《Mi Reina》Chapter Fifty Two - Bullet

"You know, it wasn't all me." Adrian denied. "Lorenzo told me that the raid at the park was him, the death of my mother however, was planned. When I didn't join him at first, he killed my mother to prove his point about being able to break me.
They were all my ideas, though. Breaking into your house, getting the men to sit at the bakery to get you all panicked, threatening you by vandalizing your apartment, attacking the jet. Just the small stuff.
Also, before you ask, yes, I was pissed because he killed my mother but she deserved it anyway. She never gave me enough love that Layla got. So, you can't exactly blame me, I was forced into it."
"Yeah? Well what about after Lorenzo died?" I questioned while I felt the ropes and the types of knots that wound my wrists together so that I could figure out a way to break out of them. "Did he threaten you from his grave too?"
"Sarcastic, as always." He sighed. "I needed someone to do the dirty work for me and instead of using Lorenzo's men, I got that crazy ex, Devon, of yours to get you all scared and shit so you would come to me and leave this little 'family' of yours.
I wanted to stay as far away as I could and Lorenzo's men didn't know anything about so I thought of the next best person for the job."
Everything that had ever happened added up now, just like a puzzle completing itself in my mind. "Devon." I completed his sentence.
"Ding, ding, ding!" He imitated the sound of a bell. "Fun fact: I wanted Devon to kill Ricardo, but that motherfucker couldn't even aim properly and ended up killing Lorenzo."
"So, you're working with Lorenzo's men now?" I asked, slightly wiggling my feet to try and get the ropes around me loosen a little.

"Not with. They're working for me." He replied, accentuating the word, 'for'.
"But, I just want you to know that I would never want to hurt you in anyway and I already have, I am so sorry, Xia. These people want you only because you're like a maid to them by taking care of that four year old devil."
A wave of anger rushed over me as he revealed everything that took place in the last few months. It's unbelievable to know that he was the same person who used to be my best friend and basically my rock when I went through some really hard times.
It's not that he changed or something, it's just that the mask fell off which revealed the real him. I should have realized his behavior, the way that he was distant all of a sudden.
"Firstly, you already hurt me by hurting the people I love and care for." I pointed out. "Secondly, I know for a fact that they would never, ever treat me like that. Thirdly, the only devil I see is standing right in front of me."
"I'm honored, really." He ran his hands through his hair.
I had planned a way to get out of here but the only problem was that Rico wasn't conscious yet and I was starting to get worried. I wasn't sure whether my plan was going to work, but I had to give it a try anyway.
"Oh no, Nico...He's in the laundry room." I acted like I was afraid to throw them off.
"Really, the laundry room?" Adrian raised his eyebrows while he smiled devilishly. "Bates, go get that child from the laundry room."
He told one of the men who stood in the room to get Nico from a place where he definitely wouldn't be and I couldn't contain my happiness as I realized that my plan could work after all. By now, I was pretty sure that with a little more strength, I would be able break out of these ropes because they were ties poorly.

I'm sure that even Nico would be able to tie them tighter.
After a while, the man who I now know is Bates, came back and told Adrian that he couldn't find the boy. At this, he got annoyed and told the other guy to go search too. And once both of them left, I took a deep breath and carried on with my plan.
In one swift movement, I managed to get only my hands out of the ropes and I placed my feet on the floor at an angle and did a squat-like motion, pushing all my weight downwards.
With a loud noise, the wooden chair snapped and loosed the ropes on my legs and before Adrian could do anything about it, I pushed his legs which resulted in him falling to the floor.
Acting quickly, I stood above him and bent down almost straddling him. I repeatedly gave his jaw multiple blows, like I was punching all of my anger out feeling the anger course through my veins. He tried fighting back but I did not stop. I didn't care that he was once my best friend and like my brother. All I saw was a backstabbing bitch in front of me.
I pounded onto him until his nose bled, recreating the same exact wounds that he had given Rico including a broken nose. The bleeding took a toll on him, sending him right into unconsciousness.
"Boss, we couldn't-" I heard a voice speak but as soon as I did, I heard a noise that sounded something between a pop sound and and loud crack from which I could only assume that someone had fired a gun.
It shut the voice up almost immediately and no sooner, another sound similar to that of the first followed and the slight thumping of bodies made me think that they had been shot down.
I turned around and was met with the sight of three of the people whom I could trust with my life; they were none other Antonio, Callum and Julian.
They were all dressed up in either pajamas or casual clothes so I could only assume that coming here was the first thing that they did after finding out what had happened in here.
I stood up from where I was and at the same time, Antonio came running to me with a worried expression that took over his face.
"Are you alright?" He checked my face for any wounds.
"I'm fine. Check on Rico, though, he still hasn't woken up." I replied, feeling a little relieved.
"Okay, but are you sure you're okay?" He asked again.
"I'm fine, Toni." I sighed.
"Where is Nico?" Julian asked, concerned about the safety of his grandson.
"He's in the panic room, I'll get him." I said, looking at the bruises that had been made on my wrists by the ropes tied.
"No, no. I will, don't worry about it." Callum smiled, walking towards the staircase to go upstairs.
I went to where Rico was being examined by his brother and asked him what was wrong seeing that Toni looked a little worried now.
"Uhh..." He paused for a while. "His pulse is very faint, Xia. There is something wrong with him; we have to go to the doctor. Now."
That sentence was enough to make my heart thump against my chest yet again.
