Crack!

My eyes widen, my hands flying to my face in shock, his head had turned so fast at the force. If you'd blinked you would have missed it. Steven's body collapsed to the ground lifeless with a loud thud. Nobody said a word, a few gasps in the crowd, either than that crickets. It was silent and my heart was beating faster than ever. I looked at Landon who was frozen.

Mia exclaimed and I couldn't even listen.

Landon slowly turned around to look at me but, not quite in the eyes. His were no longer black but, their normal brown. It almost looked like he was shocked he even did that. I didn't even know what to think. Steven was dead, he killed him, just like that.

"I um-" he cleared his throat and started to walk over to me.

He walked into my arms hugging me, "I'm sorry please don't be scared of me." After a second I wrapped my arms around him.

I'm not.

"It's okay." he was shaking, so I ran my hand down his back, "It's okay, Landon I'm not scared you were angry I understand." I whispered and he didn't say anything, just hugged me.

I could feel his anger still emitting from him and I wanted more than anything to take it away. Then I remembered the pack, they witnessed the whole thing and were still here. I gasped when I felt Landon sliding down to his knees, hugging my waist.

"Hey, hey what's wrong?" I asked as he mumbled.

"Please don't be scared of me."

I looked around becoming very protective of him and I didn't want anyone seeing him like this. My head turned to the crowd gathered.

"Go to your homes." I stated trying to sound as strong but, they didn't budge, "Now." Mia pushed through and said way louder than I could have.

They all immediately went some even mumbling a 'yes luna'. When I looked back to Zach he was staring down at Steven as well as the guys.

"Zach could you um, take the guys back to the cells for the time being." he nodded his head starting to usher the boys back who went willingly.

I looked down at Landon and seen him hugging me tightly. With his eyes shut, I could feel the stress coming off him in waves. Some of the anger dialing down.

"Uh, Luna." I looked to the guard who had Brad by the arm, Donna holding the other.

"Donna let him go or he'll take you with him." she shook her head and I looked to the guard nodding my head.

Another guard grabbed Donna and Brad taking them into the dark building. Shutting the door behind them with a loud slam. The air was silent not a soul around, wind blowing. I bent down on my knees to come eye level with Landon.

"Landon." I grabbed his face, "Open your eyes." he slowly did, "I'm not scared look at me, I'm not, okay, it's okay I'm not-" he kissed my lips softly, and slowly.

Before pulling away, "How could you not be scared of me right now."

"Because, I love you because, I know you and I think we've been here before right?" I smiled a bit and he shook his head.

"I'm sorry Layla I just lost control when I seen him grab you, Jake pushed through and he was thinking about everything that happened to you and he couldn't let him live, I couldn't let him live." he explained not meeting my eye, "And if I didn't hug you I would have killed them all, how can you just say that's okay."

I caressed his face urging him to look up, "I'm honestly more in shock than anything, it all happened so fast." he shook his head again, stress hitting him more, "And I'm saying it's okay because, you're my mate and you were angry for what he did to me, I'm saying it's okay because, after all I've been through I don't want to be afraid of you so yes Landon it is okay."

He sighed, slowly meeting my eyes, he brought his hand to touch my face gently, "I love you and I wouldn't ever hurt you but, I am sorry you had to see me like that." he mumbled.

I shook my head, "Don't be, I love you."

He smiled, "Not one of our greatest days huh?"

"No it's not." I whispered, kissing him sweetly.

Our foreheads touching as we gazed into one another's eyes comfortably.

Until,Mia interrupted our sweet moment.

Landon pulled away with a laugh, "I think that can be arranged."

We both laughed and I started to stand helping him up as well, "We need to unlink the guys from the pack before their officially rouges." I nodded my head, holding his hand.

"First can we just have a second I'm still sort of processing." I mumbled and he chuckled.

"Yes love."

I opened the door revealing Audrey who smiled at the sight of me, "Hello is Landon here I just wanted to check on him."

"Of course." I opened the door for her shutting it as soon as she was inside.

We walked to the kitchen where he was finishing his sandwich his eyes lighting up when he seen his mother. He got up off the stool and embraced her just as tightly as she did him. She rubbed his hair in the back soothingly.

"Are you okay honey?" she asked, he pulled away and nodded his head.

"Yeah I am thanks to Layla." he looked at me and I flushed, "I know you were there mom, I'm sorry you had to see that."

"Nonsense you have no need to apologize." she smiled and walked up to the counter before looking at me, "Sandwiches? how about I cook some real food." she playfully rolled her eyes at Landon and we shared a laugh.

Before the door knocked again, Landon gave me a curious look as I went to answer it. It was Genevieve wearing a soft smile.

"Hi, we just wanted to see how you were doing." she stated softly.

"We?" I asked, she stepped out of my view and I seen Jacob holding Dawn who had a tiny flower in her hand, offering it to me.

I smiled and opened the door wider for them. Jacob was eyeing me weirdly again but, I decided to look over it as I've been through enough today. We all walked to the kitchen and Landon caught my eye.

"More the merrier?" I asked.

We all sat and had a home cooked dinner together, Audrey had prepared. It was honestly a really good time. Genevieve wanted to make sure I was okay after everything that happened, which I found really sweet. But, Jacob kept staring at me which made Landon a bit upset, okay more than upset. Either than that it was a really good time though.

I gasped when Landon suddenly turned my face to him and kissed me hard. His lips melted into mine giving off such a possessiveness to it. Once he pulled away, my cheeks were flushed and I felt butterflies swarming my stomach. He smirked, winking at me and turning back to his food as if he did nothing. I know he did that because, of Jacob though.

'Close your mouth unless you're still eating love.' he mind linked me and I was blushing even more.

I shut my mouth and turned to my plate. My eyes glanced to Genevieve who just looked shocked and Jacob didn't look at me anymore. Dawn was perfectly content eating her fruit. While Audrey was just eating her food in complete silence.

Mia whimpered now longing for our mate to touch us more.

After dinner, Genevieve had taken Dawn to the restroom. I had no idea where Landon went and Audrey went to her house. So I was stuck with the dishes but, I didn't mind as she did cook such a delicious meal.

"Luna?" I turned around and seen Jacob coming into the kitchen.

"Hey and you can call me Layla." I smiled politely, drying my hands on a dish towel.

"Right." he smiled, sitting down at the counter, "Do you need any help?"

"Oh no that's alright I just finished, thank you though." I nodded my head and his face turned serious.

"Um, so, I know this might seem weird of me to ask especially since we've never really talked but, what's your last name?" I drew my eyebrows together in pure confusion.

"It's Anderson, why?" I questioned and his eyes widen as he stared at my features.

"Because, my names Jacob Anderson."
