The next flew by way faster than I had expected, people rush around the home shoving past me to put up decor, others stopping me to ask my preference. However, they soon realized they would hate what I wanted and stopped asking. 

Ares stayed busy, reaching out to all the other Alphas for the Lunar Ball took time, let alone the arrangements that had to be made to accommodate. As promised, by the fucker himself, I am not required to take on my role until my name is Veronica Gray which he assumes will happen sooner rather than later. 

The grey haired woman from before is named Meredith, and she finds any and all reason to bug me, "Mrs. Gray, you need to eat. He will have my head if you don't shovel something down." 

"Meredith, I'm not hungry. Tell the Alpha to kiss my ass."

"I am not repeating that!" 

"Then deal with me not eating, please. I just need a moment of peace." I wave her away, but she holds place. She is one of the most caring women here, but she takes her job very seriously. This eating lunch argument is almost an every day thing, as Ares stuffs me full of fruit and bread every morning before leaving for work. 

I know part of it is a distraction from not seeing my friend. Jessica has been just as good as I have, listening and staying put. Both her and I have earned gifts for our behavior, but they hang in the closet or sit in the jewelry box. The only time I've had to speak with her was the ten minute phone call Ares allowed when I threw a crying fit. 

We both are getting along, the ring glittering on my finger. I still believe is was this weird bond that got me to agree to him, maybe even the sex, but now in my right mind I can't believe I fucking said yes. 

"Fine! Fine! If you want me dead so be it!" She snaps her head to another staff member that pops her head into the room. I watch the quiet interaction between the two, the ladies whispering quietly to one another, "It seems you have a visitor Luna." 

"A who?" 

"Come now. Seem's it's someone important!" 

My first instinct yell's Jessica, that fat assed hoe that I wish to squeeze tightly between my arms and beg for forgiveness on getting us caught. Not that she's mad, but I still feel the need to apologize. 

The ladies lead me through the hallways stopping just at the front door, the younger lady turns to me with a large grin, "He is so excited to see you! Said that you were child hood friends." 

"Suzanne did you clear this with the Alpha?" 

"I figured one visitor that came all this way would be fine. And he said he's mated, so whats the big deal?" 

"You bought are out to get my head served on a silver platter." 

I walk through the two bickering idiots and tug on the handle. No one from my childhood comes to mind, but when I finally lay eyes on my child hood bestie I want to run for the hills. 

"Vee! You look so good!" James Volga stands across the doorway, a sinister grin meeting my dropping smile, "These ladies told me you were engaged. How fitting that you found such a great mate." 

"Yeah! Definitely. Thanks." I roll on my feet looking around trying to figure out where to stare at that isn't him.

"Mrs. Gray! You never told me you were friends with the Alpha of the southern region!"
