It's the weekend, and I've been helping dad at the library. While Lincoln had left the pack borders regarding his family business. He called me earlier this morning, saying he'll be back by noon. Tonight, we were planning on going out for dinner.

Three hours had passed and a few borrowers had come and gone. Since there wasn't much to do, I sat by the window with a coffee in hand. Dad was helping a little girl find her book. Just then my phone buzzed. I felt giddy hoping it was Lincoln, but to my surprise it was an unknown number.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Mia?"

"Hey Penny!" It's been like forever since I heard from her. So much had happened after I left the mansion that day.

"I was hoping you'd be free to talk." I could feel her warm smile as she spoke.

"I'm free. I missed you so much Penny!"

"Same here Mia! But I've been hearing the news of how you've been getting along with Alpha Lincoln and it makes me so happy. I wanna see you both together my dear." I chuckled at her adoration.

"How are you and the other girls?"

"All good, we just wish you hadn't left us. The mansion was so much alive and happy with you around." Her voice laced sadness.

"I hope you understand why I had to do that Penny, I'm sorry I had to leave like that." I bit my lip.

"Please don't be sorry Mia. I understand. But..." she began pondering over her words. "You were both happy together at the mansion, until that morning." Should I tell her about what Patricia the maid said to me? Would Penny keep it a secret.

"Penny I-"

"It's Patricia isn't it? That morning she was alone with you in the kitchen. Oh Mia, only if I had known then. Oh goddess, she made you go through the rejection!" Penny began rambling through the phone. I had to go see her and comfort her. She sounded like she was in fault. Before I could console her with words, a familiar voice echoed through the speaker.

"Penny! Did I hear you right?" His voice shook with anger. I abruptly stood up, my hand covered my mouth in shock. What time was it? A quarter to one. Lincoln had come back.

"Penny!" I called out to her.

"Al- Alpha I..." The line died.

Penny was in trouble. She is in trouble because of me. I knew what Lincoln is capable of doing when he's angry. As my feet dragged me to my car, I tried calling him but he wouldn't pick up. Giving my clueless father a quick wave I drove away.

I stopped in front of his mansion and there was no one to be seen, except for a gardener who said that Lincoln was at the pack house.

Parking my car, right beside his, I walked through the door.

"Mia darling!" Luna Catherine came up to me.

"Luna, I need to see Lincoln. Or Penny? Anyone?" My voice sounded frantic.

"Calm down Mia. Is everything alright?" She inspected my face. I shook my head.

"Mia?" Tyler walked down the stairs.

"Ty I need to see Lincoln. Penny is in trouble because of me." I walked up to him for help.

"He's in the dungeons with her. Come!" He held my shoulder, taking me to the lower level.

"She didn't do anything wrong." I told him.

"We know." He led me through the gates that was guarded by female warriors. They bowed to him before opening the locks.

I heard a she wolf growl in agony. I held my breath, striding towards the noise, Tyler following me behind.

"Penny!" I called as soon as she came into sight. "Oh goddess you're fine." I pulled her in for a hug. A wave of relief washed over me to see her completely fine, standing beside Lincoln himself.

His eyes though were trained on the, not one but two women behind the bars.

Patricia and Sarah! Looking absolutely uncared for. Two strong female wolves stood on each side. With their fists curled up, ready to punch.

Those greyish green eyes, held hate, disgust and anger. At this point I felt it was safe for them both to stay locked up or Lincoln wouldn't hesitate to kill them both in seconds. That definitely wasn't a sight for me to watch.

"Of course I'm fine. Why didn't you tell me Mia?" She sighed. Lincoln eyes met mine, waiting for my reply.

"You fucking bitch! You ruined everything!" Sarah shrieked before I could answer Penny and Lincoln. Our eyes instantly snapped to her.

The female warrior, threw a punch on Sarah's jaw, making her fall on the ground. A whimper left my lips, I knew I shouldn't be feeling anything to a lady like her. But I couldn't help myself. The blow could have put her jaw out of place. "I wanted to do that for so long." The warrior spoke to the other with a smirk. I swallowed my cries, thinking about the pain Sarah had inflicted on poor Rosalie and many other girls. She deserved it.

"I hope you die!" Sarah spat blood. I felt numb to her words, it did nothing to me. Yet, her words may have made an impact on Lincoln. He let out a vigorous growl, before yanking the thick metal bars, pulling them apart. Penny held me back, as we watched in shock. "I wanna kill her now!"

Luckily Tyler stepped in.

"Lincoln!" He tried to pull him back, but to no avail.

"Open the fucking gates now!" He kept widening the bars. Sarah and Patricia cowered against the walls. Two more pulls and he could get through.

"Lincoln! Look at me!" Tyler raised his voice. "You can't kill her for now. Remember! We gotta do other things." He clearly wasn't listening to anything, all he saw was red. He pushed Tyler by the chest, he stumbled a few steps back.

"Mia, talk to him." He pulled me by the arm. "Ask him to stop. Please!"

I stood beside an untamed beast. "Lincoln." My voice was barely a whisper, when his roars echoed through the whole dungeon. He pulled apart the bars that kept him away from his prey. Before he could set foot into the cell, I held his arm as firmly as I could. "Lincoln!" I cried out. His chest heaved, but the growls and his movement paused. "Look at me." I demanded.

"You shouldn't be doing this." His face snapped to me, my breath caught in my throat. His eyes menacing, ready to kill.

I pressed my palm on his chest, his rapid heartbeat began to scare me. As soon as his eyes recognized the fear in mine. He captured my lips with hunger. My hand still laid over his heart, feeling himself calm down. I willingly kissed him back, it felt good to be the one to calm the monster in him. "Don't be afraid of me. Ever!" He spoke in a gruff voice. I hummed in response, completely aware of the audience we had. That too inside a dungeon.

"Linc, we need to get you out of here." Tyler advised.

Lincoln asked me step back with Penny before he pronounced Patricia as a rogue and ordered her to leave the pack before dawn. As for Sarah, I had no idea what was to happen to her. The female warriors shifted her to another cell.

At the office, Alpha Elijah had joined us. Tyler gave him an update about had happened to the maid. They made me confess everything she said to me that morning at the mansion before I had left Lincoln.

Soon they had left us, alone.

Lincoln had me in his arms while we sat on the couch. "What's bothering you?" I asked, breaking his deep thoughts. He seemed to be thinking about something.

"Nothing."

I stroked his worry lines with my thumb. "Are you sure?"

"Hmm." He closed his eyes at my touch. "I just don't want you to leave me." He brought my hand to his lips. "I wanna keep you so close to me." He voice so raw with emotion.

I nodded in understanding.

"I know I shouldn't rush but, move in with me. In that case you're always near me." He held my face. Lincoln began fretting over something. "I can't lose you baby."

He was worried about me leaving him. He cares so much, it's quite evident just by looking at his face now. Did Sarah's words make that much of an impact on him? Or was it something more.

"Lincoln, nothing's going to happen."

"You don't understand Mia."

"You can't let her words get to you. So much has happened between us and now, finally we're getting to know each other. Taking things slow." I pecked his lips. "Nothing will happen." I reassured him.

"Come here!" He pulled me by the waist on to his lap. I moaned as he sucked above my collar bone before trailing up to my lips, devouring them. While his hands roamed all over my body. He kissed me hard like I'd be gone and he could never be able to kiss me again. There was so much yearning in it.

I could just melt away right now, this was the affection I wanted from him. Mate or not, Lincoln needs me as much as I need him.

Lincoln Hunters

"I curse you Lincoln Hunters! I fucking curse you. May your mate die just like how my mate was killed. And you will watch helplessly, every second she suffers and screams for you. You. Will. Watch. Helplessly!"

Holding my girl in my arms right now, still hasn't calmed my beating heart. I'll take death upon myself before anything could happen to her. The words spoken by the rogue shouldn't bother me at all but, it is. When Sarah muttered similar words to Mia today, I would've ripped her heart out with my own hands. If wasn't for Mia, her voice brought me back.

Kai has been prancing back and forth, he wants to keep them close to us. It seemed like the only solution to my troubled thoughts.

"What's bothering you?" Mia's innocent voice brought out of my thoughts. Her doe eyes staring at me for answers.

She wanted to take our relationship slow. And I'm not a man with patience, but I completely respect her point of view. I'm willing to give her the space and time to decide. To be honest, showing her how much I love and care for her, has revealed a new side to me as well. I've begun to realize how much she's changing me as a man. It's like I'm finally entering into the most peaceful and beautiful side of life. Something that I never knew before and never thought it existed.

Kai wanted to mark her so bad as I began to kiss with so much need. There something about her scent that still felt intoxicating.

"I love you." I stated as our lips pulled apart. Her cheeks completely flushed, her eyes spoke of the same love I had declared for her. "You don't have to say it back." I smiled at her innocence. She thinks she could hide her feeling for me. But those eyes, they gave away everything she felt for me. It won't be long before her lips speak those words.

When it was time for her to leave, I began feeling paranoid. I somehow convinced her to let me drive her around, wherever she wanted to go to. Even when she denied moving in with me for now. I needed to be with her for my sanity's sake. Though there were guards around, I trusted no one, when it came to her. Why did the words of Sarah and the rogue I met a long time ago bother me so much? It shouldn't! Mia will be safe. With me.

Right?

That evening, Tyler and Matt walked in with the papers of approval for Benjamin's conviction. The werewolf council had given us the date to proceed with the punishment he deserved. Death it is. It was to be taken place three days from now.

His mate Nina, had left back to her pack where her family belonged as soon as she found about the secrets the brother and sister had hid from us for years.

Once Benjamin is out of the picture, Sarah would be the only concern of the pack. With everyone curious about what I'll be doing to her. They'll just have to wait and see.
