《Falling Beginning》Chapter 9.

[Adam POV]
I get calls and a message from unexpected someone saying she wants to see me.
I rush towards the front door while grabbing my car keys, but someone grabs my arms. I look behind me and I see Nea's holding on to me. She looks hard to breathe and pale, probably because she tries to catch up to me.
" D D Don't leave me"
What? Suddenly? Does she know who am I running to?
"I'm sorry, but I really have to go"
She shakes her head and grabbing my arm desperately. I hold her hand and let it go slowly from my arm. She looks at me almost crying.
"I'll be back, I promise"
I push the door open and I get in my car, drive it fast. I see from my rearview that Nea's is out of the house and looks at me, hopelessly as I drive until I'm out of her view.
I'll be back, so don't make that face.
After a few minutes, I arrive at the coffee shop where we usually meet up. I see that she sit in our spot drinking her favorite black coffee.
"Hey"
I said as I smile softly. She looks up to me, didn't smile back.
"You look good. Considering how were we during our last meeting."
Again, with that sarcastic tone.
"I don't want to argue with you, not today"
"So do I."
She casually said as she put her coffee down and look at me straight in the eye.
"I'm moving."
"Where?"
"As far as possible"
"When?"
"As soon as possible"
I look away to the street, the weather started to get cold as I look at the window slowly getting frosty. Season's change, people change
"If it makes you happy, I'll be happy too"
This is it. It's the end. My heart's throbbing.
"We'll never make it anyway"
She said those words that make me snap, furious.
"You won't know until you try"
"I tried! We tried. But somehow it just won't happen the way we want it to."
She looks outside to someone and she smiles. I saw that there's a man across the road smiling back to her.

"You didn't just move away, your heart also moves on"
I stare at her. Her eyes are glossy.
"I have to, and I hope you're happy with your wife."
She stands up and stops for a second to say something before she walks out of the coffee shop and crosses the road. My eyes follow her to the man as they get in the car and drives away, out of my sight.
I stay, for how many hours, I don't know. Replaying memories of us for 2 years, together. What she said to me before walking away stuck in my head.
"Be happy Adam, you deserve it. And, make her happy, she deserves it too."
My iPhone buzzes a few times, making me stop thinking for a while.
Group Chat :
Noah: Yo! Let's meet up, usual.
Alex: What time?
Lucas: Great! I'm hungry anyway.
William : *Typing
Noah: Adam, man. We know you're back in town. Reply dimwit!
This lil ****
Me: How about now?
Noah: On it.
Lucas: In a minute, guys.
Alex: Aye.
William : *Typing
Noah: Stop typing and get your ass move, Will!
..
I walk out of the cafe and look back for a minute.
Yeah, let's be happy. Goodbye Emily.
Driving to the pub only takes up only about 15 minutes, but Lucas beat me to it. He always does.
"Ssup!"
We high five and fist bump before I sit next to him. After a minute, Alex, William and Noah arrive and we sit at the table next to the window, near the stage in the pub. Our usual spot, and before we order, the drinks arrive.
"Long time no see guys"
Sam, the pub owner greets us. We are his regulars since high school.
"How's life?"
"Great." - Noah
"Never better" - Alex
"Nice" - Lucas
William only nods, but Sam knows since it's William.
"Congratulations on the wedding Adam"
I look up at Sam and I look at my friends, best friends, puzzles.
"How did.."
All of them point to Noah and I shot him a glare.
"Hey, it's Sam. He should know. I only tell him, no others."
Sam laugh and pat Noah on the shoulder.

"Thanks, Sam"
"Where's the wife?"
"At home"
"I see, I pray for your happiness Adam"
Sam smiles as he walks away.
"What's wrong?" Alex asks me.
I play with the car keys and didn't reply.
Lucas snaps the car keys from me and hands it to William.
"Spit it out"
"I met Emily"
All of their eyes go wide.
"Why?" - Lucas
"When?" - Alex
"What?" - Noah
William just looks at me. Like he always did.
"She wants to see me, today at the coffee shop. She's moving away and move on"
"What do you mean by moving away and move on?"
Alex calmly asks, as per usual.
"She's moving away to somewhere else in this world, and she moves on from me, already has someone else"
Noah and Lucas gasp. As per usual of their behavior.
"You're better without her anyway."
William mutters while grabbing his drink.
All of us look at Will, we know he only speaks when he thinks necessary. I smile, but from my eyes, they can see sadness.
Alex pats me on my back, comforting me. He's always the calm one in our group, that's probably why he could handle Leia and of course us.
I look up to them, "I'm okay, don't worry"
They look unconvinced, but they let me go.
"By the way, how's Nea? Does she know you're meeting Emily?"
Noah's questions somehow make me feel guilty towards Nea.
"She...She didn't know... Probably"
I recalled her expression when I rush out of the house.
Why did she look at me like that? Did she know?
"I heard from Sara about yesterday."
Of course, Sara told Lucas. They are always conversing with each other.
"She also told me that you want to explain, how did it go?"
Crap! I forgot. She must've been waiting.
I quickly get up and take my car keys from Will.
"Sorry guys I got to go. I forgot about that"
I rush out, get in the car and drive fast but safely since the roads can be slippery when it's cold outside.
As soon as I arrive home, I see that the house is dark.
"Why didn't she turn the lights?"
I walk inside quickly to find Nea, it's been 4-5 hours since I left her alone.
"Nea? Where are you?"
No response. I turn the lights up at every place in the house. I look for her at the pool, kitchen, living room and every corner and room in this house but she's nowhere to be seen. I try to call her, but I forgot that I didn't have her number.
I call Sara and she picks up after one ring.
"Well hello brother, how's it going?"
"I need Nea's number"
"You didn't have Nea's number yet?"
I heard Leia's cursing me on the other side, I guess she knows the story from Sara by now.
"Sara, please, I need it now."
"I'll send it now"
She holds the calls and starts tapping her phone "Done"
"Thanks."
I cut the calls before she could say anything. I try calling Nea's but she didn't pick up.
"Come one, pick up. Pick up Nea"
I walk to our room and heard ringing inside. I switch on the light and found her phone on the bed.
"Seriously?"
I quickly text Sara
Me: Is Nea with you?
Sara: No. What happened Adam?
Me: She's nowhere to be seen. Her phone is in the house but she's not.
Sara: I'll find her nearby with Leia.
Adam: Call me when you found her.
Sara: Got it!
.
I chat on the group with the boys
Me: Guys Nea's nowhere to be seen.
All of them are typing, but only Lucas replies.
Lucas: We're on it. Sara called just now.
Me: Alright, hit me up when you found her.
Lucas: Got it.
.
I walk downstairs and stops in the living room. Trying to recall anywhere she probably is. But nothing comes up since I didn't know about her well. I remember the neighborhood where I found her yesterday and I quickly push the front door and get to the car.
I almost get in the car when I see Nea's at the corner of the house near the garage, crouching. She's covered by Dad's motorbike. I run towards her and sit in front of her.
"Nea, I've been looking for you.."
I stop mid-sentence when she didn't respond and I grab her arms. She's as cold as ice and unconscious when she falls to my chest as I catch her. I carry her inside as quick as possible.
Please, please, please be okay.
