《Mi Reina》Chapter Twenty - Damn

"So, what do you want to do?" I asked Nicolas, who was jumping on the bed that I was laying on. Right now, I was in one of the guest rooms in Ricardo's house where I had stayed last night.
I am still overwhelmed by everything that has happened in the last twenty four hours; I saw my ex, who could be a zombie, Adrian's Mom passed away and someone is after me.
I still can't believe that they broke into my house. Stupid ass motherfuckers.
"Can we play tag?" He asked, continuing to jump.
"Tag? Really?" I whined, too lazy to run. "Anything else you like doing?"
"Tag is his favorite game so, no. He'll make you play with him no matter what." A voice spoke. I looked up and saw Ric at the doorway.
He was wearing an outfit that he usually does. Black chinos with a dress shirt tucked into them. Ric said that he normally does his 'work' at home in his office but occasionally goes to a warehouse that is close by.
I knew that staying here for today wasn't the best option because, I mean, he's dangerous too but I had nowhere else to go that would guarantee my safety.
"Eavesdropping much?" I teased.
"Hey! That's not true." Nic exclaimed, making me jump slightly.
"If you don't want to play tag, I won't make you." He smiled. "I like troubling Dadda."
I grinned at his last sentence and glanced at Ric, wanting to know his reaction on what his son had just revealed.
"Oops...." Nic mumbled when he realized what he had just said.
"Yeah, oops indeed." Ricardo said, before coming onto the bed to tickle his son.
"Dadda!" He laughed. "Noooo....ahahaha...stop..."

Not more than a minute later, Nicolas had managed to climb over me and out of the bed. He ran outside the room, giggling his lungs out.
I chuckled at how adorable he looked while he did so and glanced at Ric, who had already been looking at me.
My smile slightly faded away as I realized our position. I was laying down on my back while he hovered over me, his arms on either side of me.
How did this even happen? When?
His face was so close to mine, our lips only inches away. His stubble looked very evident now that I was so close to him. I bit my lips when I realized our proximity and looked up to meet his dangerous dark brown orbs.
His gaze went from my lips that I was biting on and connected back to my eyes. I felt like he was debating on something in his head. We were so close to each other but stayed right where we were, none of us daring to move.
I looked away to hide the blush that appeared on my cheeks but it seemed to draw his attention even more. Our breaths slowed down and our lips almost touched, brushing against each other for only a second as he slightly moved his arms that were supporting him.
"Dadda?" I heard Nicolas' faint voice.
As soon as we heard his voice, our eyes widened. We both tried moving at the same which resulted in our heads bumping into each other.
I rubbed my forehead to soothe the pain and he did too, adjusting himself to sit on the bed properly. We looked at each other and not a moment later, we burst out into laughter.
"Dadda?" Nicolas spoke, now in the room. We stopped laughing but still snickered here and there making the little four year old look at both of us like we were crazy.

"What's up, Buddy?" Ric asked his son.
"Uncle Toni is here." He said, excitement clear in his tone of voice.
"Well, I'm gonna have to go." Ricardo said, now turning to me.
"Oh, no problem. Bye!" I said, waving my hand.
"I'm not leaving the country, Xia. I'm going downstairs." He teased, getting out of the bed and standing. "Also, do you want to come? I asked him to find out about um....what happened yesterday. He might have something."
"Oh, alright. I'll come." I said, dragging myself out of the bed.
"Yeah, I'll come too." Nicolas said, a mischievous smile on his face.
"You have to go to school, Nico." Ricardo reminded his son.
"Noooo. I wanna be with Xia." He whined, running to me and hugging my leg.
I heard Ricardo sigh under his breath, "Nico..."
I lifted the little guy in my arms and told him, "I'll tell you what. You remember when I had told you that we would spend the whole day together?"
He nodded eagerly, playing with the bunch of hair that had manged to escape from my braid.
"Well, today is that day. The sooner you go, the sooner you come." I smiled.
"Okay, but don't leave before I come back." He pouted, holding me tighter.
"I won't." I promised, placing him back onto the ground.
"Come, Dadda. I'm going to school." He told his father, leading him to the door of the room by pulling his hand.
"You changed his mind really fast." Ricardo said, before he could leave the room.
I really did, didn't I? Wow.
About an hour later, Nicolas was at school. Before he went, he made me write a pledge saying that I wouldn't leave the house before he came back. I also made a cream cheese and sweetcorn sandwich for him to eat when he was hungry.
Now Antonio, Ricardo and I were in the office that was in the mansion. I had never wandered around here due to the fact that I knew that I would get lost in here. There were so many rooms and rooms in here.
The door that led to Ricardo's office was a huge brown oak door that kinda matched the entire architecture of the house. Damn.
This place looked so modern with a dark theme that almost made me want to work in here. There was a chandelier that hung from the ceiling, giving the place an extravagant yet simple look.
"Xia?" Ricardo said my name.
"Hm?"
"I said, have a seat." He repeated.
"Ah, okay." I replied and took a seat on one of the very expensive looking chairs while the brother did the same.
Well, let's see who is annoying the hell out of me by tearing apart my apartment and threatening me. It could Devon for all I know but one could never be too sure.

Necromancer's Resolve
Foster Locke's life wasn't the harshest it could have been. But it wasn't the easiest either. Despite losing the last of his family and having immense debt thrown on him, getting the chance to keep practicing Martial Arts pulled away, and having a completely messed up sleep-schedule, he usually tried his best to stay positive to the outside world. Of course, that wasn't always possible, especially not when he was staring into the glowing eyes of a man-eating creature he had never heard of before. The glowing message-box that accompanied it wasn't much better either. Not to mention the fact that he was suddenly in a dark forest instead of the train station. This isn't a story of great anguish, inescapable peril, or heroic world-saving. Rather, it's one of a young man trying to get by in a world that seems to try his best to kill him. I hope you enjoy the read. --- Cover Image temporary [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
