《Dorming With The Jocks》Chapter 14-

Glitter was everywhere.
I was sitting next to Jackie, watching as she sprinkled even more glitter onto her poster. The guy she had chosen to support was number 18, Squid. I was starting to believe she had a little crush on him, but she denied anything when I asked.
"Who's number are you doing again?" One of the girls, Kailey I think her name was, asked the girl across from her. All eight girls were sitting in a big circle in the lobby of Jackie's dorm.
"My favorite, 24 of course!" The girl squealed and held up her sparkly and frilly poster to show the rest of us. Kent's number, go figure. I wanted to roll my eyes but refrained from doing so, for now.
"Sadie, what's it like to live with a hottie like Kent?" One of the girls asked, pushing aside the other girls poster for Kent. I think her name was Josie.
"I'm sure you wouldn't think he's such a hottie once you smelled his dirty clothes," I muttered, now rolling my eyes. Some of the girls giggled, including Jackie.
"I bet he's so sexy when he walks into your room with only a towel on, huh?" Kailey, I think, asked, leaning even closer just like the others were.
"No, not really," I replied, trying to focus more on my poster than on the girls staring at me.
"Has he ever tried anything with you?" One of the girls blurted out, the rest giggling and keeping their gazes on me. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks even though I desperately tried not to blush, I couldn't help it.
"What? No! Stop asking dumb questions," I rolled my eyes, trying to play it off but the girls continued giggling and talking all at once. One asked if we'd kissed, another if we had hooked up and another asked if she could come over for a sleepover.
"Okay girls, let her breathe a bit," Jackie interrupted, reaching over one of the girls to grab a blue marker. The girls slowly settled back down and my face eventually returned to it's normal color.
"Who are you rooting for Sadie?" Another girl, maybe Ivory was her name, sitting next to me leaned over to check out my poster. All the other girls posters were frilly and sparkly, while on mine I had drawn Charlie's number throughout the laces of a football.
"Charlie," I replied trying to admire my plain poster but the others were a bit intimidating with the glitter.
"Don't go cheating on Kent now," Josie, I think, winked over at me and again the girls giggled.
Even though I had only just met these girls they seemed like people who would be fun to be around. Girls who could be actual friends maybe.

Before I could respond the front doors opened and in walked Missy and her three henchmen, girls who followed her around like her pets and did whatever she told them to, so typical. She couldn't make up her mind who she wanted to be her maids, so the girls would be different every week. Missy hardly glanced my way, her eyes shot towards the girls poster who had Kent's number on it.
"Cute poster Holly," Missy purred, her eyes glaring but she was still smiling. She made a big scene of turning on her heels to her henchmen. "Go away, I have to get ready for my date with Kent," The girls rushed away, back out the front doors they had just walked in.
I wonder how bad your life has to be to be someone's personal maid. Especially Missy's.
Missy turned and headed up the stairs, not looking our way again, but making sure to step on Holly's poster on the her way to the stairs. Once her heels were no longer heard all the girls seemed to let out their breath.
"What a bitch," Kailey, or whatever her name is, scooted closer to Holly to examine her ruined poster.
"We could still fix it Holl,"
"It's alright, I didn't like how the letters turned out anyway," Holly tried to play it off that Missy ruining her poster wasn't a big deal but everyone else could tell it was.
"Kailey can you pass me another peice of paper?" The girl I had thought was Josie was actually Kailey.
After we were done with our posters Jackie, Holly, Josie and I headed to the cafeteria to eat dinner. It felt so good to be around females instead of all that pent up testosterone all the time. We all sat down at the same table but before we had a chance to dig in we were interrupted by Dylan, Squid, Charlie and Chunk who squeezed around the table with us.
"How's it going ladies?" Squid asked, nudging Jackie in the arm who's face turned as red as a tomato and couldn't seem to find words.
"What are you guys up to?" Josie asked, eyeing both Squid and Dylan. I noticed Holly moving in closer to Charlie, but he didn't seem to notice.
"We just got done making signs for the game Friday," Holly couldn't seem to stop smiling, whether it was at Dylan or Charlie though I couldn't tell.
"Who'd you make your sign for?" Squid asked Jackie who was still blushing.
"Oh, um, just for the whole team really," Jackie stammered about and Josie tried to stifle a giggle, which only embarrassed Jackie more.
"Hey Sadie, I've been wondering," Charlie turned towards me, scooting closer so our legs were now touching under the table. "did you and Kent ever work out your issues?" The whole table suddenly went quiet and everyone was interested in hearing my response.

"We don't have any issues and I can't stand the guy," I rolled my eyes while speaking, I wanted to make sure they all knew I did not have feelings for Kent. Not anymore that is.
"Love birds," Holly teased from the other side of Charlie and I watched as Charlie shot her a death glare before rolling his eyes.
"Not even close, trust me as soon as another room opens up I'm gone. Just looking at him makes me want to punch him in the face," I finished my food before getting up and throwing away my trash, Charlie followed me to throw away his too.
"I told you my other bed is open if you ever need it Sadie," He explained as we walked back to the table where everyone else was still sitting and chatting. Maybe I was just imagining it but Charlie's voice seemed more tense than usual.
"I know Charlie, I told you I appreciate it. It would just be nice to have my own space, with no other guy around," I sat down next to Jackie who was having an actual conversation with Squid and Charlie took his previous seat next to me, closer than before.
"You should put up curtains Sadie, totally divide the room in half. I bet it'll drive Kent nuts," Holly pointed out and I couldn't help but laugh along with a few others.
"I can't wait for the game man!" Dylan called out, high fiving Charlie from across the table and also getting Squid riled up. Squid jumped from his seat and let out an impressive battle cry before hopping onto our table and chanting "Pirates!", our school mascot. Other students began chanting along with Squid and before long the cafeteria security guard was rushing towards our table.
"Scatter! They're on to us!" Squid jumped down from the table, managed to grab Jackie's hand, and sprinted out of the cafeteria with Jackie trying to keep up. Instinctively I sprinted for the door next with the rest right behind me, the security guard screaming behind them. Once outside we all took different routes back to our own dorms, Charlie and I ran into each other while sneaking around the science building. We managed to get back to the dorm unseen by any other security guard.
"I'll see you tomorrow, crazy," Charlie winked and disappeared into his room. Kent wasn't in the room and I wasn't anywhere near tired so instead of getting ready for bed I decided to give Holly's idea a try.
I found the curtains that my mom had sent with me for my room, they're bright pink with white polka dots (definitely my mom's style). Unfortunately after hanging them from the ceiling with a whole bunch of thumb tacks, I realized they weren't long enough to go all the way to the ground. I'll just take them down tomorrow. Giving up on that dumb idea, I changed and jumped into bed. Might as well get a good nights sleep. Maybe tomorrow I could buy other curtains. Before I had the chance to fall asleep the door opened and in walked a very loud Kent. He dropped his bag next to his bed and when he glanced up and saw the curtains he started laughing. "I'm trying to sleep here, do you mind?" I snapped at him and Kent poked his head around one of the curtains, looking more attractive than I remembered.
"Are we fighting or something?" His eyes were dancing with amusement and he couldn't keep the grin off his if he tried. "Being passive aggressive is not the mature way to handle things,"
"Screw maturity, that's your side," I sat up, jabbing a finger towards his side of the room, "and this is my side. Don't come over here,"
"Fair enough," Kent leaned against the wall, still poking his head through. "but the doors on my side of the room, so does that mean you have to leave out the window?"
I stared up at Kent for a second before scowling and rolling my eyes, flopping back to my comfortable bed. "You're the biggest pain in my ass," I muttered and Kent laughed some more, walking over to his bed and laying down. For a moment there was nothing but silence as Kent got situated into his bed.
"Sadie," Kent whispered but I ignored him. "Psst, Sadie!"
"Oh my gosh, what!" I turned my head only to glare at Kent who was turned, staring over at me with a sheepish grin.
"I just wanted to say," He choked back a laugh, "nice curtains, they really complete the room,"
"Ugh, shut up!" Kent's laughed continued for five minutes, at least, before he calmed down enough to turn off his lamp and finally the room was dark and quiet.
"Hey Sadie," Kent randomly blurted out as I was just about to fall asleep.
"I swear Kent,"
"No this time I'm serious,"
"What?"
"I've got this big test coming up in history, can you help me study for it?" I laid there silent for a moment, completely caught off guard by his question. This guy was unbelievable. You'd think he'd be apologizing after his poor excuse for hooking up with Missy in our dorm room. Instead he's asking about studying?
"I think you should ask your girlfriend to help you," Kent didn't respond to that for a while, so long I thought maybe he had fallen asleep. Until finally he carefully whispered.
"She's not my girlfriend Sadie," I pretended to be asleep and didn't respond.
