《Mi Reina》Chapter Forty - Villa

No way. No, he didn't. There's no way in hell that this is real.
I thought that I would know where Rico was taking us at the end of the flight but 'Rico the butt-head' had told the pilot to not say that one line and the whole time I was annoyed at him. So here I was, gazing outside the window while trying to figure out where we were during the car ride.
Since a driver had come to pick us up, there wasn't a car seat in the car so Rico and I decided to to place Nico between us in the backseat, just to be safe while a bodyguard sat in the passenger seat next to Diego, our driver.
My guess took me by surprise. This is had to have been...Majorca. It had to. I've been wanting to visit this island ever since I moved to Spain. At the time, I was new to the place and once saw it on a brochure; the beautiful beaches, the stunning beach houses near them. I loved everything about this place.
I'm so used to the pictures on my vision board that I'm so sure that the building in front of me was in the Cultured Capital City of Palma de Mallorca.
The splendid stained-glass windows including several rose windows illuminate the sanctuary with an ethereal glow, making it look as though it was made of gold. The gigantic baldachin on the roof is shaped like a crown of thorns. I've heard that from the terrace on the south side of the cathedral, one can enjoy a magnificent view of the bay.
I couldn't believe my eyes.
I turned to Rico who had already been looking at me with an awaiting expression.
"You brought us to Majorca?" I asked, wanting to hear him say it.

"I did." He confirmed. "Do you like your surprise?"
"Like it? I freaking love it, Rico!" I exclaimed, leaning over Nico to give him a hug. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I gave him a small peck on his cheek due to the fact that I didn't exactly want to french kiss him in front of Diego the Driver, Bill the Bodyguard and the four year old between us.
He returned it and before he could make contact with my lips, I pulled away. He shot a playful glare towards me to which I responded with an innocent smile.
"And what about me?" Nico asked, looking up at me with pleading eyes.
I kissed him too and just as I was about move back, he wrapped his tiny arms around the back of my neck to prevent me from moving any further. He kissed my cheek and stated, "I love you."
My heart felt all fuzzy at his sentence. I loved him too, more than he could ever imagine so I said it back to him and the face that he made after that was the cutest thing that one could possibly experience in their entire lifetime.
"We're here." Diego announced, as the car came to a halt. Being excited to see more of the island that I've always wanted to visit, I peeked out of the window and literally felt my jaw drop open at the sight of the stunning Mediterranean beach house in front of me.
"Let's go!" Nico shouted, clearly excited.
Getting out of the black SUV, we took out our luggage from the trunk of the car while I stared at the house in front of me. The beach has always been my peaceful haven; a place where I could feel my worries drift away.

As a child and even a teenager, I used to love spending time at the beach with my family. We would build sand castles together, go sea shell hunting and my favorite of all was making sand angels with my brother, Damon.
Seeing the beach house in front of me was like a dream which blurred the line between reality and fantasy. I never expected to be living in one like this; a coastal modern villa with a simple but elegant and sophisticated design.
"Come on, Xia." Rico said, stretching his hand out for me to hold, which I gladly did. He entwined his fingers around mine causing a fluttery feeling in my stomach.
Bill the bodyguard stood outside the entrance of the house while Diego the driver remained seated in the car. Okay, then.
The three of us walked on the long path of gravel and entered the house, which again, took me by surprise. This has everything that I ever wanted in a beach house.
It has a large open living area which is clad in a beautiful celery top pine timber on the walls and ceiling, making it seem cozy and warm. Nic and I roamed all around the place, captured by the serenity of this beautiful location while Rico walked behind us.
I stood in the balcony and imagined myself sitting on the chairs in the balcony, enjoying the view of the blue sky, the white sand, watching dolphins frolic in the sea and shorebirds play tag with the aqua blue waves. The distinct but familiar sea air filled my senses as I took a deep breath.
Overall, the villa was an elegantly great design with a touch modernistic simplicity to it. The beach, on the other hand, looked isolated but gorgeous at the same time; the golden-yellow sand shone under the fierce, hot and yellow sun, making them look like sapphires.
"Do you like the house?" Rico asked, while I showed Nico the dolphins in the sea by pointing at them to which he clapped in excitement.
"Yeah, I love it, actually." I said honestly. "The view is beautiful."
"It is, isn't it?" He replied, snaking his arms around my waist and it was only then when I realized what he had actually meant.
I leaned my head behind, resting it on Rico's shoulder. "Nico is here."
"Yes, and?" He questioned, placing his stubbly jaw on my bare shoulder due to the fact that I was wearing a spaghetti tank top now. And as soon as he did, I felt a chill run down my spine.
This man is getting on my nerves. He's been doing those tiny little things that make me feel all tingly in the last few days and if I'm being honest, it irks me a little.
Says the person who wanted to take things slow.
"I wanna go to the beach!" Nico shouted, jumping up and down.
Oh, boy! This boy so full of energy and then there's me, still jet lagged even though I had slept the entire flight.
