《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 10: From bad to worse.

I looked at my appearance in the mirror for the fifth time since I dressed up. I was wearing a short black baby doll dress with black heels and I curled my hair. I thought I looked great but great wasn't enough. Sexy was the word I was looking for.
"Emily, are you done yet? That boy is pissing off our neighbors outside!" Screamed my aunt from the other side of my bedroom door.
"What boy?" I furrowed my brows.
She opened my door and stepped inside, walking over to my window and pointing outside, "That boy."
I quickly rushed to the window and looked outside, Adrian was parked on the street, he was leaning against his car and honking the hooter like a crazy person.
Probably acting out on what happened the previous night.
I shut my eyes and heaved a sigh.
"Is he the one you're using to get revenge on the other one?" Asked Aunt Linda.
I told her about the whole Charlie situation since she was cool and I really needed someone else's opinion. She thought it was great that I was experiencing the full 'highschool magic' but I thought she didn't have an educational parental advise to give me.
"Ironically, yes he is." I nodded.
"He totally looks like someone you're gonna end up falling for." She said.
That statement made me widen my eyes at her, "No, oh God no, he's not my type and I am definitely not his."
"Sweetie, there's no such thing as 'my type' love just comes when you least expect it." She played with my bangs.
"C'mon Aunt Linda, Adrian and I are just too different from each other." I told her.
"And they say opposites attract." She kept on insisting.
I didn't respond to that, I just looked out my window and stared at Adrian from a far.
I didn't even wanna picture falling for him. Yes, he was pretty handsome and he was a good kisser but once upon a time, he and I used to be total strangers and it would just be too weird for both of us.
Even though kissing him wasn't weird at all. It was nice, it was very nice.
"If you thought being in a relationship with the one from yesterday was a lot, you should really avoid getting in one with that guy out there." She said, looking out the window.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I was held aback by her words.
"It means, shit's gonna go from bad to worse." She said.
I laughed, she thought Adrian was more toxic than Charlie. That sounded really ironic to me.
"Laugh while you can." She patted my shoulder and left my room.
Adrian honked his car louder, I groaned irritatedly as I picked up my purse from the bed and exit my room. Trudging down the stairs and kissing my Aunt goodbye. I went out the front door and saw Adrian texting on his phone, I walked towards him but he didn't look up. He was wearing a white button down long sleeved shirt, black trousers and vans shoes. He wasn't wearing a neck tie or a jacket.
I guess he meant it when he specifically said; I don't do suits.
"Hello." I waved my hand in front of him.
"What took you so long?" He asked, his eyes still glued to the screen.
"My hair and makeup." I answered honestly, he diverted his eyes from the phone to look at me from head to toe.

"Damn, she actually dressed up." He looked impressed, I smiled.
"She's going to a rich kid's party so of course she actually dressed up." I spoke in third person tone.
"Okay." He opened the passenger side door for me, I raised my eyebrows at him. "Don't make me regret it." He warned, I kept my mouth shut while I accepted his sweet gesture and sat on the passenger seat.
He closed the door and went around the car, getting on the driver's side. He brought the car engine to life and we started off.
He got a cigarette from his pocket and placed it between his lips, after finding a lighter, he lit the cigarette and released a puff of smoke.
During that moment, I wondered what caused him to start smoking, I know I started smoking weed because Charlie and his friends influenced me.
"Want some?" He offered the cigarette to me when he caught me staring at him. I nodded no.
"Then quit staring at me like you want something." He took it back to his lips.
"That sounded so wrong." I giggled.
"That's because you have a dirty mind and you just can't help it." He glanced at me then back at the road.
"I don't have a dirty mind." I defended myself.
"Of course you don't." He said sarcastically.
I was expecting him to say something about the phone call he gave me the previous night, I expected him to ask about why Charlie was in my house with my phone. But he didn't so it was up to me to say something.
"Adrian, about last night, I'm sorry. I didn't know that he was going to show up cause he did just show up and then you called and he snatched my phone-"
"Wait, what happened last night and who showed up?" He sounded confused.
"Charlie, you know, he hung up on you and stuff." I bit on my thumb nail, a nervous reaction of mine.
"Why are you explaining yourself to me? What you do with Charlie or any other guy is definitely not my business but if you do decide to get back with him, please let me know so I could save myself the embarrassment by breaking up with you first." He said in serious tone.
I felt like an idiot, why did I explain myself to him in the first place.
"I'm not going to get back with him." I tried to defend myself.... Again.
"Keep telling yourself that." He kept his eyes on the road and his cigarette between his teeth.
The rest of the ride went in complete silence.
I knew that we were there when we started passing by these big ass mansions that I never knew existed in our town, when we arrived at Jared's house, there was a long line of luxurious cars parked on the property. Looking at the house_i gasped. Adrian the eye roller did infact roll his eyes at my shocked expression but I did not mind him, I was too busy admiring at what looked like a castle.
Jared's house was infact a castle, it stood out in his neighborhood with it having a fountain, a garden, a long yard, and fruit trees.
"Are you sure Jared lives here?" I asked Adrian while I still admired the house.
Jared looked simple, the only thing that told his rich kid story was his Porsche.
"Stop asking stupid questions, let's go in already." He sounded annoyed as he unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car then shut the door.

I raised my middle finger at him just because he couldn't see me, getting out of the car I ran my hands on the material of my dress before walking an inch behind Adrian towards the front door.
At first I thought the party was for every age but I discovered that only people our age were going inside.
A few of them greeted Adrian which was a surprise to me.
We walked through the tall wooden doors and met with jazz music, there were voices of people chit chatting, clicking their champagne glasses, laughing and eating.
This is what rich kids call a teen birthday party? I asked myself.
I bit my lower lip and tried not to laugh.
"What the actual fuck." I heard Adrian chuckle beside me, I couldn't hold it in anymore, I bursted out laughing.
A couple of heads turned to look at me questionably. Adrian covered my mouth with the palm of his hand.
"Sorry." He apologized on my behalf. Grabbing my hand and dragging me to a table filled with pink-ish looking drinks in little shot cups.
He retrieved his hand and glared at me.
"What? It was your fault I laughed." I picked one of the cups and had a shot. My taste buds twinkled. The drink tasted like the color pink itself. "Wow." I picked up another and another one and another and anothe-
"Hey." Adrian gripped my hand to stop me, "Slow down." He took the cup from my hand and put it back on the table.
"AD, you have to try one." I picked it up again and extended my hand to him. He looked at the hand.
"First of all, never call me AD ever again and secondly, I don't drink." He pointed at me then shook his head.
"You don't drink?" I questioned, not believing him.
"No." He said, looking around us.
"Why?" I asked.
"Alcohol is disgusting and it makes people do stupid shit." He pointed out.
"And weed doesn't?" I chuckled.
"No, it doesn't." He responded.
"Okay but I'm pretty sure this isn't alcohol, it's too sweet to be alcohol." I took another shot.
"Your funeral." He muttered.
"Try it." I brought the cup to his lips. He sniffed it but didn't scowl. He looked at my face before taking the little cup from my hand and having a sip.
He didn't say anything afterwards, he kept looking at it like he was hesitant.
"Just finish it." I rolled my eyes at him and he did, "huuh?" I waited for him to say something.
"It's okay, I guess." He took another one. I shook my head at him.
We kept drinking and drinking and gossiping about the expensive decorations in the house until Jared showed up in a suit. Adrian laughed at his friend's appearance, I slapped his shoulder but laughed a little myself.
Jared looked strange, the suit looked too baggy on him.
"Laugh it all out." He gestured with his hands. Adrian did laugh it out. An actual laugh, it was a good look on him.
I stepped forward and gave Jared a tight hug.
"Why are you guys acting weird?" He asked when I pulled away.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"He's laughing and you're hugging me, that's so weird." He said.
"Me hugging you is weird? Dude, I thought you had a crush on me and everything." I sounded disappointed.
"I don't have a crush on you, I just admire you. There's a difference." He said.
"Ouch." I placed my hand over my chest dramatically.
"Oh my God, Adrian, you came." Said a pretty blonde girl coming out of nowhere.
She was wearing a beautiful blue gown, her long blonde hair straightened, her makeup on fleek_making her face look pretty and her voice sounded like an angel's.
She was one of those girls that totally make you feel so insecure about the way you look. Or the way you think you look.
"Jennifer, wow." Adrian looked mesmerized by her. I almost didn't recognize him gawking over that girl.
He gave her a very intimate hug, if that even exists.
They pulled away from each other and he started whispering stuff in her ear, which she giggled to.
I got curious real quick.
"Who is she?" I whispered to Jared.
"My stupid little sister Jen." He remarked irritatedly.
"Oh, it's her birthday too right?" I asked as I stared at their flirting.
"Unfortunately, yes." He didn't seem proud of it.
"She's really pretty." I don't know why I was complimenting her.
"She's also stealing your boyfriend right now." He mimicked my tone.
"Oh it's okay, it's not like we're dating for real, he can ask out other girls." I said to Jared while I watched Adrian hold Jen's waist in a flirtatious way.
"Dude, what do you think would happen to this fake dating business if Adrian got a girlfriend?" He asked curiously but with a little laugh.
"Nothing, I hope." I started seeing two Jareds but I blinked repeatedly to keep my vision normal.
"I was wrong to think you were smart." He said a little too harshly.
I punched his shoulder, "Hey!"
Then I felt fuzzy, dizzy, excited, drunk and wobbly.
"Are you okay?" Jared asked me.
"Jared, what's in those drinks?" I pointed to the table.
His jaw went slack, "Tell me you didn't?"
"Didn't what?" I stumbled back as I felt the room spin, he placed his hand on my back to keep me steady.
"Jen?" I heard him call his sister.
"What?!" She responded rudely.
"Adrian and his friend took the pink punch." He informed her.
"Shit, seriously?" She turned to ask Adrian, touching his face and examining it.
As if it was written on his face. Bitch.
"What's in the pink punch?" I asked but I'm pretty sure i was the only one who could hear myself speak.
"You don't wanna know, c'mon Jennifer we gotta get the neutralizers." Jared grabbed his sister's hand and ran off.
Neutralizers?
As I was watching them run off and wondering what kind of drug was consuming my body, I felt Adrian's arm around my shoulder.
Looking up at his face took decades due to the fact that my head felt like a huge rock, "Jared's sister is so fucking hot." He said, I scowled my face at him. "Do you wanna go egg Kim's house now?" His voice sounded like an echo.
I found myself smiling at that.
"Hell YES." I exclaimed. He entwined our hands, which was weird and we ditched the party.
