《The Babysitter✔️》Chapter||6

School went by really fast.
I walked past Jace in the hallway once, but he pretended not to see me.
"So Lexi," One of my best friends, Lily said, "You're babysitting that fucker Jace Johnson." She had a colorful mouth.
"Yeah, but I don't think he'd appreciate people thinking I was babysitting him." I replied.
"Well shit." She said.
"Yep."
We looked at each other and burst into laughter.
"So, how's saving for Europe going?" She asked me.
"By the time the year is over, I'll be well off for Europe." I said with a smile.
We both looked at each other and then in unison, "Ohhh yeah." We bumped fists.
"Hey girls!" Sebastian said cheerfully, "I bring enchiladas." He placed a plate of enchiladas on the table.
"Yas!" Lily shouted, and we both grabbed an enchilada.
...
I told Cal that I would meet him outside the library at 3:15. I made my way there and saw him sitting on a bench next to Lacy. Cal looked really nervous, and he leaned in and Kissed her on the cheek.
Awwwwwww
They're so cute!
My heart exploded a little, and I would have left them alone, but we were running late to go get Hallie from kindergarten. I made my way over to them.
"Cal, are you ready?" I asked, he hugged Lacy goodbye and walked over to me. We walked to the car in silence and when we finally pulled out, I glanced at him. "Why are you smiling so much?" I asked with a smirk.
Cal's cheeks immediately turned red "oh no... Did you... See that?" He asked nervously.
"Yeah, I saw," I said.
"Please.... Don't tell Jace," he said nervously.
"I won't, but why?" I asked
"Well... It's just that Jace is really good with girls and it's hard to have a brother like him somethings," he said glumly "because most of the time the girls who show interest in me only want Jace's number, or they want to go to Jace's house. Then Jace started teasing me about how I'd never be able to get a real girl with him around, and I don't want him to go after Lacy to prove it." Cal said.

I couldn't believe that Jace would say something like that. Well, he was Jace Johnson, so I guess it was reasonable, but to his own brother? I was going to kill him.
We pulled up to Hallie's kindergarten Cal went in to get her. She had been at the aftercare program, and I felt kind of bad that we left her there so long.
"Guys! We're going to Starbucks!" I said. Cal seemed indifferent to it, but Hallie cheered.
At Starbucks, I ordered two unicorn frappucinos for Hallie and myself, and Cal got a lemonade because it was "healthier" for lacrosse.
The Johnson boys and their diets.
I guess they had to keep in shape for spring soccer and lacrosse.
After we went to Starbucks, I drove to the field where Hallie would be practicing. Apparently, she was on a co-ed team, and they were not very good according to Cal.
Suddenly my phone began ringing. "Ah AH ah I'm a mother-" it said, by I answered before the next word played. Note to self: Change ringtone from Starboy.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Where's Hallie? You dropped her off right? Why isnt she at pre-school? Lexi, I think someone kidnapped her!" Explained a very frantic Jace from the other end of the line.
"Jace, calm down. She's in the car with Cal and me. We're bringing her to soccer." I said.
"Oh." He said, and then he hung up.
"Why is he so angry?" I asked rhetorically to myself. I got my answer from Hallie however.
"Jace usually takes me to practice. He likes coaching me on Wednesdays and Fridays when he doesn't have practice. He also likes to watch practice." Hallie piped up.
"Oh." I said enlightened, but inside I was thinking 'Awww.' That's so sweet! How could he be so nice to his sister, but so awful to his brother... Could Jace Johnson have a soft side?
We had finally made it to Hallie's practice, and we rushed out of the car. Hallie ran over to her teammates and coach while Cal and I walked over to the bleachers. We sat down and started watching. It turns out Cal was right... They're not very good.

Cal and I were busy trying to hide our giggles as we watched some of the dumb mistakes the kids were making when someone sat down next to me in the bleachers.
I looked next to me and there was Jace.
"Hey," I greeted, but he didn't answer.
Throughout the practice, he said nothing to Cal and I. The only words that came out of his mouth were the occasional cheering for Hallie.
When Hallie was done with her practice, Jace waited for her to come over to us, then he bent down and told her she did a good job, and then he left.
I dropped Hallie and Cal off at their house and ran to pack a bag for the rest of the week. Hopefully nothing bad would happen. I'd left Cal in charge because Jace was nowhere to be seen.
As I hastily shoved clothes into my bag, I sensed a presence behind me.
"Hey." Tyler spoke when I turned around.
"Hey." I replied warily.
"Where are you going?" He asked with a slight edge to his voice.
"The Johnson's house." I replied without thinking. Tyler's face clouded over and his eyes darkened with rage. "No, Ty, it's not what you think. I have to get up super early if I want to be there to drop Hallie off."
"I don't want you staying in the same house as Jace Johnson." Tyler said fuming.
"I don't think that's a problem, because he isn't even home, and I have no clue when or if he will be." I replied.
Tyler punched my wall.
"Seriously Ty Ty? Again?" I asked. I made a mental note to tell my dad my wall needed fixing.
"He's such a bastard! He leads girls on and then throws them away like shit!" Tyler complained.
"You can't be talking mister," I scolded, "you used to do the same thing.
It was true. Tyler used to be a player too, but then I stopped talking to him, because he kept breaking girls hearts.
"Plus, you're just jealous because he's more attractive than you." I said. If I was being honest, it was only true because Tyler was my brother. Girls told me how attractive Tyler was all the time. They even tried to befriend me to get to him.
That's why I was only really friends with Lily and Sebastian.
"Take it back." Tyler warned. His voice was dangerously low. I shook my head and stuck my tongue out at him.
He tackled me onto my bed and began to tickle me.
"Tyler stop!" I shouted through my laughter.
"Take it back!" He repeated, but he was laughing too.
"Fine! Fine!" I said, and he stopped. "I have the prettiest brother in all of Alabama."
Tyler glared at me.
"Fine, the handsomest." I corrected.
"Handsomest what?" He asked.
"Really?" I asked him. He just stared at me, "I, Alexis West, have the most handsome brother in the state of Alabama, and his name is Kade West." I said referencing our older brother.
"Lexi!" He whined.
"I'll be safe and sensible I promise. And if something goes wrong I'll lock myself in the bathroom and call you." I assured.
"Fine." He replied, "Don't stay up too late." He warned and gave me a quick hug.
I packed up the rest of my bag and drove back to the Johnson house. Jace still wasn't home.
Surprise. Surprise.

The Hazards of Skinny Dipping
This isn't a deep book about first loves or self-discovery. If you want a book like that, I'd be happy to recommend one, but I don't have that kind of story to tell. Instead my story is about rash decisions and finding out that your dream guy is bad in bed. It's the story of when I finally went skinny dipping, and how my life was never the same again. Oh, and it's also the story of my freshman year of college and realizing Mr. Right might have been there all along.
