《The baby swap》Chapter 3: I want a baby?

Zoe's POV
I felt a sharp headache as I lifted my head from my pillow. I threw my head back on my pillow unable to get up.
I rubbed my head, slowly opening my eyes. I turned to my side to see Reina soundly sleeping beside me and Abby on my other side.
Abby's boyfriend must have dropped us here at my house last night.
A few memories of past night came back flooding in my brain.
I hadn't drank so much ever since Girald and I broke up.
'Arg' I was doing it again, I thought the alcohol had clense him from my memory.
"Morning," Abby groaned shifting on the bed.
"Morning," I replied in a sleepy voice, rubbing my forehead from the headache.
Abby got of the bed and to the mirror on my dresser for her 'morning face examination'.
Soon after, Reina woke up too. They didn't seem to be as hungover as I was.
"Last night was fun, we should definitely bring Zoe more often," Reina said getting off the bed.
Right now their voices were making my headache worse.
"Totally, maybe we could get more free drinks." Abby said.
"You two should shut up," I said throwing Reina's pillow at Abby.
"Shouldn't you have already be out by now, to open your cafe." Reina said.
I owned a small Cafe down town, we opened six days a week, including Saturdays. Business was blooming, the place was becoming a tourist attraction.
I immediately sat up straight, the sharp pain on my forehead telling me otherwise.
"I completely forgot," I said both my hands on my forehead. I looked at my clock to see that it was already 10 a.m, the cafe opened at 8.
"Relax, I'm sure it will be okay," Abby said.
"I want to extend my business, I can't do that if my current customers aren't satisfied." I said in a panic.
I should have thought everything through last time before agreeing to go to a club with them.
"Relax, it's just one day," Reina said.
"Samuel and the other waiters might still be waiting for me outside," I said in a panic.
Samuel was my soon to be manager. I plan on giving him the position once I open my new cafe, that way it would be easier for me to manage both cafes.
I grabbed my purse on my nightstand and fumbled for my phone.
I dialed Samuel's number in a panic.
"Hi," he answered in his usual enthusiastic tone.
"Hi, I'm so sorry I'm late. I should be there in about thirty minutes to open." I said.
"It's okay, I used the extra key you gave me in case of emergency. Everything is great here, why don't you take today off," he answered.
"Thank you Sammy, you are such a life saver." I said in relief.
I decided to take his suggestion, I was going to take the day off. I deserve it.

"Bye," I said hanging up. I placed my phone on my nightstand.
"You should probably stop calling him Sammy," Reina said.
"Why?" I asked throwing my head back on the pillow.
"Have you seen the way the guy looks at you? He is secretly in love with you. Maybe you are just unintentionally leading him on," Reina continued.
I have seen it too, but it was just admiration. When we first met, he was going through a lot of stuff and no one would give him a job. I gave him a job and a chance to earn a honest living.
"You are just imagining things, why don't we get something to eat," I said dismissive.
I got off the bed. I took an aspirin from my medicine cabinet for my headache. I had to chew it first because I've always had difficulties drinking pills.
After that we all went to the kitchen, Reina and Abby sat around the table while I cooked scrambled eggs and bacon (considering I was the only one of the three of us who could actually cook, Reina still lived with her parents).
I dished the food then sat at the table to have breakfast.
"You guys should see how hot Liam from high school looks now. I bumped into him last week, I didn't even recognize him." Reina said.
"The Liam, as in chubby chops Liam," Abby commented.
My mind couldn't help but drift away to a conversation we had last night.
I was ready to finally take charge of my life instead of waiting around for something that may never happen, I was going to make it happen instead.
"Guys," I said taking a sharp pause, immediately getting their attention. "I want to have a baby," I said.
Reina dropped her fork.
Abby nearly chocked on her food.
"What?" Abby said.
"I want a baby," I repeated, this time with more enthusiasm.
"Oh, you mean like a doll? Or a puppy," Reina said trying to make sense of the situation.
"No, I mean a real baby. One that I have to carry for nine months, that crys, sleeps and does other things that babies do," I said.
"How are you going to get pregnant? Are you just going to find some random guy to knock you up?" Abby said.
"Not exactly, this is the modern world. I have more options now." I said. "Such as a sperm donor." I continued after a long pause.
"Are you really sure you want to have a baby? It's a big responsibility." Reina said.
"I know, but I'm not just going to keep waiting for a prince charming that may never come," I said.
"If you really want this, just know we'll always be there to support you," Reina said.
"Yes, and to talk you out of it." Abby added. "As long as you don't ask me to babysit I'll support you through it."

I chuckled.
I couldn't help but smile. This might just be the only chance I have of becoming a mother. As crazy as it was, I was willing to run with it.
━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━
Soon after, Reina and Abby left. By the afternoon, I had convinced myself that having a baby was what I wanted.
I might as well make it official.
Right now I was on my way to my parents house. I didn't know how they would react to the news. Although we hardly agreed on anything, they were important to me.
My parents lived in the suburbs, my dad owned a law firm. Let's just say, mom still hasn't forgiven me for not taking part of the family business and opening a coffee shop instead.
I drove my car into the yard then parked it amonst my dad's Rangerovers.
Although I grew up rich, my dad taught us that we had to earn something to get it. He also taught us to work hard. It's something my brother couldn't grasp.
To my mother, my brother and I were a mishap.
I exhaled deeply as I got out of my car.
I had no idea how my parents were going to react and I couldn't wait to tell them.
I walked into the house as Lara welcomed me in with her casual warm smile.
"Are my parents in?" I asked.
"Yes, they in the sitting room." Lara answered.
"Thank you," I said to her then walked to the sitting room.
Mom was sitting on the couch while Dad sat on his arm chair.
"Hi sweetheart," mom said as I walked into the room.
"Hi Mom," I said walking over to her.
I kissed her on the cheek and then one to dad.
Mom was watching some reality show about drag queens while Dad seemed to be half asleep in his arm chair.
"What brings you here?" Mom asked.
"I have some news," I said taking a seat.
Knowing my parents, I'd have to calm them down first, start of with a happy conversation and not something life changing like having a baby.
Today mom didn't seem to be in the mood for a conversation, she was too busy watching her reality show.
I somehow couldn't wait to share the news with them. My heart was bursting with joy as I struggled to contain myself.
"Mom, dad. I want to have a baby." I announced.
Mom took the TV remote and turned it off immediately.
Dad looked up from his chair suddenly wide awake.
"YOU WANT TO WHAT?!" Mom exclaimed turning to me.
"I want to have a baby, through a sperm donor." I repeated sitting up start to appeal more confident.
For a moment there was silence. I could see as the the anger charged up in my mom's face.
Dad didn't seem to care much, he rested himself back in his arm chair, his palm covering his face.
"Are you insane? Imagine what everyone will say, your father's clients!" She yelled.
I tell my mom I want to have a baby and the first thing she thinks about is my fathers clients.
My dad's law firm was a pretty big shot, my mom only cared about the image others perceived of us.
"I thought you would be more supportive than this," I muttered. I suddenly lost my confident.
"Joe! Can you hear your daughter." Mom yelled at dad.
He was still in his arm chair, his hand covering his face. Even with this news he still looked sleepy. Poor guy, he worked hard to meet my mothers demands.
"Hum," he said sitting up straight blinking the sleep out of his eyes.
She shook her heard at him then turned to look at me.
"I will not have my grandchild made in a science lab!" Her anger emplified as she said each word.
"I'll do this with or without your approval." I said.
I should have realized I'd never have her approvel, she nearly got a heart attack when my brother got his ex girlfriend pregnant.
"Thank you for the support," I said.
I got up from my seat and stormed out of the house, slamming the front door.
I could still hear mom's voice as she yelled my name in the background.
"Zoe!" Dad yelled after me as I speed walked to my car.
I quickly stopped in my tracks, dramatically swaying my whole body to turn to him.
"Did you come to lecture me as well," I said.
He stepped closer to me.
"No," he said then took his hand into mine. "The day I had you and your brother was the happiest day of my life. If that's what you really want, when I'll support you. There is nothing I would ever trade for the two of you," He said.
My dad, he was always the sweet one. He always knew the right things to say.
I found myself relaxing.
"Really? So you'll never trade us for anything? Not even for better children?" I said letting out a pout.
"Nothing," He said letting out a laugh.
"Thanks dad," I said.
He pulled me into a hug and rubbed my back.
"Go get it tiger," He whispered.
"Bye dad," I said.
I pulled away from the hug and walked to my car.
Dad really gave me the pep talk I needed. I was going to go through with this, and see it through. I was going to have my baby and no one was going to stop me.
I just had to find a donor.
