《The Ecstasy Of Faking It》Chapter 31: Don wannabe.

I killed the engine in front of a mansion where we were about to deliver one of those Toby boxes, funny thing was that Isabelle and I had no idea what was in those boxes because Toby always told us never to open them and we never did.
We both got out of the car, I grabbed the box from the backseat and carried it to the front gate.
Isabelle rang the doorbell and the doors slid open almost immediately, we exchanged a questionable glance before stepping inside.
"Rich motherfucking gangsters have it going." Isabelle remarked as we stared at the huge house, I snorted at her statement.
A shirtless tattooed guy opened the front door and gestured for us to go in, we walked in and I heard Izzy gasp.
It was even bigger on the inside, I had no idea how every gangster (except for Toby) made it that high up in a small town, I always wanted to ask but I never did.
"This it?" He asked, pointing at the box in my hands.
"Yeah." I responded while my partner spun around in a small circle as she looked up around the house.
He took the box from my hands and told us to follow him to the living room for some unknown reason, Isabelle sent me a worried look as we followed him there and found another guy that looked exactly like him sitting on a leather sofa, smoking pot.
Must be twins.
We took our seats while the shirtless guy sat the box down on the glass coffee table and opened the box with a little pocket knife.
"Well, fuck me." He pulled out little plastic bags filled with white powder?
It took a second for me to realize that it was cocaine.
"Is that...?"
"Cocaine?" Isabelle finished my sentence and looked just as shocked.
"Damn it, Toby." I hissed underneath my tone.
The shirtless guy put a little cocaine on the table and made a two straight lines using his knife, he was about to sniff when his twin brother stopped him.
"Whoa, dude, How do we know it's the real shit? Remember Julio?" He asked while coughing out smoke, the tattooed guy paused and looked thoughtful for a second.
"You're right." He got up and dusted his hands. "You." He pointed at me, placing his hands on his hips. "Come take the shot." He demanded.
I laughed, "Yeah. No." I shook my head.
"It wasn't a request, bro." the pot guy pulled out a gun from behind him and pointed it at me with such a firm grip, which let me know that he played around with guns a lot.
"Shit." Isabelle tugged on my jacket.
I had no idea why she was reacting that way, literally everyone we delivered to pulled shit like that on us cause we looked like kids, made me wanna fucking shoot myself every time.
I sighed before getting up and walking to the glass coffee table.
I had taken a lot of drugs before but not cocaine, I once witnessed someone overdose on that shit and it wasn't a pretty sight.
A knelt down, taking a deep breath, my eyes locked with Isabelle's. She looked fucking scared which made me feel like I was about to die.

"We ain't got all day, bruh, c'mon." The tattooed guy hit the back of my head and I glared up at him.
"Fuck you, man." I made sure he heard it.
"What'd you say?"
"JP, knock it off, man." His brother warned, "take your time pretty boy." he assured me.
I rolled my eyes and leaned over the table.
Here goes nothing.
I sniffed the two lines at once and felt a sharp sting in my nose, "Fuck." I pitched my nose and shut my eyes, sitting on the floor and shaking off the sting.
"Do you feel like you're in heaven?" JP patted my shoulder and they both laughed. "Okay, one more." He started making another line while my head spun around the room and I flattered my eyes, feeling like my eyelids were becoming heavier and heavier every second.
"C'mon dickheads, he's never taken coke before, he'll OD." I heard Isabelle's voice echo somewhere in the room.
"Do I look like I give a shit?" I felt his breath fan the side of my face, "go on" he told me.
I was about to take the shot when I felt someone push me, then I saw Isabelle sniff the whole thing like a pro, she didn't even pitch her nose like I did, she just wiped the reminder of the white powder from her nose and looked down at me.
"Shit, that was so hot." The pot guy chuckled.
"It's real coke okay? Assholes, can we go now?" She helped me up.
"Yeah, sure, you can go." JP scooted us away with his hands.
"Nice babe by the way, she looks like a keeper." The tattooed guy shouted after us and I heard their laughter falter.
"She's not my babe, asshole." I thought I said it.
I wrecked out of her arms and walked on my own, I placed my hands on my knees as soon as we reached my car. I heard Isabelle say something that I didn't quite catch, I looked up at her.
"What?"
"What?" She also asked.
"You said something?" My body started buzzing.
"No. the effects must be kicking in." She announced, walking to the passenger side.
"I don't think I can drive." I pulled out my car keys and tossed them to her, standing up straight.
She caught them and said, "You want me to drive your car?!"
"Don't go feeling all special, I'm just feeling really fucked up to drive." I walked to get on the passenger seat.
"Cool." She exclaimed, getting on the driver's seat and starting the car. She looked so happy I almost changed my mind, I never let other people drive my car.
"Why is your boyfriend such a Don wannabe?" My heart rate started to increase and I felt a sweat run down my forehead.
"My boyfriend?" She looked confused.
"Toby. I know you've fucked him." I had no idea why I said that out loud, I swore to myself that I wouldn't ask her about it because it wasn't my business.
"Shut up, you don't know shit." She whispered, keeping her eyes on the road.

"I might not know shit but I know you-"
"Where do you want me to take you? Warehouse or home?" She changed the subject, glancing at me for a brief moment.
"Neither, I just wanna see Emily." I took off my jacket and opened the car window. "Is it hot in here?" I stuck my head out and felt my heart beat even faster against my chest.
"Where does this Emily live?"
"355B, Hayden street." I started feeling nauseous.
"Does she know about this?"
"No. I'm scared she'll think I'm a bad guy and then she's gonna dump my ass." I didn't mean to say those words out loud either.
Damn cocaine.
"You are a bad guy and she is going to leave you, and that's just sweet but she deserves to know. Girls like honesty you know." She said. I took off my shirt and she narrowed her eyes at me.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure Toby should have told you that he was making us deliver cocaine all around town like idiots." I used my shirt to wipe my sweaty forehead.
"Okay so he's an asshole, doesn't mean you should be an asshole too." She responded, I stared at her in silence.
"What?" She asked.
"I don't wanna know any details but did he force you?" I finally asked what had been on my mind.
I had known Toby for nearly four years and he had never, ever slept with a girl under the age of twenty.
"Oh my God, Adrian, no, God no. I had sex with him because I wanted to." She looked embarrassed.
"Okay but dude, he's like twenty-eight-"
"Twenty-five." She corrected me.
"Same thing, and you're eighteen." I laughed.
"Legal age, yeah. Your point?" She asked.
"My point is that he's making us deal drugs for him without us even knowing about it, if he fucking gave a shit about you or me then he wouldn't be risky our lives like this." I suddenly felt angry.
"Maybe we're his most trusted people, ever thought of it like that?" She said.
"Most trusted people my ass! Do you know what could happen to us if one day, a cop car pulls us over with that box in my backseat?" I asked, angrily.
She stayed silent, defeated even.
"Exactly. We'd be fucked for life and I don't know about you, Izzy, but I don't wanna do this shit anymore. I wanna graduate from that hellhole they call highschool and finally leave this godforsaken town." I felt my heart beat faster and faster and my body radiating everywhere.
"Says the guy who has his whole life planned out. Some of us don't even go to that hellhole and it's not because we don't want to, it's because we simply can't. If I stop this shit as you call it, I won't be able to support my little sister anymore and god forbid any child services coming up to our house and taking her from me, so excuse me for being okay with dealing drugs cause honestly, I'd rather go to prison than be broke and alone." She expresses.
Now it was my turn to be quiet.
Isabelle lost her parents when she was fifteen, her parents were filthy rich but turned out, they were actually bankrupt which left her and her nine year old sister penny less, she went to Toby for help when she was sixteen and he made her do a lot of fucked up shit for money.
"I'm sorry, it's just that when Toby told me to join him, I thought that he was saving me and I didn't know that shit would get this far." I said in a calm regretful tone.
"How old were you?" She asked.
"Fifteen." I stated.
"Of course, he likes them young and vulnerable. why did you feel like you needed saving?" She turned to look at me.
"Long story." I took a deep breath to ease my heart.
"Fair. We're here?" She stopped the car on Emily's street.
I glanced at the house and saw a car I didn't recognize in the driveway, her Dad's car wasn't there and I already knew that because she had told me that he was going on a romantic dinner date with his girlfriend.
The lights in the house were on too which meant that she had company.
"Strange." I said out loud.
"What's strange?"
"Nothing, I'll be right back." I got out of the car, walking towards the house and staring at the red Jeep in the driveway.
It definitely looked familiar.
I didn't care to knock when I reached the front door, I just let myself inside and heard the sound of the television in the living room.
I ambled there and felt a little confused by who I saw sitting on the couch, Haley turned her head and looked at me standing in the doorway, wide eyed.
"Adrian." she sounded alert, "you're here." Her eyes fell to my bare chest.
Bitch.
"Why are you here? Where's Emily?" I asked while looking around the house.
"Emily? Oh, yeah, Emily. She uh-" she pulled out her phone nervously but it fell from her hands, she picked it up again and her fingers started typing so quickly I narrowed my eyes.
Then my eyes shifted to the empty beer bottles on the coffee table.
They possibly couldn't have had all those beers just the two of them.
She didn't even look drunk and she was acting stupidly weird.
And she couldn't have come here alone.
That's when it hit me.
"No fucking way." I rushed to the stairs.
"Adrian, Wait!" I heard her call after me but I didn't listen, I raced up the stairs to Emily's bedroom.
I opened the door and there they were, there he was, pinning her against the wall, kissing her.
Maybe I was just really high and delusional, right? Either way, I saw red everywhere and anger took over my body.
They pulled away and looked at me.
"The fuck you doing?" I didn't know if the question was for my girlfriend who was kissing her ex or her ex who knew he was as good as dead if ever touched her.

The Woman In The Palace
Highest rank #1 in Historical He glared at me with irritation. "Come inside!" ...And I did. He pointed to the stack of books on the floor. "Pick them up and arrange them the way they're supposed to."With trembling hands, I did what he asked quickly. Fret in the way I moved, picking up the books into my arms and lap one by one only for them to fall back on the floor over and over. I was a mess, upset, and it was obvious. This wasn't the kind of first meeting I dreamed of.The second prince was mean, and he was irritable. He had no clue who I am which made me resent it even more.He scowled as he watched me made mistakes after mistakes and after a while, he grew frustrated and bent over, picking the books himself."Forgive me, I didn't mean to snarl at you the way I did. I'm not used to being distracted. No one ever walks in my office unless they have my permission. I don't even know how the guardsmen let you in." I wanted to say because unlike you, they recognized who I am. But I kept my mouth shut in fear of aggravating his anger. His voice took a lot gentler tone, I imagined he must've realized how upset I was and felt bad about it.I said nothing. When we're done, I rose up to my feet, couldn't wait to get out of this room. This man was so impolite to me that I couldn't wait to get away from him."I apologize, your highness. I didn't mean to distract you in your private office." I stepped back getting ready to leave when a sliver of sunlight struck highlighting my face. "Wait!" He murmured and I turned back to look at him."You're beautiful." He said breathlessly.I would have blushed, but he was so mean and rude to me that his compliment lost its impact long ago."I need to go," I told him."Wait." A wave of panic rose in the tide of his voice. The prince was afraid to lose me. "What's your name, girl?" He asked quickly. "Jasmine, my name is Jasmine, your highness.""My Jasmine?" He murmured hopeful.
