EPILOGUE

Blair was now in her ninth month, she had long ago stopped putting in long hours, now down to a couple of hours a day. She did most of her work from home, leaving Rachel and Richie, the man they hired to help out to take care of the company in her absence. It was Richie's idea to have a daycare right in the same office building. Blair was thrilled with it, this way after the baby was born and she came back to work her son would still be with her all day. She wouldn't have to leave him at home with a nanny. Austin too was thrilled with the daycare, he knew how much it bothered her thinking about leaving their son when she returned to work.

Friday night they had to go to a party that his office was holding, a retirement party for one of the lawyers. She picked a dress that was slimming, even in her condition. Sitting on the bed with her shoes in her hand, pouting she just sat there until Austin came to see what was taking her so long.

Going over he sits next to her, seeing she was upset he put his arm around her. "What's wrong sweetheart?"

"I'm so fat," she whimpered.

"No you're not, you're pregnant."

"Yes, I am. I'm so fat I can't even put my shoes on. Why would you want to be seen with me looking like this? With all those slim and beautiful women that are going to be there tonight, you might start thinking about being with them, the skinny bitches."

He got up, pulling her to her feet. "I promised you I would always be honest with you so believe me when I tell you that you look beautiful. If you're not up to going out tonight we don't have to, we can stay home and watch a movie."

"No, I want to go. I'm sorry, I'm just being emotional."

When they arrived at the party he walked in with his arm around her waist. With her emotions being like a roller coaster lately, he didn't want her getting upset by thinking he wasn't paying attention to her. He also had to be careful around other women, had to make sure he didn't look at any for too long in case she thought he was interested in them. As a rule, she wasn't the jealous type but in her condition she now was.

He went and got them a drink, a scotch for him and juice for her. They mingled with the others until the music started and he took her over to the dance area, pulling her into his arms.

"Yes, but tell me again," she said, resting her head on his shoulder. "I love you Austin, I'm so sorry for being such a bitch lately."

He lifted her chin up. "You're not being a bitch, don't ever say that. You're pregnant and I admire how women can carry a tiny human being inside her for nine months. After the speeches were made and food served she goes over to Austin who was talking with one of the other lawyers and his wife, she taps him on the shoulder. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Austin, I'm really tired and I want to go home. If you want to stay a little longer I can take a cab home."

"I'm just tired."

They said their goodbyes and left to go home, but before they got far she said she wanted something sweet to munch on so he stopped at the store and bought her some chocolates and ice cream.

Later that night he was fast asleep when she woke him up, thinking it was the baby he jumped out of bed, grabbing his pants starts to put them on. "Are you in labour? It's too soon, oh God, I'll get you to the hospital."

"I'm not in labour silly."

He looked at the clock and saw it was the middle of the night. "Then why did you wake me?"

She rolled her eyes at him when he drove way under the speed limit. "What are you, ninety years old? Go faster will you?"

"Sweetheart, I just want to make sure I get you to the hospital safely."

"Well unless you want to pull over and deliver the baby on the side of the road I suggest you step on it a little."

He looked at her and started to sweat. "Are the contractions that close?"

"Let's just say they are coming hard and fast, this baby is coming now."

He started driving faster, but still being careful, they finally made it to the hospital and inside where he signalled for a nurse. He told her his wife was in labour and they took her in right away.

Four hours later their son, weighing six pounds even was born.

"You did it, our boy is here," he said kissing her when they put the baby in her arms. "I love you so much and you have made my life complete."

He was then sent out of the room while they tended to Blair and the baby. He called her parents to let them know the baby had come early and both were doing good. Then he called Rachel, he had to hold the receiver away from his ear when she screamed from excitement.

He was finally allowed to go in to see her and his son. His eyes watered up when he walked over and looked in the bed where he laid, asleep.

"He's amazing isn't he?" she said when she opened her eyes and saw Austin looking down at their baby, his hand touching him.

He went and sat next to her, taking her hand he kissed it. "I love you."

"I love you too, but we need to name him. I like the name we talked about. Leo, Marcus Cooke. I think my father will be so happy."

"I like the names too," he said, going over he picked up the baby and looked at him, smiling. "My son." He then placed Leo in Blair's arms, taking out his phone snapped several pictures.

It wasn't long before they had visitors, her parents and Rachel, Harry and his wife also showed up. Everyone brought so many gifts for the baby that it filled one end of the room. It was getting late and Blair was exhausted and she was glad when the nurse came in and told everyone that they had to leave because visiting hours were over.

Two months later: Austin was taking a shower before going to bed, it had been a rough couple of months.
