《His Angels》sequel: chapter ten

"Brynn c'mon let's go for a walk. You've been in this office overworking yourself for weeks now. You should take a break." Dylan pleads.
"No. I need to stay focused."
"On what? You're like three thousand years ahead on everything. Take a walk with me please." He begs. "C'mon please, I took a day off just for us to talk and you know I never do that."
"Fine," I grumbled.
We left the office and walked to the park that was nearby.
"How have you been?" He asks after a long long moment of silence.
"Eh." I shrugged.
"C'mon. What's going on up in that huge ass head of yours?"
"It's not that big." I slapped his arm. "I'm not just lost I guess."
"Explain it to me."
"I'm not even sure how to explain it."
"We have all day. Say what you gotta say and I'll try my best to understand." He gives me a reassuring smile. We sit down on a bench staring out to the pond.
"I'm just feeling a bunch of emotions all at once and it's overwhelming. I'm just upset that he wanted to move on like I understand that to him it felt like an eternity in there but it just hurt to hear him say that he wanted to move on from us."
"It hurts to think he found another girl to be with. Thinking about him with another person just made me upset. Seeing Ellerie made it worst. She was gorgeous. Beautiful straight hair, a beautiful figure—" She flicks my forehead, cutting me off.
"I'm gonna stop you right there. Do not try to compare yourself to another female? Do you understand me? You are beautiful just the way you are. You can catch any guy's attention when you walk by. Not mines though, you're like a roach to me." He smiles before looking serious again. "But seriously don't do that."
I muffled a laugh and shook my head. "Fine. I'm just stuck on his words. When he told me he wanted to move on. And then when he first came back and told me he didn't do anything with anyone else. That made me happy but it was just a lie. He lied to me and I just don't know what I want to do anymore."

"What's the first thing he did when he got out?"
"Go see his mom."
"And then?"
"He came to my house."
"What does that say?"
"I don't know." I shrugged.
"He may have wanted to move on because he knew you were happy since Ray was feeding him false information but he came back to see you regardless. He still wanted to hold you and he still wanted to see Journey. He still wants you." Dylan tells me. "Journey told me that he pushed that girl away."
"I know but I'm not sure about the stilling wanting my part. I've been avoiding him for a month and some change." I fiddled with my fingers.
He places his hands on top of mine to make me stop. "Trust me, he does. I've never seen him look at another girl the way he has looked at you. Not even Ellamaine."
"Ellerie." I corrected him.
"I don't give a horse shit what her name is. Fact is she doesn't matter anymore."
"I guess." I shrugged. "Thanks though."
"For?" He raised a brow.
"For talking to me, for making sure I was okay, for protecting me, and you know for everything. I don't know how I could repay you."
"Eh send me 10,000 check and we'll be even." He jokes causing me to smile.
"Getting to be my best friend isn't enough?"
"It's just not doing the job anymore."
"Oh shut it, ass clown."
I knocked on the door a couple of times. I swear on all the frogs if this guy doesn't open up I will kick this door down and I'm not paying for the damage.
"Okay, okay." The door opens and I stopped before I accidentally smashed my fist into Jax's face.
"What's taking you so long?"
"You're forgetting I have three kids to take care of." He rolls his eyes and I flicked his forehead.
"Don't roll your eyes at me."
"You talked to Brynn?"
"Yes."
"Is she okay?"

"Yeah."
"Is there anything else you can tell me?"
"Nope. Whatever she tells me stays in the safe in my head."
"Cmon. We're family."
"Don't use that family bullshit with me. She's my family too." I threw a tissue at him. Clean not dirty. "I have one question for you though."
"What?"
"Did you really try to move on with Ellashane? Or whatever the fuck you were trying to do with her?"
"It's Ellerie."
"I don't give a pigeons crap what the fuck her name is." I rolled my eyes.
I mean why do these two keep trying to correct me? I could care less about some girl named Eileen.
"Okay, okay, and honestly no. It didn't feel right when I kissed her but I thought she had moved on with you. If I had known she wasn't then I wouldn't have kissed her back." He sighs, "I'm pretty sure I kissed her back only out of jealousy that Brynn had moved on."
"So you were locked up in this hell sorta like prison, trying to "move on" with Ellascram, or was it just a hook up because you're a little boy and you're bored?" I asked rubbing my chin. Seriously, why do these little rascals not know how to control their testosterone?
Literally the bare minimum.
He rolls his eyes, "It was just one kiss." He scratched his neck nervously, his eyes looking between my fist that was clenched and my face.
One wrong word and I'm imprinting my fist into the chest.
"Okay, so y'all did have sex?"
"No."
"Really?"
He groans, "Yes, it was just one kiss."
"Good."
"Why'd you need to know?"
"If you did have sex with her, I think I would've beaten your ass right here, right now," I told him.
Seriously like I hate the fact that his lips touched another girl other than my sister but I can give him a pass on that. He was fed lies but going as far as fucking another female is absolutely unacceptable.
I wouldn't let Brynn near him again.
Also, how would you find the time to do that in there?
"Anyway don't tell Brynn I asked."
"We're not even on speaking terms soooo."
"Yeah, I forgot." Shit whoops.
"But seriously what am I supposed to do? I lied to her. How am I supposed to get her to trust me again?"
"I don't know. She hates liars with a very strong passion. She almost set Kian on fire one time because he lied and said someone kidnapped her children."
"I would've too."
I sighed smiling, "Yeah but you're just gonna give her time and space so she can figure everything out for herself. That's how she is. She has a lot of mixed emotions, it's overwhelming her so give her space. She'll be okay. She always is."
"Yeah."
"In the meantime, take care of yourself and take care of the kids. When she comes back, you'll need to focus more on her."
"Why?" He asks once I was ready to close the door.
I slapped his head, "Well you want her back right, asshole? You need to start wooing that girl back into your life."
"Who knows if she even wants me back."
"Shut the fuck up, that girl is madly in love with you. In love, not just love. She's hurt but if you do the right things, she'll come back to you. You're her home Jax, you and the kids." I tell him, he nods not being able to say anything else.
That's right, I leave everyone speechless when I'm done.

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
