Chapter 39:
Arabelle's POV.
After I slipped my jeans on Ivy and I walked out into the kitchen, where Jake, Mikey, and Corey were.
Mikey was sitting on the counter, Jake was sprawled out on the floor, and Corey was standing, humming something.
Mikey spoke; "You know what we should do, man?"
"What?" Jake asked, laughing slightly.
"We should like, build a time machine and like, go back in time...yeah, that would be awesome."
Corey hugged the fridge. "So soft..."
Jake laughed at him. "Man, you are so high."
"That's what she said." Corey replied.
Ivy and I glanced at each other.
"What the hell?" She said.
Mikey looked over at us. "Hi there peoples! You wanna travel back in time with me?"
Ivy looked at him. "Did you smoke weed again?"
He chuckled. "Yeah,"
Corey collapsed back onto the floor, muttering something under his breath.
I grinned.
This was quite a sight.
"Oh my god!" Corey exclaimed.
"What?" Mikey hissed, looking extremely serious.
"Butterflies!" Corey said, putting his hands in the air as if trying to catch something.
I laughed softly.
"Hey, Corey, your fiancée's in the room." Mikey announced.
Corey looked over at me; he got up and came over to me.
"Hi," he grinned.
"Hey," I replied.
"Hi," He repeated.
"Hi," I responded.
"Hi,"
I laughed.
"You have a pretty laugh." He said.
I laughed again.
"Corey, could you please put a shirt on?" Ivy asked.
"You put a shirt on!" He replied, pointing at her.
"I have a shirt on."
"Well put it back on."
"What?" She asked, looking confused.
"What?" He questioned, leaning towards her. "I can't hear you; you'll have to speak into the microphone."
She shook her head. "Go catch more butterflies."
"You're not the boss of me." He replied, tilting his head up, looking very arrogant.
"Oh!" Mikey said.
Corey turned. "What?!" he said over-dramatically.

"Let's play rock band!"
Oh god.
I'm now regretting showing that game too Corey.
"Yes! I call guitar!" Corey said.
So we ended up in the living room, Ivy and I sat on the couch watching the three rock out with fake instruments.
Jake was on drums, but he kept dropping the drumsticks, Mikey was singing and Corey was playing guitar.
I had to say, it was very entertaining.
Corey had only agreed to play it one time at the house with me and Drake, he played guitar like now but he looked a lot less bored now.
He was on his knees, sunglasses still intact, completely into it.
You would think he was playing a real guitar.
He jumped around very frequently but got down on his knees for the solos, extending the guitar into the air.
After the song finished, he collapsed onto the floor, out of breath.
"Okay now...it's time...for Green Day: Rock Band." Mikey said.
Corey looked over at him. "What's that?"
"A whole entire rock band filled with Green Day."
"What are you waiting for? Put it in!"
Mikey obeyed, rummaging through the games till he found it.
"I get to sing this time!" Corey exclaimed, standing up. "I wanna be Billie Joe Armstrong."
Mikey handed him the mic and took the guitar.
The first song they played was 'She'.
Corey jumped around, while he sang along.
He was a really good singer, I especially liked when the songs had like a scream in them or something along those lines.
It was really sexy when he did that.
Their parents walked in while they were in the middle of 'Horseshoes and hand grenades' just as Corey was doing the screaming part.
They stood there in shock for a few moments before looking at each other and smiling.
"Their high...and possibly drunk." Ivy said loudly, over the music and Corey.
John laughed. "Well it seems their back to normal."
Julia said something to John and they walked into the kitchen.

Ivy looked at me. "When they're done being high, I'm so going to make fun of Corey."
I nodded. "Agreed."
She high-fived me.
Right before the song was over they failed, because of Jake.
"Aw, man!" Corey whined. "Way to go, Jake."
"It was hard!" Jake replied, defensively.
"Duh!" Corey said. "You're playing it on hard!"
Jake threw a drumstick at him.
Corey rubbed his forehead where the drumstick had hit him. "I quit! I can't work under these circumstances!"
He threw down the mic.
I laughed.
"Great job, Jake." Mikey said.
Corey walked out of the room.
He came back in a moment later and grabbed my hand, dragging me out of the room with him.
He wrapped his arm around my waist as we walked down the hall. "So how ya doing, Babydoll?"
I breathed a laugh. "Fine, what about you?"
"I'm all sweaty, but besides that I'm good."
We went to his room.
He put in a CD; Def Leppard.
He went to the door across the room that was closed.
He opened the door and flicked on the light, to reveal a bathroom.
It was kinda small, with a shower on the east wall, and a sink across from it that two mirrors hanging side by side.
One of the mirrors was broke but the other was still intact.
"What happened to the mirror?" I asked, as Corey stood in front of the good one, messing up his hair and making weird faces.
"I broke it." He replied.
He took off his sunglasses, inspecting his reflection. "I need eyeliner." He said with a smile.
"Oh dear god." I uttered.
He walked out of the bathroom and yelled out the door for Ivy.
"What?!" she asked, walking into the room.
"I need eyeliner." Corey stated.
"Why?"
"Just go get it." He said, pushing her out of the room.
She returned a moment later with it in her hand.
He grabbed it from her. "Thank you!"
He ran into the bathroom and started applying the eyeliner.
"What is he doing?" Ivy asked me.
"I really don't know."
She shook her head. "I'll see you later."
She walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.
I walked up to the bathroom doorway and Corey was playing air guitar to the song.
He stopped when he saw me. "What do you think?" He asked, gesturing to his eyes that were rimmed thickly with black.
"Very nice," I praised.
He smiled. "I think so too."
He walked out into the room and jumped onto the bed and once again started playing air guitar.
I watched with amusement.
I pulled out my cell phone and took a picture of him, setting it as my background on the phone.
"Now I'll actually wanna look at my phone." I mumbled to myself.
He sat down on the bed, breathing heavy.
His eyes started to close and he fell back against the bed.
I walked up to him; he was passed out asleep.
I laughed under my breath.
What a day.
A/N: Okay so we need to discuss a few things...one: what do you think of the story? I want your opinions. Do you think it should have a happy ending or a sad ending? Do you like where I've taken the story or did you like the way it was in the beginning OR is there something you'd like to happen?
I want everyone to comment and give their opinions!! The reason I'm asking this is 'cause I've been toying around with the idea to re-write this story so I finally decided to give it a go and I'm currently re-working the first few chapters as we speak. I'm still not sure if I'm just gonna go through and tweak it a bit or if I'm gonna re-write it...I'm leaning more towards the re-write. So, I was thinking I would post up the first chapter on here so everyone can give me their thoughts on it. Anyways, sorry for this long note. Comment!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, you awesome peoples!

The Simulacrum
"He who fights with harem tropes should see to it that he himself does not become a harem protagonist. And if you gaze for long into a narrative, the narrative gazes also into you." --- Friedrich Nietzsche (probably?) How would you react if one day you woke up inside an environment running on tropes and clichés? For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this question became quite relevant when one day he woke up in a pristine city on a strange island in the middle of the Atlantic, without any memories, surrounded by classmates who are barely more than characterless placeholders, and with a classic indecisive harem protagonist and his impossibly beautiful love interests for friends. That would be hard to deal with already, yet his investigation into the tropes governing the world, trying to avoid harem shenanigans, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes ends up dragging him into the center of the action anyway. Disclaimer: This is a tongue-in-cheek, slice of life romantic comedy, with occasional sprinkles of combat and mystery to spice things up. Please do not expect a straight up deconstruction beyond some in-universe meta-commentary by the characters.
