《Sleep With Me | KNJ x Reader》Ch 26 | I'm Sorry

As the morning sunlight begins to peek through the window and your eyes open slowly, feeling the weight of your lids fighting to stay closed. Groggily, you lift your upper body from the mattress, looking around to get your bearings. Your eyes snap open as you look at the gentle giant snoring next to you, remembering everything that happened yesterday.
You remain still as you watch him lying on his back, his chest slowly rising and falling as he sleeps. Your heart aches as you stare at him, noticing the swollen skin around his eyes from crying. Looking down you notice his hand is still firmly grasping yours; even in his sleep he's terrified of you letting go.
After a few minutes of finagling you're finally able to slip out from his hand and tiptoe into the bathroom, splashing your face with cold water to really wake yourself up. You finish your skincare and brush your teeth, peeking out from the bathroom to see Namjoon still sound asleep.
You quietly head for the kitchen, closing the bedroom door as slowly and gently as possible. Knowing the mental state he's been in the last 48 hours, he probably needs all the sleep he can get.
You turn on the coffee maker and lean back against the counter with your arms crossed, staring blankly out the window in the living room.
Your mind is reeling, still trying to process everything that has happened. Yesterday you had every intention of giving him the cold shoulder all night and leaving at 6am sharp the next morning. Looking at the clock you see it's already a quarter past nine — apparently you'd needed that sleep as well.
You pour some coffee into a mug and take a sip, staring at Namjoon's bedroom door wondering what exactly you should say. You can't run away, because last night you promised you would talk in the morning. But you really have no idea what you want or how to communicate it.
Shaking your head you decide to push your thoughts out. Overthinking clearly hasn't gotten you anywhere so far.
You grab the blanket on the couch and cocoon yourself into the warmth, turning the tv on to distract yourself until Namjoon decides to wake up. You decide to put one of your murder documentaries on, because there's nothing that'll distract you better than a good stabbing mystery.
Two hours later you're heavily immersed in the show when you hear rumbling from the other room, the door swinging wide open as a panicked Namjoon bursts through the frame. His breath hitches as he sees you on the couch, half surprised and half relieved you're still here.
"I..." he clears his throat. "I thought you might've left."
"I didn't go anywhere," you shake your head. "I told you we'd talk. Go get freshened up and then come back and sit with me."
His panicked eyes gradually soften as he absorbs your words. He turns back to wash up and change, returning a few minutes later.
"Do you want coffee?" you ask, already in the kitchen.
He softly nods his head, moving closer to you but still remaining a few feet away. His hand instinctively reaches for yours but he stops himself, not wanting to make you uncomfortable.
You hand him his mug and walk towards the couch, Namjoon following closely behind. You sit with your legs crossed, covering yourself with the blanket as he takes a seat next to you.
You're both silent for a moment as you mess with the fringe on the blanket, while Namjoon is staring at his coffee mug, eyes glazed over. He realizes he's zoned out and snaps his eyes towards you, sitting up straight.

"Thank you for staying," he says shakily.
You bite your lip and look down at your lap, only mustering a simple nod.
He turns his body more towards you, his left knee bent as it rests on the couch while his right remains loosely on the ground.
"I know I've said it a hundred times but I'm really sorry."
You glance up to see him staring intensely into your eyes. Your throat tightens as you try to find the words, but it's hard when your thoughts are so jumbled up.
Your gaze returns to your lap as you take a deep breath.
"My boyfriend in college was cheating on me with my roommate," you sigh, your face gradually turning into a scowl. "I know Nanami told you some of the story."
Namjoon sets his mug down and nods as he inches a little closer.
"We met when we were freshmen and dated for two years. We'd planned to be engaged around the third year and get married after graduation." Tears of anger begin to brim in your eyes. "It was on my 20th birthday when I walked in on him in bed with her."
Namjoon silently reaches for your hand. He's slow with it, testing to see if you're okay with it. Once he confirms you don't plan to flinch away, he wraps his fingers around your hand and begins to caress your knuckles with his thumb.
"The bastard actually put his clothes on and ran away as I stood there," you grimace. "Then the room was just left with me and Sarah, and she spilled everything. They'd been sleeping together ever since the first time I brought him over."
A tear falls out, running down your cheek and dripping onto the blanket. "She said there was even one night that he snuck into the dorm and fucked her while I was on the other side of the wall."
You feel Namjoon oozing with anger, his grip getting tighter around your hand. But he's trying to contain himself so you can finish your story.
"In hindsight, there were some red flags I probably should've picked up on," you shrug, wiping your tears. "But I ignored them, thinking I should just trust them until proven otherwise."
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that," Namjoon says softly, still caressing the back of your hand.
"It's okay," you smile timidly. "It was a really dark time, but a big part of what got me through it was you and the other members."
"I'm glad," he grins warmly, his dimple peering from within his cheek.
"But that is why I need you to be honest with me," your face returning stoic, eyes piercing into his. "I refuse to go through anything like that again. I don't need your protection. I don't need your pity. I just need your honesty."
He nods, scooting closer to where his knee grazes yours. "I know, baby, and I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
A lump forms in your throat as he calls you baby. It's only been two days and you missed it like crazy.
"And use your fucking brain for once, please," you grit through your teeth. "You're paying me eight thousand dollars just to sleep. But even if you weren't, I'd never take that bitch's money. Don't ever think so lowly of me."
He nods again, taking your other hand in his. "I just wasn't thinking clearly. I know you'd never do that."

"And... if you ever stop liking me, just tell me," your voice cracking as you allow tears to escape. "I can handle it."
Namjoon leans in and gently places a soft kiss on your forehead, shooting butterflies straight into your stomach. "I won't ever stop liking you," he says as he pulls back. "But I understand your point. I will communicate better with you."
You nod as he pulls you into his embrace, allowing your sobs to muffle into his shoulder. You grip his shirt and let out all the sadness and anger within you, feeling the weight in your chest get lighter and lighter as he strokes your hair.
He moves to the other side of you, placing himself on the inside of the couch and pulling you to him, settling you into your comfy cuddle position. Your arms squeeze around his torso as your head leans against his chest, your sobs calming down as you listen to his heartbeat.
He runs his hand across your forearm, tingling the skin where his fingertips brush, kissing the top of your head every once in a while until your crying stops and feel your eyelids getting heavy.
Namjoon kisses your head again but remains pressed against your hair for a moment. "I'm sorry baby. I won't ever hurt you again. I like you so much, and thank you for talking to me."
You feel your body start to relax against him, feeling that familiar contentment spreading through your body. Hearing him tell you his feelings sends a warm buzzing through your chest, somehow both making you nervous and calming your mind.
"I like you too," you mumble, quickly losing the fight against fatigue.

"I'm sorry for disappearing and making everyone worry," you say, giving a deep bow.
"Don't apologize," Taehyung smiles. "It's our bastard of a leader's fault anyways."
"Yeah," Jimin chuckles, "we're just glad you're okay."
V and Jimin had come over around 2pm to check on Namjoon, both surprised and relieved to see you sitting on the couch with him.
"Thanks," you grin. "Did you two make up?"
"Ah, yeah." Taehyung shrugs, gripping the back of his neck. "I overreacted."
"Overreacted is an understatement." Jimin rolls his eyes. "He literally came to you crying because he screamed at me for eating the last croissant."
"You prevented me from getting laid over a fucking croissant?!" you fume.
The room freezes as you slap your hand over your mouth, causing the two to double over in laughter. You glance up at Namjoon and he has his head turned away from you, his ears a deep shade of red.
"Sorry man," Jimin forces through his laughter, eyes practically shut from smiling, "we didn't mean to cock block."
"Yeah oh my god," Taehyung laughs, wiping a tear from his eye. "That's my bad. I thought I'd felt something against me when you hugged me."
"Don't even lie," Namjoon grimaces in disgust. "My dick fell flat as soon as I saw the snot dripping from your nose."
This time you and Jimin are the ones doubled over in laughter, Jimin clutching his side from the pain of laughing so hard.
"KIM NAMJOON!" Seokjin screams, busting through the door and scaring the shit out of all four of you.
"We're late, let's g- oh hi [Y/N]," he smiles before quickly turning his attention back to Namjoon. "We're supposed to be at dance practice in thirty minutes and Jhope will kill us if we're late again."
"Oh shit," V mutters, immediately heading out the door with Jimin trailing behind. Jin glances at Namjoon, expecting him to follow behind.
"Give me 2 minutes," he says to him. "I'll be right down."
"I'm going to raise hell if I have to come back up here to get you," he frowns, closing the door behind him.
Namjoon turns to look at you with the cutest puppy dog eyes. "I don't want to go."
You laugh as you wrap your arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug. "Yes you do, you know you love it," you smile. "I have to go home to handle my furniture anyways."
"Okay," he pouts, giving you a tight squeeze before releasing you. "Are you coming back tonight?"
"Yeah, I'll come back whenever I finish up with the delivery men."
His shoulders visibly relax upon hearing your words, providing him relief knowing you'll be back here waiting for him. He was worried he'd never get that luxury again.
"Okay," he smiles softly, flashing his dimple.
His hands slowly move up your arms to cup the sides of your face and neck, the feeling of his fingers wrapped around you almost makes you tremble. You missed being touched by him.
"Can I kiss you?" he asks quietly.
You nod as you take a step closer to him, fluttering your eyes closed as he leans in to press his lips against yours. You feel every ounce of stress evaporate as your mouth makes contact with his, making your body hum in satisfaction.
He pulls away slightly only to crash back onto your lips again, head tilted slightly this time, deepening the kiss. Your hands grip the muscles on his back as his tongue slides across yours, earning a small whimper from your throat.
"Dammit," he groans, pulling back to place his forehead against yours. "Now I really don't want to go."
You smile and cup his cheeks, giving him a soft peck before pulling away. "You still have tonight to make it up to me," you giggle.
His eyes widen before his face turns into a smirk. He leans down to put his lips against your ear, his breath spreading goosebumps over your neck. "Don't you worry baby, I plan to make it up to you all night long."
Your knees almost buckle beneath you.
He chuckles at your adorable reaction and steps back to head for the door. "I'll see you later, baby. I'll be back tonight no matter what," he smiles.
He closes the door behind him as you cup the side of your neck that's still shivering.
"Holy shit," you whisper shakily, feeling that familiar tingle in your lower stomach. "Maybe I'm finally going to get fucked by Kim Namjoon tonight."
