《Unveiling the Arcane》Caden

My brother and I sat at our normal table while Sage worked. That guy was with her tonight. I hated that guy. He kept casually touching what was mine. Sage didn't even seem to notice when he put his hand on her shoulder as he reached past her for something or when he put his palm on the small of her back instead of just saying excuse me like a normal person who understands physical boundaries. What could I really expect from a dog? At least he wasn't pissing on her leg to mark his territory. When he touched her again a low growl escaped my lips. Aiden glanced towards me as did the mutt. His brows furrowed and his lip slightly curled in response.
"You can't own a person," Aiden states mildly as he seemed to do as of late.
"The fuck I can't. She's ours. Maybe Maddox should come down here. I'm sure he would love to rip the mutt apart for touching the female he just scented." I growl.
"He's sick. Besides she's not even sexually attracted to the dog. He has no chance." Aiden reasoned.
The response did make me feel better. I knew the dog could probably hear us from where they stood but I didn't care. It wasn't any sort of speciesism. I didn't hate wolf shifters. I just hate people who put their hands on what is mine. With my sin being greed, I wasn't the best at sharing or being anything but possessive of what belonged to me. When the line ended Sage came out from behind the counter to clean off the tables that had been abandoned. I stood without saying a word to my brother and approached her. She looked up with a smile on her face. "Hey, Caden. Steal anything good today?"

I instantly relaxed just having her talk to me was enough to calm my anger. "Two watches, a crystal cup, and Dante's wallet." I pulled it from my pocket to show off my prize.
She rolled her eyes at me, "He's not going to be happy when he finds out." She put her hands on her hips before she went back to wiping the table.
"I know, can you bring it with you after work? I know you're going to see Maddox." I pouted and followed her to the next table.
She quirked a brow and studied me. "You're too scared, aren't you?"
I pursed my lips and blew a raspberry at the thought. "Mr. Fluffy butt doesn't scare me." I stood taller with my falsely perceived bravado.
She studied me then held her hand out. "Fine, but I'm telling him you called him that."
I placed the wallet in her palm. "What do I have to do to convince you not to do that?"
She smirked and it wasn't a sweet smile. "How would you like to get another look at my underwear?" She asked.
"Depends on if you will be wearing them this time." I pursed my lips ready to take my blackmail deal no matter what even if I had to do her laundry for a year.
"No. But someone will be." Her smirk became even more devilish.
"What?" I furrowed my brows now confused.
"You'll see. Saturday, be in my room at 3." She instructed.
"AM?"
"No. I'm not crazy. We're meeting up with the guys at four so an hour should be enough time."
"For what?"
"You'll see."
I studied her but she gave nothing away. She was up to something, and I didn't think it would be anything I would enjoy. Reluctantly I agreed. "Fine. I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow morning. But before I go..." I gripped her shoulders before leaning in and rubbing my cheeks on hers before nuzzling into her neck.

"I would prefer not to have Maddox's instincts go haywire if I touch you in front of him." I kissed her on the cheek looking over her shoulder to give the dog a dirty look as I did so.
Sage smiled up at me when I pulled back and I could see the heat in her eyes. Maybe my brother was onto something. She never looked like that at the dog. "See you later." She said as I walked away.

The God Complex
Alon wishes to be remembered—to stamp his existence on this cruel world, to engrave the fact that "he was here" into the very Earth. This is his sole purpose; To be important. For what greater reason is there to exist if not to be remembered? People are special. People aren’t... Your actions in this life define how those left behind remember you. Once you die, you’re reborn and live on, if only for a time; The grander the actions in this life, the longer your second one becomes. Alon knows this better than anyone, and he will live in the minds and hearts of everyone in Krestelen longer than anyone that has come before. Krestelen is a place long forgotten by those outside its walls; known by most as the Cursed City of The Dead, with the Lower Tier of the City being abandoned by the Upper Tiers after an inexplicable Fog blanketed the entire sector thirty-four years ago. This Fog adds those unfortunate enough to be caught within it into the legions of Vacant roaming the empty streets of the city: A creature that has seemingly lost all reasoning and sanity, to wander around the streets crying into the palms of their hands as they beg for help, to be freed from their condition. This is the place that Alon, and the Gang led by his mentor Casian, shall steal the very source of what gives those in power—the rightfully ruling family, the Deramore's—their ability to live in luxury as those below in the Lower Tier struggles to survive. They will forever be cast into the annals of the history of this cursed place—for better, or for worse.
