Addylin's POV
I walk into the diner, and spot Kade straight away. His black hair poked up from the booth. I walk over and scoot into the booth. "Wow," Kade says, smiling. "You look absolutely beautiful, Addylin."
"Thank you," I say.
"How are you?" He asks, his brown eyes wandering over my body.
"I'm good," I answer. "I'm dating somebody."
"Oh," he says. "Who?"
"His name is Cole," I say. "He's 25 and an artist."
"That's nice," Kade says. "How is Jade?"
"She's fine," I answer, shortly.
"Uh oh," he says, as he looks through the menu. "Sounds like you and Jade are fighting."
I sigh. "She doesn't like Cole."
"Oh shit," he says. "That's not good."
"And every time he comes over, she's mean to him," I state. "And it's hard to watch because Cole doesn't deserve it."
"I'm sure he can handle Jade," Kade says. "She's tiny."
"Tiny but scary," I mutter.
"Hi," the waitress chirps. "I'm Jenny and I'll be your waitress today, can I start you guys off with any drinks?"
"I'll have a iced tea," Kade says.
"I-I will h-have a l-lemonade," I murmur.
"Awesome, I will be right back with those," she says. She walks off and I see Kade check out her behind.
Typical Kade.
"You gonna ask for her number?" I ask.
He nods. "Yep."
She comes back with our drinks and hands them to us. "Are you guys ready to order, or should I give you guys a minute?" Jenny asks.
"Can I get a order of you?" Kade flirts, winking at her.
Jenny scowls at him. "I'm lesbian, so unless you have a vagina, stop flirting with me."

Kade clears his throat. "I'll have the butter chicken."
Jenny writes it down and raises her eyebrow at me. "I-I w-will h-have t-the s-steak b-burger."
"Thank you," she says. She walks off and Kade grunts.
"She was so rude," he says. "She isn't getting no tip from me."
*
I sit in the corner of my apartment, as everyone parties around me. It's my party and I'm sitting by myself.
How pathetic.
Jade and Jamie were making out, against the kitchen counter, while some random guy was passed out on top of it.
I guess I wasn't as pathetic as him.
The door to our apartment opens and my eyes widen in delight, as I see Cole enter. Everyone turns to him, their jaws dropped.
Jade pulls away from James and scowls at him. She pushes James away and walks over to Cole. "You weren't invited," she spat.
He smirks. "Addylin invited me actually." I stand up and slip past everyone, hugging him. He kisses my forehead and wraps his arms around me. "Happy birthday," he whispers in my ear.
I pull away from him and notice the thin rectangle present in his hand. "For me?" I ask. He nods and hands it to me.
I rip it open and gasp.
It was the finished version of my portrait.
"Do you like it?" Cole asks.
"Yeah," I whisper, feeling the tears come. "It's beautiful, Cole."
"Like you," he murmurs.
"Gag me," Jade mutters, storming away.
Cole finally looks around laughing. "This doesn't look like a party you would enjoy."
"It's not," I admit. "Wanna go to my room?"
He nods and I take his hand in mine, pulling him through the crowd of Jade's friends and into my bedroom.

Cole has never been in here.
He walks around admiring my room and then sits down on my purple queen sized bed.
"Why did you decide to come?" I ask, sitting beside him.
He shrugs. "I guess I thought it was better to torture myself through a party then not see you on your birthday," he answers.
I smile. "I love my present."
"You should hang it up by your mirror," he suggests.
"Why there?" I ask.
"Well if you ever feel bad about yourself, just look at the painting and see what I see," he says. "Someone beautiful."
"That's a good idea," I whisper. His hand reaches and grabs the back of my head. He brings me closer to him and softly places his lips on mine. He pushes me down and gets on top of my deepening the kiss. I wrap my arms around his neck, as our tongues dance together.
He pulls away, too quick for my liking, his eyes still closed. "I can't continue, because I'll do something, that I'll regret if I do," he whispers.
I nod. "Okay."
He lays his head on my shoulder and kisses me there too.
I love this man.
