《Hot Chocolate》chapter eighteen, badminton.

I'm fucking stupid, that's what I am. I don't know why I thought last night changes things.
"Sup, man." I slumped down beside Jake.
"Marco De!"
*
I have classes with Camila but I purposefully avoided her. I'm getting attached.
Actually no, I'm not. We always hung out before we started things. It's making us drift and I'm the only one trying to stop it.
Scott's actually decent company, and Katie too. But I don't get why she's helping me with the Cami and Matt situation.
"She's not replacing me, her times just divided now..."
"You don't want that though, and you should say something about it."
"Wait a second," I dropped my pencil when the realisation hit me and turned to her, "you fancy, Matt?"
"Oh hell no! If anything it's the opposite. Camila's my friend and I know you treat her better than he ever would."
"Mhm." I smirked, "you like him."
"Ugh no! I'm never helping you again DeMarco."
"Yeah, yeah."
*
I walked passed a social area during a free period and noticed her. Alone.
I debated going in as I leaned on the doorframe. She had her hair clipped up out of her face and glasses perched on the end of her nose. She never wears her glasses, I always teased her when we were younger, even though they suit her, really.
"Sorry Mrs. Humphrey, didn't know this was the library."
She glanced up and quickly took the glasses off, laughing at my comment. "Fuck you."
I sat across from her, dropping my bag to the floor. "Joking." I picked up the glasses of the table and dodged her hand that tried to steal them back. "What are we studying?"
I placed them on the very tip on my nose, looking down on her. She tried to act serious but the corners of her mouth turned up. "My Geography homework."

I sucked my teeth, "not sure I can help then."
"Thanks." She pulled the glasses from me and put them back on, reading whatever was in front of her. She took a second before sighing, "I was going to tell you."
"About what?" I dug.
"I got coffee with Matt after school. We didn't do anything though."
"It's cool, you are allowed to, you know." She wasn't going to tell me. I know she wasn't.
She replied with a hum and carried on reading, so I did my calculus homework - with a bit of her help.
"Wanna get hot chocolate later?" She gazed up at me through the black framed glasses.
"With cream?" I asked jokingly, earning me a smile mixed with a scoff.
"We can't have cream everyday, Theo."
"Ugh fine." I rolled my eyes dramatically. "Emma's?"
"Sure."
Maybe last night did change things? I guess time will tell.
*
"Me and Theo went there- yeah last summer..."
We actually spoke during lunch. Ok yeah, there were other people with us, but still. Things actually felt normal.
Last class was gym - which was handy because we have training afterwards.
I threw on a t-shirt and shorts in the locker room before heading out to the gym hall. The girls do volleyball in here, the nets and balls left aside. It's about the same size as our court, maybe even bigger.
I sat on the benches beside Scott and Chris as we waited for coach.
"Blondie in grey has cake." Joey and Matt came and sat beside me. "I'd tap that."
"Hm." I ignored his comment, not even looking at who he was talking about. It pisses me off when people openly objectify girls, it's not that hard to keep your thoughts to yourself.

The volleyball team came out wearing their gear, probably so they don't have to change afterwards. Most of them wore Nike pros or just really short shorts, catching Joey's eyes. "Damn, I might come watch netball practice later."
"Volleyball." I corrected him.
"Same thing- oh shit Matt, look at your girl, damn."
Matt chuckled and I glanced up to see Camila across the hall. Her blue hoodie rested just above her ass, showing it clearly through the short, tight black fabric that barely reached her thighs.
"How's it going with her, eh?"
"Drop it." He said quietly through his teeth, probably not wanting me to hear. "It's going good."
I cleared my throat and tried to stop myself from bashing their heads in.
"You two still besties or are you finally fucking?" Joey asked me, mocking the word.
I was tempted to make a joke or rub it in Matt's face but I can't do that to Cami.
"Still besties." My grip on my shoelaces tightened as I wrapped the bow.
"I don't know how you keep your hands off her, mate."
I don't, mate.
It must have irritated Matt too because he got up and walked away from the situation.
"Warm ups!" Coach's booming voice filled the room.
People began running laps of the hall. I ran with Scott behind a group of girls, Cam included. I can't pretend I didn't look at her ass. I mean, it's big. I contained my smile remembering the ways I've grabbed or ground against it, but I quickly realised I'm probably not the only one looking at it.
I sped up slightly, catching up to Cami. I grabbed the hem of her hoodie, tugging it over her ass. "The fuck- Theo!"
"Sup."
"Thanks Dad." She complained.
"Anytime."
I ran by her side for the next few laps.
After a few stretches we divided into teams for badminton - Camila and Joey against myself and a redhead named Dani.
She seemed to be quite bubbly and happy we were on the same team, patting my arm and squealing when we got a point.
I can't say I didn't enjoy standing across from Cam, especially when she bends down to pick up the shuttlecock, it just motivated me to get more points.
"You're so good at this!" Dani smiled up at me.
"Thanks." I greeted with a slight smile before quickly bringing my eyes back to Camila.
My smile immediately dropped when I saw Camila picking up the shuttlecock with Joey eyes glued to her. He tapped his racket off her ass, making me want to strangle him. My blood boiled and my knuckles turned white from gripping my racket. She turned around to look at the smirking blonde. She raised her racket and swung her arm, whacking him in the side of his face. "Enjoying the view are we?"
"Ah, fuck." He rubbed his temple and nose. I loosened my grip and eased back with a smile.
