《A Bully's Regret》Chapter 7

Two days later, Grace walked back into the school hall and cursed softly when she saw Harrison there alone again. She was purposely five minutes late so that she wouldn't have to make small talk with him. Where were James and Ruth?
"They're not coming," Harrison said when he saw her hesitate at the door. "Problem with babysitter."
"And you didn't want to cancel?"
"I think it's best if we chatted privately," he answered. "I think you've been avoiding me."
"You don't say," she breathed.
"Can we sit and chat? Then we can go over reunion stuff, I swear."
Well, what choice did she have?
"Sure." She sat down with a sigh and placed her hands on the table, interlocking her fingers together.
"I'm not going to apologise for our kiss." he bluntly said. "I'm not sorry and frankly I would do it again if you'd let me."
"Is this supposed to make me feel better?"
"I wanna be open and honest with you. I think you've had enough bullshitters in your life. But the last thing I want to do is make you uncomfortable."
Too late.
"So I will apologise if you are, and I will promise that I wont bring it up again. You don't have to worry about me jumping your bones, no matter how much I want to."
Oh, God. She wanted that, too. She was so screwed.
"In regards to Jessica - please let me finish," he said when she tried to interrupt.
"We ended our physical relationship when I was nineteen. I haven't so much as kissed her cheek since then."
"What about lunching with her?" she asked before she could stop herself. Damnit now it sounded like she cared.

Harrison smiled, his eyes lighting up in pleasure at her obvious jealousy.
"You mean the lunch we have with about eight other teachers in the staff room?"
"Oh," she blushed.
"There's only one woman that I'm interested in, Gracie. And it's not Jessica."
She visibly swallowed as she noticed the glint of desire and determination in his eyes.
"Gotcha," she squeaked out.
"Now, reunion chat!" he said, abruptly changing the subject.
For the next forty minutes Harrison discussed with her the finer details of the reunion. How many people had RSVP'd, who the DJ was, who was setting up and packing down, the timeline of events, which company was providing the photo booth and games throughout the night. He even brought up the caterer on his phone and she oooh'd and ahhh'ed over the menu.
"This is just like planning a wedding," she joked. "You are the most organised bride ever."
Harrison laughed. "I keep asking Amelia if I can co-plan her reception."
"Can you plan our bridal shower, too?" she groaned.
"What are you doing for that again?"
"High tea at Eaton Inn. It's very posh, darling," she drawled, mimicking a transatlantic accent.
Harrison chuckled again. "It sounds fancy."
"Yeah, it is. Amelia loves European culture, particularly French, English and Irish. I just googled some ideas and then remembered that I had a lovely high tea at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco for a friend's thirtieth birthday. They had little cucumber and ham sandwiches, mini savouries and pastries and the most gorgeous scones with clotted cream and jam. So delicious and we felt so upperclass with our little tea cups and saucers," she giggled.
"That does sound good, actually. Why is she having a bridal shower and bachelorette? Are they two different things?"

"Yes and no. She basically wants to stretch this celebration out for as long as possible. Think a bridal shower is just a casual get together with friends, giving gifts to the bride et cetera. Whereas the bachelorette is a messy get together with your friends where you give out dollar bills to the stripper."
"Or make out with old fellow school pupils in a dark corner of a bar."
She glared at Harrison.
He laughed and held his hands up. "Sorry, sorry I couldn't resist. I won't bring it up again, I swear."
"Hmph!"
They spent another thirty minutes chatting about everything and anything. He asked about her time at college and her job. He seemed so interested, smiling gently every now and then when her face got animated talking about her latest projects.
He told her a bit about his own work, who he was coaching and which boys he thought had potential to make it into the draft. He touched on how his dad was doing and promised to bring Ryan to the reunion.
She glanced at the time. "Gosh, I better get going. I promised Amelia I would help out with the party favors. Lord knows what Liam did to get out of that. I swear she's only told him to show up and what time it starts!"
"Hey, he did a pretty good job picking out his tux."
"Pre approved by Amelia?" she queried.
He laughed. "You got me there. C'mon, let me give you a ride home."
They spent a further ten minutes chatting and laughing outside the house before Amelia texted her that she could make out with Harrison later, reminding her of the mammoth party favor task she had that night.
She was hilarious, she thought sarcastically.
Later in bed that night, Grace was watching re-runs of old Friends episodes when she came across one that reminded her of Harrison. Giggling to herself she sent him a small clip that she found on YouTube where Monica and Phoebe were supposed to be planning Rachel's birthday party but instead Monica overtook the whole planning event and relegated Phoebe to cups and ice.
Grace: Since everything else is sorted, shall I be in charge of cups and ice?
Harrison: Should I be expecting frozen slushies and cup decor?
Grace: Everyone loves a good snow cone machine!
He sent her a meme with Phoebe showing Chandler the different types of ice she provided.
She grinned as her thumb flew across her phone. They sent each other memes back and forth before she finally had to tell him that she was tired and needed to get some sleep.
Harrison: Goodnight, Gracie x
"Goodnight," she whispered to her phone.
