"I was broken from a young age
Taking my sulking to the masses
Write down my poems for the few
That looked at me, took to me, shook to me, feeling me
Singing from heartache from the pain
Taking my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the,"
Let's give you a name,' I exclaimed, to my wolf.
Her ears perked up in attention and interest. 'Who? Me?'
'Nah, my 10 day old child.' I said, dryly, rolling my eyes.
She pouted at my bluntness and sank back on her fours.
'I'm your child," she mumbled, giving me puppy eyes. When you close your eyes and talk to your wolves, you can actually picture them in your brain. It's weird. They have the form of a wolf, but the intellect of a human and a voice different from yours.
'Whatever!' I chuckled. 'Urm, what about Athena?'
'Hmmm,' she thought about it. 'I like it. But it doesn't hit me like I'd want it to.'
I nodded. 'Valencia?'
She shook her head and I sighed.
I raked my head for new, creative names. 'So, Althea?'
I gave a pleading, expectant look but she still shook her head, annoying me. I glared at her but she just gave a toothy grin.
'Don't be so picky.' I mumbled. 'You are lucky that you are at least getting the freedom to pick your name. Do you have any idea, about how many of us are stuck with boring names because our parents aren't creative enough?'
'What can I say? I am entitled!' She bragged while wiggling her tail and I rolled my eyes again, trying to hide my amusement.
I thought for a while before a perfect name came to me and I knew it, just knew she'd love it.
'Oh my god, this is a good one.' I exclaimed and she looked at me impatiently.
'Aurora.' I said, my own senses loving the sound of the name.
She remained silent for a while, damping my hope a bit before she squealed in glee and excitement.
'Oh my Goddess! Oli! This is the perfect name!'
Her screechy voice made me wince a little, but I was so happy. I could finally call my wolf by some name and not just by 'my wolf'.
Aurora is a beautiful name. It refers to the polar lights, both northern and southern ones. The science behind them is as beautiful as they are. Colorful lights the spread in the sky, leaving you captivated. That's kind of how I felt when I first shifted and saw myself.
It was a perfect name. Unusual in the werewolf world, and oh so, gorgeous.
'Are you happy now?' I asked.
'Oh, very!' she answered, as she practically jumped up and down in my mind.
It's quite a sight to watch a wolf jump like that, if you ask me.
It's been 7 days since Aurora talked to Lupus, and since then, we've been just waiting. We have decided to try to cheer each other up and not think about how fucked up our situation is. We decided to concentrate on the positive— which there isn't much of, to be honest.
On the good note though, Keith has left us alone for these 7 days and he hasn't made any appearance.
Food is served to me everyday however. Bad tasting, watery, kind of disgusting food. They just care because they want to keep me alive, but they don't care enough to cook nice food.

My meal is a single meal a day, consisting of a piece of bread, a bowl of watery soup, a disgusting vegetable and a handful of rice. Sometimes they are kind enough to serve me curd, but that's about it.
Though that's not enough. I am still hungry after eating that little meal because let's be honest, that's not enough for a growing teen who also has a wolf feeding of her.
Not to mention, that's all I get, ONCE a day.
Once I tried to complain and was denied food for the day. Suffice to say, I keep quiet now. I have learned the hard way that I am just a prisoner here. A prisoner who is important till I have some information according to them, and once it is extracted, they'd kill me.
I have to survive this. I can't give up now. Plus, it's just a matter of a few days till my pack finds Ryder, or gathers enough support to attack.
Just a few days, I tried to convince myself. Just a few more days.
Looking up the window I sighed, are there really just a few more days?
Now that I was in this situation, I kind of understood why people want power. Why everyone is power hungry. Had been the Luna or someone important in the pack, they would have come rushing to save me.
But I was nothing. No one important. So no one wants to risk anything for me.
Yes, I might be the 'rightful' beta female as Reece had once called me. But did that really mean anything if my mate didn't want me himself? Besides, I don't even think he has yet told anyone about it.
Does he even care that I might be dying?
Knowing Chance, I knew that I knew nothing about him. I could never tell what he wanted to do. Who he wanted to save.
For all I know, he might be celebrating at the idea of me leaving. Of me dying.
Looking at the empty, ugly walls, I sighed. Pulling me knees to me chest, I placed my head between my knees, wondering if there was anyway I could fool these people.
What if I lie to them, saying that I have the gem? But, I don't think it will work. Keith is too smart for that. He'll make me stay till he finds it.
What if I give them some random stone? But that has a risk. Because legends say that the rightful gem will burn everyone except the Luna and any random stone doesn't do so.
Alright, I am genuinely stuck.
Biting my lip, I raked my brain, thinking about stones that burn werewolves but the problem was that all of them would hurt me too.
I was busy I my thoughts when suddenly the door of the dungeon slammed open and I jumped up in fright. My frail heart started beating rapidly and I placed a hand over my chest in fear as I looked at the door.
But it was just Patricia. No one to fear. Just the smiling face of Patricia greeted me and I sighed in relief.
"Did I scare you?" She teased me, but I didn't laugh. Instead I gave her a sad smile.
I hated this. I hated being so fragile, so vulnerable and weak. I hated being scared of everything and everybody.
"Yeah," I said, in a small voice and she gave me an apologetic look.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, she suddenly exclaimed. "Look! What I got for you!"
It was then that I noticed the small box in her hands, that she opened up in front of me.

"Chocolate cake?" I gasped, looking at her in glee, and she nodded excitedly.
"It's my birthday!" She said and I jumped up, to hug her.
"Happy birthday!" I greeted her and she smiled.
"It wasn't hard to sneak this in," she said as I stuffed my face with cake. It felt so good, tasted so nice that I almost cried in happiness. I was tasting edible food after so long!
"God bless you!" I said dramatically and she chuckled.
"So as I said, it was easy to sneak it today. But I don't know when I'll be able to see you again." I gave her a sad look and she said.
"Keith is coming back tonight," she said.
Keith had gone to some sort of meeting a few days ago, hence, his absence. And now that he's about to come back, I'm sure he'll visit us.
And that visit won't be so pleasant.
"What are you planning to tell him?" She asked, her eyes holding pure concern.
I shrugged, not wanting to think about it just yet.
She gave me a stern look. "You don't have time to slack off, Olivia. I've heard people talking that the deal Keith was working on has been cancelled and his proposal has been rejected. He'd be angry and frustrated when he comes back. I know from experience that consequences are quite severe when he gets angry, and they are not pretty. I-I'm afraid for you, Oli. What if he hurts you more and I'm not able to do anything?"
Her voice quivered in the end and my heart broke to see her getting worried and sad.
"Don't worry, I'll handle it. I'll take care of myself." I mumbled, pulling her in for a hug which she returned.
"Promise me." She said and I sighed.
"I promise."
Patricia left in another half an hour because she heard the news that Keith was near. She didn't want the risk of getting seen near me.
She sprayed a chemical which erased her smell from my room and left, after giving me an encouraging, supportive look.
I had nothing to do, again. My stomach growled in hunger as I was even more famished after the small piece of cake.
I pressed my tummy to ease the ache, as I longed for the meal that they provided me.
They hadn't fed me today. They probably forgot to, because they were busy preparing for their ruler to come back.
My eyes were down casted on the dirty floor when the door of my cellar once again opened.
And this time I didn't have any doubt about who it was.
"Well well well," he chimed. His familiar voice sending a shiver of disgust down my spine. "Isn't it the lovely Luna?"
I looked straight at him, without saying anything. I didn't know what to say.
He cocked his head to the side and grinned, making me cringe.
"It's been a while, huh? You look too healthy for my liking."
The hostility in his voice made me shrink back and my hands automatically went to cover my arms that were yet to fully heal from his previous beatings. My heart beat skyrocketed in fear and anticipation of being tied to silver again.
"Did you miss me?" He asked, cracking his knuckles, looking at me like a predator looks at his prey.
My eyes immediately went to the door, to see it locked, with two guards standing at the other end.
Trapped. Vulnerable. Scared.
I moved back till I couldn't anymore and then I started crawling to the corner and he approached me with slow, predator steps.
"Why are you running away? I've done nothing yet," he said, too calmly.
My eyes shone with fear and my mouth ran dry as I found it difficult to breathe. Oh my god, no. He was so close. So close.
I moved a little back only to have him grab my hand suddenly.
"BITCH I SAID DON'T MOVE!" He growled, his voice switching from calm to very angry too soon.
I whimpered, my eyes already filling with tears and my breathe coming our irregular.
"P-Please leave," I mumbled, my handing shaking as pulled in his hold, trying to break free.
But he grabbed my other forearm too and pulled me up, pinning me against the wall.
I screamed as my back was slammed against the hard wall. The wall wasn't smooth, it hurt my back wherever it was rough.
"You're not allowed to speak when I do, got it?" He growled, again, pressing me against the wall more harshly as he pressed himself against me.
This wasn't okay. He was too close. He shouldn't not be so close. This isn't right. My body rejected his touch in everyway possible and I wanted to puke.
But how could I dare to tell him to back off when he made it clear that he doesn't want me to speak.
So I decided to just shut up and endure. That was my only option anyway.
I wish I had learned how to fight. I wish my parents weren't so protective and had let me join the pack warriors. I wish I was stronger and not so weak.
Tears ran down my eyes as his fingers made contact with my cheek. Not a hurting manner though, but in a soft manner.
His fingers caressed my cheek and I wanted to scream at him to stop. I wanted to push him off and run away. I wanted to kick him in the balls and then kill myself.
I would rather have him slap me than to do to be honest.
Because I have never felt so repulsed, so disgusted by someone. I have never felt ugly by someone's touch.
But with him, I was just the case.
"Your mate isn't here, what a shame," he whispered. "Don't you have needs to? Needs that have to be fulfilled? I can smell it on you, you aren't a virgin."
He licked his lips, his eyes looking at my body from top to bottom, lingering a bit too long at the chest, making me want to cover myself.
"I have no needs," I said, my voice shaking.
"Oh but I do." He replied, his voice sounding unsually dark as he pressed his lower abdomen against mine.
His obvious hardness poked my thigh making me petrified, and I froze in fright. I have never felt this unsafe in my life.
"Please move away," I said in a small voice, regretting almost immediately.
I closed my eyes tightly, thinking he'd hit me for speaking but surpringly, he just chuckled and moved away.
"I'm moving away today, sweetheart." He said in an overly sweet voice. "But maybe not tomorrow."
"Ask your mate through the mind link that I want to meet him. If you say that you don't the gem, then he does. And he will have to give it to me. We know he feels your fear and your pain, yet he's hiding and protecting the stone."
He moved slightly closer and looked in my eyes for impact as he said. "Tell him that Keith has given an ultimatum. If he doesn't report to my pack house by tomorrow evening 6 pm, then I'll have to do things that will make pain him and a kill him."
He eyes held determination and decisiveness as he gave me the last pointed look and left.
I sank to the ground, quivering, shaking with fear. My nerves, my heart, my head were quaking in fright and I choked a sob.
How can I call him by tomorrow when the pack has made it obvious that they won't come till they have enough forces?
Can I really ask Chance to come and risk his life? Or maybe Reece will come because he's the Alpha but then, he isn't my mate.
What if....what if no one comes by tomorrow, what will he do to me?

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery.
