Have you ever heard people say, how waking up to a rainy day means it's a bad day? So, does that mean, during summer, everyone has a good day? And during the rainy season everyone has a bad day? Doesn't make sense right? Because it is senseless.
What kind of day we'll have is not decided by the weather, but us. If we decide to make it a good day, it's a good day, but if we decide its a bad day, it will be a bad day. So wake up with a shiny mind, and make your day good, don't blame the beautiful rain if your day goes bad. The rain is just doing its job, so you do yours.
It's Sunday morning, and Aayan and Ruhee have slept in after morning prayer. But their peaceful sleep was interrupted when a bold female voice boomed in the house, "Where is the newly wedded couple?" Ruhee woke up startled, and fell of the couch. Aayan got up startled aswell.
He saw Ruhee on the floor, rubbing her back and rushed to help her stand up. "What was that?" Ruhee asked, in a sleepy soft voice, rubbing her back. Aayan was still holding her arm, so she looked at it, then him, he quickly retreated it and scratched his head,"Uh..I... I'll go check." saying this, he walked out the door.
Whoever it was, Ruhee didn't wanna go before them in her pajamas. She quickly freshened up and changed into blue faded jeans, a floor length long yellow top with tribal embroidery, which had a slit from below her thigh to the end, and a not so bright, red hijab. She quickly went out the room and down the stairs.
Aayan's back was facing her, as he massaged his forehead, listening to someone. "Aayan?" she called out softly, and he looked back, bringing in view who he was talking to. A beautiful girl in her late twenties stood before her, with her arms on her hips.
Who is she? Was she yelling at Aayan?
The girl clapped her hands together, and excitement was clear on her face. She moved towards Ruhee, and instantly hugged her. Ruhee was surprised, she didn't know what to do, her hands were hanging in the air. The girl pulled back and held Ruhee's shoulders, "Mashallah Ammi, she is so pretty." the girl almost screeched.
"Let me see!" a voice said, and the girl was pushed to the side, and a lady now held Ruhee by her arms. She looked in her early forties, and she reminded Ruhee of someone, but she couldn't figure out who. The lady looked at a still surprised Ruhee, from head to toe, grinning. "Mashallah, she really is so beautiful. Sahma sure picked a pretty one." she said, smiling at Ruhee.
Someone held the lady by the shoulder and pulled her back a little, "Calm down Aapi, your scaring the girl." Came Sahma's delicate voice. Sahma looked at a still very startled Ruhee and smiled. "Sorry dear, my sister and niece got a bit too excited." and she glared at the girl who was standing beside the lady, sheepishly smiling. Ruhee just nodded, still in shock.

"Oh c'mon khala, my baby brother got married. I needed to see who was the girl who caught his eye." said the girl, wiggling her brows at Aayan. Aayan just groaned, massaging his temple. Ruhee looked at Aayan, or more like behind him, to find a bored Zubair and a man in his late forties, who was just shaking his head smiling.
Okay, what is going on here?
Ruhee came out for her trance and looked at everyone in the room. Sahma went to stand beside Ruhee, hugging her to her side and introduced everyone, "Ruhee, meet my sister Shifa..." she pointed at the lady, who smiled at Ruhee, ".... Her daughter Zainab,..." pointing at the girl, who waved at her,".... Her husband Faiz Mustafa..." she pointed at the man standing beside Zubair, "... And their son, Zubair. " Ruhee gasped. She had no idea Zubair and Aayan were cousins. Zubair just scratched the back of his neck. Ruhee regained her posture and greeted everyone, smiling.
Oh yes, she looks like Ammi.
"And this beautiful young lady, is my daughter-in-law." Sahma said smiling at Ruhee, who smiled back at her, and greeted everyone, smiling. "Nice to meet you all." Ruhee said. "Oh, the pleasure is all ours dear." Shifa, Sahma's sister said, smiling. Ruhee smiled back and asked, "Did you all have breakfast?"
It was 8:30am now. Since Aayan and Ruhee had slept in, they still needed to have breakfast. Zainab went to stand before Ruhee and said, "No." Ruhee smiled at her and looked around before saying, "Then I would love to prepare a big breakfast, for a big family. Please wait a few minutes."
Ruhee was about to walk into the kitchen when Zainab held her hand to stop her. Ruhee looked at a smiling Zainab, "Don't worry, we bought breakfast." And showed Ruhee big bags," We were so excited to meet you, we decided we'll spend our whole day here, with you..... "Aayan groaned and Zainab just scowled his way and continued,".... So we packed breakfast and came here as soon as possible. "Ruhee looked at Sahma, who just smiled at her. She looked back to Zainab and smiled,"Thank you. Then, I'll make lunch." "Well, my husband will be here at 11:00am with lunch, so it's okay." Ruhee just looked at her and smiled awkwardly, "Okay." came her meek voice.
"For now, let's just arrange the dinning table for breakfast." Zainab dragged Ruhee towards the table, Zubair carrying the breakfast, as Aayan went to his room to freshen up.
I can still make dinner.
For the first time, since Ruhee had come to this house, the dinning table looked lively. Everyone was talking around, even Aayan. She looked around to see smiling faces. Aayan had brought out two more chairs for the dining table, so everyone fit. She loved Aayan's family almost instantly. She smiled and replied to something Shifa had asked her.

After breakfast, Ruhee made everyone tea. Faiz took a sip of the tea, and his eyes widened. He looked towards Ruhee and said, "You really know how to make tea my child. This is really good." Ruhee smiled at him, with a small thank you. It was 10:30am now, and everyone were sitting in the living room chatting. Zainab got up, and went to the bags they bought, and pulled out some boxes. She placed the boxes on the teapoy and opened them to reveal snacks and sweets.
She picked up a laddoo and moved it to Ruhee's mouth, "Open up sister-in-law." Ruhee smiled at her and opened her mouth, to have the entire laddoo shoved inside. Ruhee's mouth was full, but she somehow chewed it down, and smiled at Zainab. Another sweet was placed before her, Khaja, this time by Shifa, and she ate it. Just like that, Shifa and Zainab kept on feeding Ruhee sweets and Savouries, and Ruhee ate them, politely.
The door bell rang. Aayan went to open it and came back carrying two bags, and placed them in the kitchen. A man in his early thirties, walked in, holding another bag and placed it in the kitchen. When he came to the living room, Zainab rushed to hug him, he hugged her back aswell. She pulled him to Ruhee, and she got up, "Ruhee, this is Saif Baig, my husband." Zainab said, introducing them.
Saif greeted Ruhee and she greeted him back. They sat back down and continued talking. Sometime in the middle, Ruhee felt uneasy, so she excused herself and went up to her room. She quickly took out her insulin pen, and took a shot. This caused her to relax.
They fed me too much sweets. I didn't wanna be rude and deny them. They had made and bought it just for me, how could I have said no.
Ruhee signed, placed her medicine in the pouch and went back down. Soon, it was 2pm, and everyone decided to have lunch. All eight, settled at the dining table and began eating. Zainab and Shifa, kept on filling Ruhee's plate, with one thing or another, Ruhee just ate everything, gratefully. Lunch was done and everyone was settled in the living room, except for Ruhee, as she was making tea in the kitchen. Zainab volunteered to help, bu Ruhee pushed her out the kitchen.
I think I ate too much.
Ruhee was feeling uneasy, rubbing her tummy. "You okay?" she looked up to find Aayan looking at her, with a concerned expression. She smiled at him and said, "Yeah. I'm fine. I just had too much I guess." she looked back at the boiling tea. "If you can't eat, just tell them." she looked at Aayan and replied, "But they had bought the food with so much love and care, especially for me, how can I deny it." she said with a pout. Aayan's eyes shifted to her pouty lips, then back to her eyes. "Okay, just be careful not spoil your health." saying this Aayan back to the living room. Ruhee just smiled.
Ruhee had served everyone tea and settled down, when she noticed more sweets and savouries on the teapoy. Her eyes widened, when Zainab and Shifa, each picked up a box and sat beside Ruhee, starting to feed her.
Oh God!
After sometime, the bell rang, Zubair and Saif went to receive it and came back with bags. "Dinner is here." Zubair said showing the bags and went to place it in the kitchen with Saif. "Who ordered dinner?" Ruhee asked no one in particular. "I did." Saif replied, settling down, "But I wanted to make dinner." Ruhee said, a bit sad. Shifa placed a hand on her shoulder and said, "We wanted to Welcome you into our family, and this is how we do it." "And besides, we are gonna visit you often, then you can cook and feed us all you want. We have heard you are an amazing cook" Zainab added, smiling at her. Ruhee smiled back.
God! They don't even know I'll be gone after 2 more months.
Ruhee felt sad at that though but agreed. Soon dinner time arrived. They sat down to have their dinner, and Ruhee's plate kept on refilling itself, due to Shifa And Zainab. Ruhee just smiled and downed everything. After tea and some more eating, they were leaving. Faiz, Zubair and Saif just thanked Ruhee, while Shifa and Zainab hugged her. They promised to be back and eat her food and left.
Sahma said her good night's and went to bed, as Ruhee and Aayan went up to their room. They changed into the night wear and were settling in bed. "Your khala's family is amazing. " Ruhee said to Aayan. He looked at her and said, "Yeah but Zainab can be really bossy and annoying at times. You know how Zubair is already." He said with a scowl. Ruhee just giggled at him.
Yet, I could see your eyes shine when they were here.
"I can't wait to meet your fathers side of the family." Ruhee said and looked at Aayan, who had a motionless expression. "My father doesn't have any siblings and my grandparents passed away before I was born." he said. "Oh." was all Ruhee could reply.
I learn something new about him everyday.
And they went to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Ruhee got up sweating and Uneasy. She was feeling incredibly nauseas. She patted her chest to ease the uneasiness. But soon ran into the bathroom.
Oh God! This is not good!
