《My Unwanted Child》Chapter 18

Nathan POV:
My father finally called me back around 10pm. "Nathan, there's nothing we can do right now. You're to be engaged in a week anyway." I grunted. "I had a week. I needed that time to explain this to Mia!" He laughed. "What is so funny? I just lost my chance to be with my family and you're laughing." My father went silent. "Don't blame this on anyone else besides yourself. You lost your chance 6 years ago when you walked away from your responsibilities! You had 6 damn years to contact Mia and what did you do? You partied, got drunk and had one night stands one after another. You really think you had a chance? Do you not know Mia at all? You think she would just forget everything and be with you? Be realistic! Now stop acting like a child and take responsibility. You made your bed, now sleep in it!" With that he hung up.
What the hell am I suppose to do now. I went straight into my study and poured a drink. I need to fix this. I can't get engaged to Bianca. I could never be with Bianca. I kept drinking until I passed out in my study.
The next day I woke up hung over. I need to make a plan. I need to fix this. I just need to talk to Mia first. I went to my room and took a quick shower. It was already 11am. I went downstairs and it was quite. Maybe they all went to the beach? I asked my cook if they had breakfast and she said no. Then I called my front security and asked when they all left the house. "Sir your guests packed there bags and left by 6am. I assumed you knew." Damn it! But wait, my son is at my parents. I decided to go over there. Maybe I can catch Mia before she picks our son up.
I got to my parents and walked in. I found my father in his study. "Hey dad." I took a seat across from him. "What are you doing here?" I got a bit uncomfortable remembering our conversation last night, "I was hoping to catch Mia." He put down the paperwork in his hands and took his glasses off. "Mia picked her son up earlier." I gritted my teeth. "Our son." My dad just shook his head. "Nathan, you need to stop. If you keep this up we will loose contact with our grandson and you will never be able to even know about him."

I got up and started pacing. "No. I can't give up. I still love Mia and I want to be with her and be the father I should have been since the beginning to Ethan." My dad let out another sigh. "Sit down!" I did as I was told. "As long as Bianca is in the picture I don't think it's a good idea for you to have any contact with Mia. Bianca is a vengeful woman and she will try and destroy Mia. Is that what you want?" He is right, Bianca already threatened Mia and god forbid she tried to harm Ethan. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
"You're right. I need to fix this situation with Bianca first. What are my options. I will not marry her." We spent the next few hours thinking of options. We talked to our lawyer and also invited Bianca and her family over tomorrow to discuss everything. I just had to hold out for tomorrow. I decided to go home get some work done to get my mind off of everything.
The next day I got to my parents by 10am. Bianca and her family would be here by noon. My mother walked in and she was not happy. "I don't understand why you are doing this Nathan. Bianca is perfect for you and she's pregnant with your child." I pinched the bridge of my nose. "It's not my child." She shook her head. "You are being ridiculous Nathan. You'd be lucky to be with someone like Bianca. She was raised in this lifestyle and has class." Suddenly my father spoke. "Enough! Nathan is a grown man! He can choose his own wife, he will not be forced! No matter what, if this child is his, he will be a father. But that does not mean he has to marry the girl." "Are you kidding me Gary! It would make our family look like a disgrace. What would people think of me. That I raised a son who would knock up a woman and walk away!"
"You already did mother! Why didn't you push me to be with Mia and my son!" She snickered. "Oh please. Enough about that woman! That's over! Once Bianca has this child it will be the legitimate heir!" I couldn't take it anymore. I stormed out the back to calm down. After 20 minutes my dad came out.
"Son, calm down. Getting mad will not get you anywhere." I sat down and buried my face in my hands. "I screwed everything up. I had an amazing girl and have this incredible kid and I threw it all away." He patted my back. "We'll figure this all out. Just stay calm." I nodded and we headed inside.

Once we walked in we saw Bianca and her parents. Bianca came towards me and tried to hug me but I stepped back. "Baby, what's wrong?" I shook my head. "Stop the games Bianca, lets sit down with our families and talk." She smirked. "Sure, but first did you hear the big news." I rolled my eyes but played along. "What big news?" Her smile grew as she passed me her phone with the article.
"
Benjamin Arnault has finally found a future wife. We don't have a lot of info, but resources said her name is Mia Constantine and she is the VP of Knight enterprise. Apparently she is a bit of an entrepreneur as owning plenty of real estate as well. Not quite close to the billions the Arnaults have but a self made woman. The two have been spotted together in the Hamptons all weekend long. First a private dinner, then they came together to the white party and lastly she was with Benjamin at their families famous Labor Day BBQ. Sources said they were very cozy and it seems even his parents and siblings adore the young woman. So do we hear wedding bells coming soon? Many woman will be crying tonight since this billionaire bachelor is off the market.
I looked up at Bianca and she had a wide smile. I wanted to flip out. I wanted to break things. This can't be true. She left yesterday. I assumed she went back to the city. She can't be with him. "Come on babe, lets sit with our parents and discuss our engagement party." I pulled my arm away from her and headed to the parlor.
My father immediately sensed something was wrong so he started the conversation. "So we want to discuss the kids obviously. Nathan would like a paternity test before we make any decisions and I think that is more then fair." Bianca's parents weren't too happy hearing this. Then Bianca spoke. "No, it's invasive and harmful to our child! I won't do that!" Then I smirked. "I spoke with a few doctors and there is a noninvasive blood test we can do. It takes 7 days to get results. It's 99.9% accurate." Bianca's parents nodded in agreement but I could sense Bianca got nervous. "I don't understand why we can't go with the original plan. We get engaged and once the baby is here we'll do a DNA test. Nathan you know it's yours! Just grow up and take responsibility for once!"
That was the hair that broke the camels back. "What's the matter Bianca? If you are so sure it's mine this shouldn't be a a big deal." Then my mom spoke, "we already made plans for the engagement party. The invitations are ready to go out." I rolled my eyes. "I never agreed to a big engagement party. Cancel the party!" My dad raised an eyebrow at me warning me to calm down. I took deep breath. "I really don't want a large party. I would prefer to get a DNA test prior. If the baby is mine, then fine. I'll go along with the engagement party. I can't promise to marry you though Bianca. I don't want to be in a loveless marriage and you shouldn't either."
Her parents seemed surprised. Then spoke. "Nathan, you and Bianca have been together for 2 years now. She goes on and on about how happy she is with you. We're a bit confused." Bianca for once looked embarrassed. "Honey, what's going on?" Bianca sighed. "I may have exaggerated a bit about Nathan and I's relationship. But, I'm in love with him. And he'll learn to love me too." My parents didn't look surprised but Bianca's seemed shocked.
"So, honey, all those stories about the dates, the vacations all the little surprises he did for you. They were a lie?" She just shrugged. "Oh dear. Okay Nathan. The words already out about the engagement. We will postpone the date until the DNA results come out. If you are the father, the engagement is on, but we won't force a marriage. Just be there for her until the baby comes and then make a decision whether to co-parent separately or parent together." I just nodded. I know I can't be the dad.
"Honey, you have a doctors appointment in a few days anyway. We'll get the test done and take it from there. Understand?" Bianca just nodded.
