Mia POV:

It's been 6 blissful weeks. Benny is amazing, Ethan adores him. Even David and Jack approve. It feels unreal. We have dinner at his parents house every Sunday which I love, Helen and Bernard or the ones in his circle call him Bernie, absolutely adore Ethan and treat him like their own. Ethan and Abby are the bestest of friends even though she's two years older. Benny's family have taken us in as their own.

It was Friday when an envelope I had to sign for came by carrier. I wasn't expecting anything. So when I saw it was from the court house I was shocked. Then I read it. Nathan put in a petition for custody of Ethan. After looking over the evidence the judge approved the petition and it's going to court. Are you kidding me!!! I can't believe he would do this. I instantly called Benny. Usually it would be David, but me and Benny have grown so close. I know he'll know what to do.

"Hey love." I croaked out "Benny" instantly he knew. "What's the matter? What happen. Actually hold on, alex, cancel the rest of my day. It's an emergency. Okay, love, I'm on my way. Everything will be okay. It's not Ethan is it? Is he okay. Tell me he's okay. Shit, owe, damn door." I couldn't help but laugh. "It's not Ethan. Well, it's about him. Ethan's Sperm donor filed for custody. I just got the petition and a court date." I heard him mumble that mother fucker. "Everything will be fine love. He signed over his rights. No judge will ignore that. I have the best lawyers in this country, he won't come near our son. Do you hear me?" I nodded. Not even thinking he can't see me. "I'll be there in 10 - 15 minutes. Let me make some calls. I love you." "I love you too."

2 min later Benny texted that there is a horrible traffic jam but he's right by his lawyers office so he is gonna take a detour. He asked me to fax all the paperwork over. Then my secretary buzzed in. "Mia, Mr. Williams is here." I sighed, I like Gary, but right now is not the right time. But gotta be a big girl. "Send him in."

I watched the door open and in walked in Nathan, not Gary. He shut the door and instantly got out of my chair, "what the fuck do you think you are doing here?" He held his hand up. "I made an appointment." I gritted my teeth. "As Mr. Williams, not Nathan Williams." He let a breath out. "Please Mia, give me 15 minutes. I need to explain and then you can kick me out, just give me 15 minutes. Please." I know I shouldn't, but I just wanted to get this over with. "Fine." I sat down and he sat across from me.

"First, I love you. I've always loved you and I haven't stopped." I just rolled my eyes. "Okay so this past 5 weeks have been difficult." He told me all about what happened to Bianca and how he is holding off on the DNA test because of the complication in her pregnancy. "Baby, I love you. I want to be with you and Ethan. I just need 4-5 months. I just need a little more time. I need to make sure Bianca and the baby are okay and then we can be a family. You waited 6 years. What's another few months? And then this nightmare will be all over. We can be together. The family we were always meant to be. I know how understanding you are, you get why we have to wait, right babe?"

He's serious right now? I can't believe I ever thought I loved him, infatuation, maybe, but love? I sighed and sat back in my chair very calm. "Nathan, do you hear yourself?" He looked confused. Okay need to dumb it down, "Nathan, six years ago, when I told you I was pregnant you asked me to abort, then you dumped me and kicked me out." He looked down, full of shame. "I know, I screwed up. But I'm gonna make it all better. Don't you see?" I shook my head. "No, what I see is you putting someone else above me and your son. You being so selfish you think thats okay." He suddenly stood up.

"Mia! This is different. She could die and so could that baby! I have to be there for them!" And I just smiled. "Exactly, you are putting them above me and Ethan. I don't want that in my life. My son doesn't need that in his. I don't ever want him to be put into second place of importance like you are doing to me right now." He shook his head frantically. "It's not like that, and you know it. I'm choosing you and Ethan. I just need time. You're twisting this. Bianca needs me right now. You can wait a few months. You guys are fine!"

That was the last straw. I stood up slamming my hands on my desk. "I needed you 6 years ago! I was alone. My parents were dead! My brother lived in another state! I had no one Nathan! I needed you but you walked away! Even if you thought I was giving up that baby for adoption you could have been there for me during my pregnancy! But you weren't! Bianca has her parents and your parents! Your parents tried to take my son away from me not help me! So fuck you! You say you love me so much! Where were you the last 6 years! We live in the same god damn city!!! So don't give me this bullshit of love!" Then I sat. He looked shocked. His face was pale and he didn't know what to say.

Then calmly I said, "you know what I think? I think at first you heard I was successful, and that interested you. Then, the Bianca situation happened and instead of stepping up like you should have, you claimed bullshit only because you realized I was the better woman. Let's be real, she's pretty, but that's all she gots going for her. She's just a spoiled trophy wife. You realized, I have the mind, beauty and success. I think you only used the reason we have a kid to get out of being stuck with Bianca. Then, I think you heard about me and Benjamin. You're pissed because I found someone who truly loves me and I love him back, Now you want what you can't have. If you actually love me Nathan, let me go. Me and Ethan are happy, drop this stupid custody bullshit, you won't win. If you actually give a shit about Ethan, don't make promises you can't make. Leave him alone. Honestly, you signing over your rights to him was probably the best thing you could have ever done for him and me. Go be with Bianca and your kid and leave us the fuck alone."

Nathan's hand were curled into fist. He went from shock to fuming. He stood and started pacing, then he started rounding my desk and I don't know what was going to happen when suddenly the door swung open and Benny came storming in. "Step one more foot near her and I will fucking kill you." Nathan froze and turned around. Not expecting Benny to be in his face.

"You fucker!" He started pushing at Benny, but Benny has him by 3-4inches and at least 60+pounds of pure muscle, "this is all because of you! You don't actually want her! You could have anyone, any supermodel. You only want her because she's mine! Tell her the truth, you have always tried to beat me in everything. Always had to be the best! You knew she was mine and that's Ethan's my son! You just want to prove you can beat me again!"

Then he turned to me. "Mia, he's going to screw you over! Don't believe him. This is a vendetta to get to me! Don't be naive enough to fall for it. Don't throw us, our family away for his bullshit lies!" I looked at Benny and he didn't even look mad, he looked sad for Nathan. I think Nathan is actually losing it. He has more issues then I even realized. It kinda all becomes clear. Why he left me when I was pregnant, all he cares about is being the best, the favorite, wanted, he's just needy.

"Nathan, just stop. You are embarrassing yourself. Go home, go to Bianca. And drop this case before you embarrass yourself and your family publicly." He scoffed. "I told you I don't give a shit about what the public thinks. I'm not dropping anything, in fact, I'm going for full custody. I will destroy you and bleed every penny you have out of you and take your son from you! And then I will marry Bianca and we'll send dear Ethan to the most horrid boarding school. We will raise our child in the luxury they deserve while Ethan suffers. He'll suffer and you won't be able to do anything about it but suffer in the gutters like the poor bitch you were when I met you. I'll make you regret this you bitch!"

That was the last straw for Benny, next think I know he punched Nathan in the gut so hard Nathan gasped and dropped down. Then he stepped on his chest making it harder for him to catch his breath "You ever talk to my girl like that again, I will end you. Do you understand!" The way Benny spoke even sent shivers down my spine. He then called security and had Nathan removed.

I just stood there in shock, then I felt Benny wrap his arms around me and kiss my forehead, "don't worry love. I promise, I will protect you and our son with my life." I just nodded. Still in shock. Then I heard someone else walk in, "Ms. Constantine? I'm Mr. Hughes, Benjamin and your attorney. I'm sure you are in a bit of shock but we were patiently waiting to see you when we heard the outburst. I couldn't help myself and may have taped it. Now, as a lawyer this is an iffy situation without consent, but because I was behind a closed door and a concerned citizen I am obliged to report this and hand in the evidence to the authorities, now as your lawyer I can request any evidence into court, let's just say, you have nothing to worry about. Your ex will never come near you or you son."

It took me a minute to comprehend everything and then I smiled. I looked at Benny who smiled back and nodded. "This is going to be over?" And they both nodded. My smile grew wider, "Mr. Hughes? Do you also handle adoptions?" He seemed perplexed but nodded. "Good, because once I marry this man I want our son to officially be ours and share our last name."

Next thing I knew, Benny picked me up spinning me and kissed me, "fuck it, this isn't how I wanted to do this but I can't wait another minute. Then he was on one knee. "Mia Constantine, I've been carrying this ring around for a month now. Trying to plan the perfect way to ask you, I don't care how long I've known you, I don't care what people think, all I know is I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to be Ethan's dad and I want to give him siblings. I promise I will make you the happiest woman alive if you'll marry me."

"Yes!! Yes!! God yes!!" He slipped the ring

onto my finger and I launched into him making him fly back as I kissed him. "I love you". "I love you too"
