her aunt. That's another punch to my gut. I relived something that probably shattered her and left her to deal with it on her own. I also divorced her for something she didn't even know. No wonder she felt abandoned. Was all the evidence I saw forged too? Right now, I am not sure who exactly is lying to me. F***, this is worse than I thought. If my suspicions are true, someone from my family conspired against me. Someone I trusted with everything lied to me and betrayed me. I divorced my wife and suffered the last three years because I trusted them. Now I might even lose her forever.

My breath gets stuck in my throat as I continue to watch the footage. As Amy stand in front of the door to our room, Sandro comes behind her. He starts touching her and Amy struggles to escape from him. She is tiny compared to him. He then drags her to the theatre room next door. We skip forward and about half an hour later, he comes out of the room adjusting his clothes. We again skip forward a couple of minutes and see Amy walking out of the theatre room and entering our room looking like a Zombie. Her dress is torn, hair a mess and makeup ruined. She looks battered and bruised. A rage like no other takes over me.

I dash out of the security room towards the banquet. As soon as I spot that son of a b***h, I punch him and break his nose. He falls down on the floor crying in pain. I continue to punch and kick him with every bit of strength in my body. I want to kill him with my bare hands for what he did to Amy. It takes ten people to hold me back. Even then I get free and kick him a couple of more times. The officers finally drag me from there and handcuff me. I don't care if I went to prison, I want to hurt that bastard. One of the officers leads me to the mansion while the other arrest Sandro.

After a couple of hours, the officers and forensic team leave the mansion collecting all the evidence and taking Sandro into their custody. All the chaos woke Pops and he is been with me since then. I pace the living room like a caged animal. There is so much anger in me that I might blow up any minute now. Elsa is the first to confront me.

"What the hell are you doing Ethan? You put my husband in jail", she screams.

I take a deep breath and tell myself Elsa did nothing wrong. She would be as devastated as me when she knows the truth.

"Sandro raped Amy earlier tonight. And Amy is in the critical care unit struggling for her life because she tried to commit suicide", I say quietly. There is collective gasp from everyone around me. All the guest were told to stay at the banquet so the forensic team can collect evidence. No one was informed of what was happening and this is the first time they are hearing it.

"It's one of her dramas. You can't believe this Ethan. Sandro will never do something like that"

"I saw the CCTV footage myself. He dragged her to the theatre room and raped her", I say telling myself that Elsa is behaving so coldly toward Amy because she is in shock.

"How do you know it's rape? There are no cameras in the theatre room. Maybe she is into kinky shit. Maybe she asked him for it."

"What", I ask in disbelief. I never thought Elsa would say such things about Amy.

" She tried to seduce my husband before. That woman will do anything for money.", Elsa says. I am not the kind of man who hits a woman. But right now I want to slap my sister for saying such horrible things about Amy. Before I did some thing I will regret, Pop speaks up.

"Elsa, Amy is a good woman. When she is struggling for her life we should be praying for her instead of begrading her".

That shuts up Elsa but Greg jumps in to support her.

"There is nothing wrong in what Elsa said. Amy will do anything for money. Sandro was ready to pay her a million dollars. Maybe she took that money and slept with him of her own free will"

Pops had to physically stop me from going over and punching him.

"Greg, stop it.", Pops says sternly.

" I don't understand how she bewitched Ethan. He is like a lost puppy around her".

As Greg continues to mouth off Amy, I remember he was the one to give me all the proofs about her aunt. I decide I need to know all the truth today.

"Greg, the documents you showed me about Amy's mother. Did you have anything to do with it?"

The sudden question catches him off-guard and he looks nervous. Seeing his reaction, I immediately know he had something to do with it.

"What are you talking about?", he stammers.

" I am going to investigate it. So if you have a hand in it, this is a good time to come out clean", I threaten him.

"Is it true?", Pops adds

He looks around the room uncomfortable and says,

" She was not good for you Ethan. You wouldn't listen to what any of us said. We had to do something", he admits proving my suspicions.

"Asshole, we signed a prenup to satisfy all of you. Was that not enough?", I shout in anger.

He remains quiet.

"Who else is involved in this? tell me now. I need to know.", I ask looking around at all the people who I called family. Elsa was the one to talk next.

" She had her eyes set on my husband. I had to do something".

I take a deep breath, pulling myself together. There are more. I can feel it. I look around and my father speaks next,

"You spent too much time with her. She was distracting you. To run a million dollars company, you need to be 100% dedicated", he says as if he did me some favour. The next person was someone I least expected.

" Veronica is a better match to you Ethan", my mom said softly. There was regret in her voice but does it matter. Everyone except my sister Genna destroyed the one thing I cherished so much in my life. They all selfishly decided to dictate my life and did things not caring if it hurt me or not. I can never forgive them for this. I don't even have the strength to confront them. I turn around and walk out to the beach and for the first time in my adult life, I cried.

I understand how Amy must have felt when she knew about her mother. She must have felt what I feel now like thrown in a bottomless pit. It feels horrible to know that the people you trusted with your life, took advance of your trust and fooled you. No wonder Amy decided its better to end her life. I feel like my heart is ripped out and stomped on.

I feel a hand on my shoulder and see Genna sitting next to me.

"I am so sorry Ethan. I didn't know they could do this to you"

"If you were there, Would you have joined them as well?", I ask offending her.

"I know right now everyone seems like your enemy but I would never do something to hurt you or Amy. I really like Amy. You are so good for each other", she says and I can't help but laugh ruefully.

" If I was good for her, she wouldn't be in the hospital dying"

"Don't lose hope. She will be alright. you will get her back in no time."

"I don't want her back. I just want her alive. She deserves someone better than me. Someone who doesn't kick her out the first chance he got. Someone who took care of her. Someone without crazy family. Someone who truly loved her".

"You are sitting here beating yourself up cause you love her"

"I thought I loved her but now I doubt it. All these years, I never looked back Genna. I didn't check if she is alive or dead. She was raped three weeks ago. I didn't know that. I didn't care enough to make sure she was safe. I didn't care enough to let her know that her so-called mother is her aunt. I even offered her to pay to sleep with me. What kind of man that makes me?"

"Ethan I understand you did a lot of mistakes but right now Amy needs you. She will need you when she wakes up. There is going to be a legal battle. Sandro will fight his case in court. He will call her all the names in the world and try to disgrace her. You need to be there for her. You need to be her strength and not let that bastard get away with this. Elsa is blinded by her perfect life. I have tried to make her see what kind of person Sandro is. But she won't. So you need to stay strong and fight for both of them."

Genna's words stop me from my pity party and make me understand the gravity of the situation. Sandro is one of the richest men in the world. He will use all his power and contacts to stay out of prison. He has many prominent men in his pockets. He will use his shady business associates as well. I have to pull myself together and fight this war. From the looks of it, I have to fight my family as well. I can wallow in self-pity later. Right now, I need to protect Amy. I thank Genna for talking some sense into me and rush to the hospital.
