《The Babysitter✔️》Chapter||18

After dinner, Cal and I did the dishes.
We all watched a movie and then went to bed.
Cal slept on the living room couch, Tyler and Hallie slept on bunkbeds, and then Jace slept on a futon couch in my room.
...
The next morning, we all went to the dock.
We decided that were going to stick with Jace and Tyler's plan to ride the jet skis to the big rock across the lake.
"Can I ride with you Tyler?" Cal asked hopefully.
"Sure," Tyler said with a glimmer in his eye. Tyler always wanted a little brother.
"Can I ride with you too?" Hallie asked with puppy dog eyes, so he couldn't refuse.
"Of course kiddo," Tyler said and picked her up.
"I guess that means you and I are riding together," Jace said with a smirk.
"I guess so," I sighed as Jace got on the jet ski and held out a hand. I took it and hopped on behind him.
He started the engine and we rode over to the rock with Tyler and the kids close behind.
A little bit away from the rock, there was a patch of land with sand on it that looked like a beach. We parked the jet skis and everyone got off of them. "You ready West?" Jace asked Tyler.
"You bet," Tyler smirked, "Are you coming Cal?"
"Uhh...." Cal stuttered and looked between Jace and Tyler, "Yeah sure."
The three boys took off their shirts and climbed up the the cliff, luckily there was a rope already there from people climbing up in the past. Jace was the first one to the top, then Tyler, and then Cal.
Jace flipped his hair and then looked down at Hal and me and pointed, "This ones for you, Lex," Jace exclaimed and smirked at Tyler before diving off of the cliff.
When he resurfaced, he he took a huge breath and let out a "wooohooo."
Then he swam to the shore, Tyler was about to jump in, but Jace called his name. When Tyler looked down, Jace placed a big wet kiss on my cheek.
"I'm gonna kill you Johnson," Tyler yelled as he jumped in the water.
"Gotta run," Jace said and scurried up the cliff to avoid Tyler.

"Lex?" Hallie squealed, "Jace just kissed you!"
"Don't be silly Hal," I smiled, "I didn't mean anything."
"Yeah it did! You and Jace are going to get married!" Hallie exclaimed.
"Noooo we aren't," I said with a laugh as Tyler ran past me and up the the rock to try and catch Jace
"That's what I like to hear," he said and kept running.
Jace jumped off the cliff too early, and instead of jumping after him, Tyler ran back down towards the shore to get him.
Jace ran out of the water and grabbed my arm, pulling me in front of him.
"Jace!" I shouted.
"Sorry Lexi." Jace laughed.
Tyler looked at me seriously with a slight hint of humor, "Lexi, move."
"Ok." I said smirking and moved to the side as Tyler lunged at Jace, tackling him to the ground. Jace groaned underneath Tyler's weight as Tyler shoved his face into the sand. I looked up and saw Cal standing at the top of the cliff looking down nervously at the water.
"Lexi, I think I'm gonna just head down!" He called.
Tyler popped his head up at this, "Nah little man, you gotta jump off."
"I can't." Cal replied.
"Why not?" Tyler asked.
"It's too tall." Cal murmured.
Jace lay on the ground groaning after whatever Tyler did.
"Ok there, Jace?" I asked smiling slightly. Hallie bent down and started shaking Jace's arm.
"Lexi, your brother weighs like 500 pounds." He whined, and held his hand out for me to take.
I grabbed his hand and tried to pull him up. It turned out he wanted to pull me down on top of him. I quickly rolled off of him and muttered, "Jace you ass."
"Sexy ass." He corrected cockily.
"Not denying anything" I said jokingly while laughing.
"Hey you two! No funny business." Tyler yelled as he held Cal's hand and they jumped in together.
Jace and I laughed, and he dragged me and Hallie towards the water.
We splashed and played together throughout the day, and I swore heard Tyler muttering something about "Being sorry" to Jace.
As I looked around at Jace, my brother, Hallie, and Cal, I felt the thought slip into my mind that one day we could actually all be a family... If Jace and I...

I couldn't help but smile and giggle.
"What's so funny?" Jace asked with a smile.
I shook my head at him before jumping into his arms. And he caught me like I knew he always would. I buried my head into his shoulder as he swam through the water.
"Johnson!" Tyler shouted lividly "Just because I gave you my blessing doesn't mean you can have sex with her. Goodness, there are children around." He exclaimed dramatically while covering Hallie's eyes.
"Tyler!" I squeaked.
"We weren't- we just- we-" Jace mumbled.
"Sure Johnson, save your boy hormones for later.... preferably when I'm not near you.... or alive." Tyler said shuddering.
"Tyyyyyy" I groaned.
"Lexxxx" He replied.
Next thing I knew, I was refreshed with the feeling of the icy water all throughout my body as Jace dropped me in the water.
I swam back up to the surface. "Jace you ass!" I screamed as he stared at me laughing.
I began laughing too, I couldn't help it. He was just too perfect.
...
We sat around the fire, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
"I love it out here!"Hallie yelled into the dark.
"I don't know, it's kinda dark."Tyler said shuddering.
"Don't be a pussy." Hallie chided.
"Hallie!" I screeched, "Don't say that!"
"Why? I heard Jace say it." She said innocently.
"Jace!" I shouted.
"Sorry babe," He said, still relaxed on the little bench we were on. He had his arm strategically thrown around the back of the bench so that I leant into him.
I shook my head at him. Boys.
"Tyler I'm tired, take me to bed!" Hallie said, outstretching her arms towards my brother.
Tyler complied, picking her up and carrying her inside, and then there were three.
"Night guys." Cal said and practically ran inside.
I leaned my body back into Jace, and he rubbed his thumb along my shoulder. We stared at the fire together for a while, until I glanced at my phone.
"Wow, it is getting late." I said.
Jace and I got up, putting the fire out by spreading out the logs.
I turned to walk towards the cabin, but Jace grabbed my arm and stopped me. "Wait, Lex," he whispered, taking me off guard.
"What?" I asked alarmed.
"Look up," He he said and pointed at the sky.
"What? Why are we looking at..." I started, but was cut off.
"Shhh, just look."
I looked up again and noticed thousands of stars that sparkled bright in the sky.
"Aren't they beautiful?" He whispered lowly and then looked at me.
"Yeah," I whispered back.
It was then when Jace laid on the ground and motioned for me to do the same.
I sighed, but complied to his wishes.
We both lay there, side by side, when he reached out and grabbed my hand.
After sitting in silence for a few more minutes, I finally had it. I jolted up, "Jace?"
"Yeah..." He asked.
"Kiss me," I said and practically jumped on his lap. He was caught off guard, but quickly recovered. As our lips moved in sync, I swore that I heard him mutter the word "Finally." I reached out and ran my hand through his hair. His hands grazed my back, but soon stopped as they moved to my shoulders and slightly pushed me away.
"What?" I asked trying to hide my scowl.
Jace chuckled at my hostility, "My, my, Alexis, you've never thrown yourself at me like that before."
"Excuse me," I asked in awe.
"No, don't get me wrong... Its cute... and kind of a turn on," He said full on smirking.
"Thats it, I'm going inside," I said with pursed lips as I stood up, and got off of him.
"No Lex, babe, I'm sorry I didn't mean it," He said laughing as he sprung up to catch up with me.
He grabbed my arm and pulled me into an embrace. Jace put his hands to my face and tilted it upwards to look at him. He leaned in and gingerly kissed my lips. I let my eyes close as I kissed him back and lost myself in him. I sighed into the kiss and felt Jace's lips curve up into a smile.
When Jace pulled away, I looked up at him with a dazed look.
He let out a laugh and pressed his lips to mine again.
He was better than fireworks and butterflies. He was Jace Johnson, and in that moment I knew that I loved him.

Love Of Baybur [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
The Sultanate won a huge battle against their enemies of different religion, and now left them with only a piece of land surrounded by Sultanate's forces. Baybur, a yerliyya from a backwater place, is hailed as a hero after the war for his past contributions in a strange manner and is, thus, invited to a banquet prepared by the Sultan and attended by many Great Nobles. To Baybur, who had dreams of stepping on a higher stage in Sultanate's politics, and in his Orta's ranks, this is a chance for him to shine and rise. Yet he, and many in the banquet, knows that victory is far from over. And this presents a chance, with greater risk than before, to impress the Sultan and the Pashas of the Sultanate. Sanjak-beys and Aghas of the Janissary Corps all seek to devour their enemies, both in and out of the Sultanate. And Baybur, in the midst of this brewing storm, is no different from a fish dreaming to be a dragon. But a woman he meets at the banquet changes everything; his goals, his dreams, and his fate. After all, love, without expression, is a deadly curse. As a note, Cover is not mine obviosuly, and I write this both for NaNoWriMo and Writathon. To some history lovers and nerds who specialize in it, I know you might be angered quite a deal with some things I've written.(I get the feeling when someone talks wrong foolish things in a study I know, no hate) But this is a historical fiction written by a seventeen-year-old, don't expect much from me to know every single detail. Much of my research is surface level and some things are, well, to fit plot, are changed. So bear that in mind. For schedule/chapter thingt, there will be at most five chapters until I pass the 55.555 words mark. Each chapter will be around or above 10k+ words. It is also not edited, and probably won't be unless I find a great deal of time in my hands after November to see what I lack in where. That's all. Now go read, or leap to another fiction. Enjoy!
